Thus Says The Lord-Who God Says He Is, His Commandments and Promises
Leviticus19:1-2 "And The Lord Spoke To Moses, Saying, Speak To All The Congregation Of The Children Of Israel, And Say To Them: You Shall Be Holy, For I The Lord Your God Am Holy "
A very good morning, a very good morning to you, everybody. I pray you had a wonderful and restful night and ready for another day and that you also had a long, great weekend. Let us go to the Lord in prayer.
Heavenly Father, we come before you today. We thank you for your goodness and your mercy towards us. We thank you, Lord, for all that you have done and what you're still going to do.
We thank you, Lord, that our confidence is in the fact that we are in your hands, that your eye is on the sparrow. You see everything. Nothing escapes your eye. We exist at your pleasure.
You've revealed yourself by your own will so that we can be part of this kingdom. And we thank you for sending your son, Jesus, to die on this cross so that salvation is for every man.
So by faith we have believed, and we now stand here today decreeing and declaring your goodness. And Father, as we dedicate these mornings, these times to devote these moments and these early mornings to you.
It's in faith that we pray that you come and guide us, give us the daily bread and that your Spirit lead us in all things true and in all things right as we go through about our day. Our efforts we know have no meaning if your presence is not with us.
So, we pray, Lord, that every morning that we come together, may your Spirit be the anchor of our souls and in everything that we do. Even these scriptures that we study, even these moments that we pray, even these moments that we come together, we want to be guided solely by your Spirit.
Because when we know for a fact that when your Spirit is present, all things are possible. So, this morning, we now invite you, as we try to be part of your kingdom, as we endeavor to be, part of your establishment and of this kingdom.
Serving one another worshiping you in spirit and in truth and communion with you daily so as we look at this word help us in all our efforts to be that which you have called us to become and we pray this prayer in Jesus name, Amen.
So, brothers and sisters if you're joining us for the first time we've been looking throughout the scriptures on where God spoke. Because essentially, as these children, we always desire to hear from our Father.
So, we are chronicling and going through scriptures, looking at what God spoke, what God said, and how he said it, when he said it, why was he saying it. And the reason we are doing this is so that we understand the relationship that our ears have with God's voice.
Everything that we will forever do in this kingdom is hinged on our ability to hear. That's why the scripture says, whoever has an ear, let him hear what the spirit of the Lord say. So that's why we are doing it.
It's an exercise to improve our hearing and exercise to understand God's voice, an exercise to hear how he speaks and why he speaks. So that as we continue with our own journey, we get to see and we get to hear Him clearly in everything that He is telling us to do.
So, we today, we are in Leviticus 19:1-2. And if you all notice, this has really been a journey of the children of Israel right out of Egypt, and God guiding them every step of the way, leading them to the Promised Land.
And if you actually look at it, you realize it mirrors Jesus coming to the earth, plucking us out of this holy system, leading us to a kingdom and every step of the way guiding us with his voice in as much as Moses was guiding the children of Israelite out of Egypt to the Promised Land.
Our Promised Land is the kingdom of heaven. So, and our Moses is Jesus. In fact, Moses is a type of Christ in as much as who Jesus was going to be. So, we are in Leviticus chapter 19:1-2 and the Lord spoke to Moses saying speak to all the congregation of the children of Israelites.
He doesn't say speak to the nation of Israel, he says to the congregation. Remember they were brought out to become a congregation of the Living God. So, if you speak to the congregation of the children of Israelites and say to them, you shall, not will you, can you, may you, you shall, you shall be holy.
Not because of your own strength, because of your own doing, because of your own abilities, you shall be holy, for I, the Lord, your God, I am holy. You shall be holy, for I, the Lord your God, I am holy.
In other words, because of me, and me being your God, and having brought you out of, you shall be holy. In other words, you are going to be holy, because I want you to be holy. One of the most misunderstood desires is our efforts to be holy.
Somehow we always think, and I've always thought too, growing up, that it was my ability to be holy. Holiness is not is part of God's character that's who he is for us is something that we lost and we have to gain back.
When Adam was in the Garden of Eden he was pure he was holy there was no sin once the devil showed up and he sinned then we became unholy. God separated himself because of our uncleanliness.
Because He cannot be around unclean things. But then He sent His Son to die on the cross so that salvation can be made possible. And part of salvation, part of salvation is holiness. Because Christ, who had not sin, died for you and I, so that He can present us to the Father as holy and acceptable.
So, holiness, if we are to ask what it is, holiness really is not going to church, is not praying, is not worshiping the Lord, is not all the statutes and things that we do in the church. Those are activities that aid to our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
Holiness is the resistance to temptation. In other words, the quickest way to holiness is through temptation. When you are tempted and you resist, not because you have your own strength.
You resist because you have put on the full armor of God, in that moment you become holy. God made holiness possible to us because he is holy, not because we can be holy in our own strength it’s very difficult to be holy.
Otherwise, there was no need to have sent Jesus, right? There was no need. If we have the ability to transform ourselves into holiness, then there's no need to have Jesus come. The reason Jesus came is because he was tested on all points and he was found to be with no sin.
So it had to take an act of God for a man to die on the cross who was pure and holy, for you and I to be holy. But for the children of Israelites, when you are speaking, he was telling them, you shall be, not you are going to be, not you may be, not you shall be holy, for I am your God and I am holy.
In other words, if we're going to have this relationship, you have to be holy like me. Because I am God and I can be sinful like you. And we know for a fact sin and holiness do not coexist.
So, he's saying, you shall be holy because I am holy, because I cannot relate to sin. Everything about me is pure and holy. So, the only way you can be holy is because I am holy and you shall be holy.
If we are going to have this relationship, you shall be holy, for I am your God and I am holy. So, holiness is really the ability to resist temptation and how do we resist temptation? We overcome by the word of our testimony.
We overcome by the lamb and the blood of Jesus Christ and we put on a full armor of God, right? So, let's look at this holiness in God's eyes is being separated from, inasmuch as God separated the children of Israelite out of Egypt.
So, being consecrated, being set apart, being set apart for a particular purpose, or a divine job. Purity is described as moral integrity. You're perfect, goodness, freedom from sin that's what purity is.
So, when you're consecrated, you're being set apart from. So, when we get to salvation, salvation sets us apart from the world and we become holy, not because we can be holy, it's because of the one who died on the cross that we become holy.
But we are becoming holy not because the goal is for us to be holiness. We are becoming holy because the one who is sitting on the throne is holy, and he desires a relationship with you and I, and that relationship cannot happen when sin is involved.
God detests sin. So, his desire is to bring us out of, to set us apart, to consecrate us, to be pure, to have this divine connection with him that is not contaminated with sin. So, when you actually think that our pathway to holiness, it goes through obedience.
It goes through obedience. Our job, our job in the process of holiness is not to make ourselves holy, but rather to be devoted to the statutes of God in order for Him to continue to make us holy.
Otherwise, if it was in our own ability, then all of us will be extremely pure and holy but we are made holy because of Jesus Christ because He died on the cross and He is working in you that which is perfect.
That's why it's Christ in us, the hope of glory. You can't conjure up your own holiness. It's Christ in us, the hope of glory. So, it's Christ in you who is making and working things inside of you to make you holy.
Why? Because you shall be holy, for I, your God, I am holy. And it's very sad that this is no longer something that is spoken of or taught significantly in the church. And yet it is at the center of our relationship with God.
When sin is involved it's impossible and very difficult to have a relationship with God. That's why he says you shall, not can you, may you please, no he says you are you shall be holy because I've set you apart, right.
Look at where he's saying this to them, he should have he could have said this to them while they were in Egypt right? But he waits after he has separated and concentrated them from and removed them away from Egypt.
And you have placed them in an environment where things are being extracted out of them. And, you know, desires and characters that were developed in Egypt were being extracted out of them.
So, when you look at the journey to this moment here. They've been through the wilderness, they have experienced God, they have seen him come down in a smoke, the mountains was consumed with fire.
Moses comes, gives them the Ten Commandments, and all this stuff is happening, and then when we get to Leviticus, it says, you shall be holy, after I have consecrated and separated you.
So, in other words, holiness does not happen before consecration, separation, before being set apart. You have to be set apart first, then you shall be holy, because I, your God, I am holy.
So, in other words, you can't be holy until He is your God. That's why there's no such thing as a good person. If you are not saved, right, you cannot be set apart. So, you have to be set apart first in order for holiness to be part of your statutes and your values.
But again, we are not doing this in our own accord. We are doing it because God has set us apart through salvation, and now He is working in us that which is pleasing to Him. Our job in the process of holiness is obedience, is doing, hearing what the Lord has said, and then executing.
That's why Paul said, when I want to do good, and I want to do bad. Sometimes my body just do whatever it wants to do. But man, I'm just going to hold on to what? To Christ, right? Because I know that if I hold on to Him, then me being set apart, that's going to now help me to become holy because I'm holding on to Christ.
Who is the one who is working in me, holiness and purity and consecration. So, we have to be consecrated, to be set apart, to be pulled away from, so that we can be, not because we can, but because he is.
Otherwise, again, there's no need to send Jesus if we could conjure up our own holiness. But again, when you really look at that statement here in Leviticus, it really is at the crux of everything that's going on.
It says, you shall be holy, because I, God, I am holy. In other words, I cannot function and exist in your sin. So, if you want to have a relationship with me, then you shall be holy. You shall be holy.
But the beauty of our generation is that they did not have Jesus. We now have Jesus. We now have Jesus who died on the cross, who was pure and holy. And now Jesus is working in you and I that holiness factor so that we can be holy.
Because our God is holy, so let us pursue holiness let us pursue holiness and the way we pursue it is through obedience, hearing and listening and doing what the word says that's why James says be he doers of the word.
Not imitators, doers right that's our job is obedience is hearing and obedience. If we master hearing and obedience then our journey to Holiness becomes easy because he will guide you in your steps in everything that you do as you journey along.
I mean that's why we now have the Holy Spirit where you can hear him say, Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, fix that. And if you hear and you obey, you become holy. If temptation comes, you hear him say, hey, hey, run this way.
When you run that way, you become holy. Praying, going to church, and that's great. But when we resist the devil, right? In other words, when we push sin away, then in that moment we become holy.
So, remember, the quickest way to temptation, the quickest way to holiness is through temptation. So, when you are tempted, just know it's an opportunity for you to be holy. When you feel like you want to cuss at somebody in traffic, and you hold your tongue, just know in that moment you have become holy.
When your children are driving you crazy, and you feel you want to go to a whole different level altogether, and you resist the urge to, in that moment you become holy. When you want to listen to something, or hear something, and you realize this is contaminated, and you turn it off.
In that moment, you become holy. When you feel like you want to say something to your boss, and then you decide, you know what, I'm going to hold my tongue and go the other way, you are holy.
When somebody slaps you and you give them another cheek, instead of retaliation, in that moment, you become holy. That's what holiness is. because you're being set apart. In other words, you're not doing what everybody else is doing.
That's holiness being set apart, consecrated for divine purpose and work, Amen. Let us pray. Father, we are here today. We are your children and we love you because you have put everything together to help us in our journey back to the heavens.
We thank you, Lord, for your strategy that is in place, that is constantly working in us, that which is pleasing to you. We know for a fact we don't have the strength, the wisdom, the courage, the boldness to make ourselves holy.
But rather we lean on Christ, the solid rock, a place where we can run to, where we know that it's in Him that we move and have our being, that is Christ in us, the hope of glory. So Father, help us in our hearing and doing and obedience as we hear the Spirit speak to us.
We thank you for your wisdom and courage to be obedient so that we can become holy. Help us to rise above temptations, to rise above things that ruin our spirits. We thank you for wisdom to follow the scriptures.
And we thank you for your word that is a lamp to our feet, to help us in our daily walk as we pursue that which is right from the Lord that made heaven and earth. So, Father, I pray for this particular day, as we go into it, everything that we will meet, experience, people that we will meet, and things that we will do.
I pray, Lord, that may you remind us of who we are in you, that you have brought us out of Egypt, out of this world. Even though we might be in this world, we are not of this world. So, help us, Lord, in our efforts to be different, to be consecrated, to be pure, to be holy as we pursue you.
I pray, Lord, for quick ears and quick action to do that which we are instructed to do through the word of God. I thank you, Lord, for all that you have done in our lives and what you're still going to do.
Open doors where they seem to be shut. Bring unity where there is chaos. I pray, Lord, for courage to pursue that which you have given us to pursue. I'm praying, Lord, for this family that you have gathered together in this hour in this season as we join every morning to come together to pray to worship to devote to commune with you.
I pray Lord for every single one of us we have ever joined us that God in your wisdom may you continue to bless them in everything they are doing. I pray for families and children that God, strength, courage, wholeness, healing is their portion.
So dear Lord, as we go today, bless our children as they're going to school or they're already in school. We give them the Spirit of God to conquer every agenda that is not of you that has been pushed towards them.
We pray for every teacher that God may they realize and recognize the responsibility they have to educate the next generation so that one day they get to receive this kingdom from us. Heal any child who might be sick heal every senior who might be feeling sick or weak in their bounds.
I pray, Lord, that strength is their portion. I pray for every business. That God, I pray for those who are in business. New, godly contracts and may our voice during times of meetings rise up so that the consecrated in us is revealed and shown.
So that somebody gets to believe in you. So, bless us in all our efforts and in everything that we are putting our hands to. The works of our hands, we say, Lord, bless them. Multiply things in our hands.
There's multiplication in our hands. that what we are touching is being multiplied. But above all else, may you continue to make us holy, so that we can be near to you. So, as we go through this day, lead us not into temptation.
Continue to deliver us from the evil one. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever, Amen. Brothers and sisters, be ye holy, for our God is holy and remember, the quickest way to holiness is through temptation, overcoming temptation. May the Lord bless you.
May the Lord bless your families. May the Lord bless your hands, your mind, your soul, your feet, at every ground you step as long as God's will, may you inherit it and may your hands be hands that build, not break things.
May your spirit be a spirit that encourages, that inspires as we build his kingdom in preparation for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. I love you, and let's all have an incredible, phenomenal day. We will see you tomorrow morning.
