Thus Says The Lord-Who God Says He Is, His Commandments and Promises
Isaiah 43:1-13 But Now, Thus Says The Lord, Who created You, O Jacob, And He Who Formed You O Israel: Fear Not, For I Have Redeemed You, I Have Called You By Your Name, You Are Mine"
A very good morning, a very good morning to you everybody. I hope you had a wonderful restful night and that God gave you incredible phenomenal dreams and you're ready for another exciting day a day to know the Lord a day to experience this life that he has given us.
A day to breathe in the breath of God and as we continue to find ourselves to stand in his hope, in his encouragement, and in his presence. I woke up today and I had this song in my head I'm not going to sing.
I'm going to pray this song because the words of these songs are so powerful. This is what it says. Father of life, draw me close. Lord, my heart is set on you. Let me run the race of time with your life unfolding in mine, and let the peace of God and let it rain.
O Holy Spirit, Lord my comfort, strengthen me, hold my head up high, and I stand upon your truth, bringing glory unto you, and let the peace of God and let it rain. Says, O Lord, I hunger for more of you.
Rise up within me. Let me know your truth. O Holy Spirit, saturate my soul. And let the life of God fill me now. Let your healing power breathe life and make me whole again and let the peace of God and let it rain in Jesus' name, Amen.
Today we are in Isaiah chapter 43 and I will read from verse 1 to 13 But now thus saith the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, and he formed you, O Israel. Fear not, for I have redeemed you. I've called you by my, I've called you by your name.
You are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you. Then through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flames scorch you, for I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Faber in your place, since you were precious in my sight. You have been honored, and I have loved you. Therefore I will give man for you, and people for your life.
Again, fear not, for I am with you. I will bring your descendants from the east, and gather you from the west. I will say to the north, Give them up, and to the south, do not give them back. Bring my sons from afar, and my daughters from the ends of the earth, everyone who is called by my name, whom I have created for my glory.
I have formed him, yes, I have made him. Bring out the blind people who have eyes and the deaf who have ears. Let all the nations be gathered together and let the people be assembled.
Be assembled who among them can declare this and show us former things. Let them bring out their witnesses, that they may be justified. And let them hear and say, it is truth. You are my witness, says the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me, and understand that I am He.
Before me there was no God formed, nor shall there be after me. I even I am the Lord, and besides me there is no Saviour. I have declared and saved, I have proclaimed, and there was no foreign God among you.
Therefore, you are my witness, says the Lord, that I am God. Indeed, before the day I was, I am here and there is no one who can deliver out of my hand. I work and who will reverse it. That's powerful. I work and who will reverse it?
It's a statement of fact that when I do something, there's absolutely no one who can reverse it. It is what it is.
Now, brothers and sisters, the key theme in this book of Isaiah, if you read over and over again, you hear this promise that God is making to his people about numerous and various things from prisoners who get out of jail.
I'm going to send the Messiah, I'll never leave you. It's going to be with you and now you hear it again, and it's coming in the form of, I do not ever want you to fear. And He tells us why He doesn't want us to fear.
It's almost kind of like, do you know who I am? This is who I am. So God gives us His resume and it's a reminder again it's reminding over and over again and then when you ask yourself why is God keeps reminding the same thing throughout scriptures.
You can trace this all the way back to Genesis in fact to Exodus you come up this way all you hear is this promise and this this reminding of Egypt and you then realize that, and I've always said this too.
That if you see a theme being repeated over and over and over again in the scripture, it's because we have a proponent and a tendency to do what is being warned against. So do not forget and do not forget.
It's an emphasis because we have a tendency to forget, but it's also a reminder of who God is. So he gives us his resume in 43, he tells us about Egypt, he tells us about bringing forth everybody from the east to the west to come together and assemble.
And now he ends up and he says well, if I do something, who is going to reverse it? It's nobody. So in other words, do not fear because I hold all power. That's who I am. The scriptures were written to us, for us, as a connection to who God is.
This is a resume of who God is, telling us what he is capable of doing. And he shows us his different various statutes in the scriptures to help you and I to navigate this life. He doesn't promise that there will be no trouble.
In fact, he says trouble will be there. But along with that, here's this thing that God keeps reminding over and over and over again in the scripture from first the children of Israelites to us now says do not fear for I am with you, I am God.
Before me there was nobody and after me there will be nobody I am who I said I am. I get to decide, I get to decide who you are. So when you really kind of think about what is being expressed here, you then understand that God in His infinite wisdom.
He is trying to make sure that you and I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever forget who it is. That's why there's always this thing reminding us over and over again, do not fear I am God, do not fear I am God.
And why are we being reminded not to fear? Because we are going to have a tendency of fear so this thing is repeated numerous times in scriptures do not fear do not fear because when you think about what fear is it's a natural instinct.
And sometimes fear is necessary a vaguely say that because if you walk into a forest full of lions and if you're not afraid you're going to be careless but excessive fear it's not good. But in this case, we are being taught to not fear.
Why? Because there are things that are going to happen that are frightening. That he is saying, when you see those things, do not fear. Why? Because I am God. And then he gives his resume of all the things that he has done to make sure that we have a clear understanding of who He is, what He has done.
And that He is the overall authority in all things. So fear not, for I am God. And then that last, that last part there says, and there is, and there is no one who can deliver out of my hand.
No one who can deliver out of my hand. I work and who will reverse it. In other words, once I've done it, that's it. There's no reversing it. But again, you can see in the early passages of this scripture where he's talking about, he's claiming us.
So fear not, for I have redeemed you, and I've called you by my name. You are mine. You are mine. So in other words, you belong to me, and part of belonging to me is that you should never be afraid because I will hide you under the shadow of my wings.
And we are being reminded and then I always ask myself, why do we read certain things at a certain time or at a certain moment or year? You know, we could have read this scripture a year ago or two years ago, but we are reading it now.
And it's in his infinite wisdom. that in this era, in this season, we are reminded to not be afraid of things or afraid of anything because God is in control. He's never late. He's always on time. He's not confused.
He's not trying to figure it out. His eye is on the sparrow. He sees everything, hidden or not hidden. He's not confused at all. He's not making it up as he goes. I mean, he's aligning everything from here to 10 years from now, to 20 years from now.
And he made sure that you and I were born in this era. Not in 1940 or in 1800s, but he made sure that you were born in this era. And that we are connected. to the people that we are connected with, because it was never given to us to choose.
We were born in the families that we were born, and we made sure that we were born in there. We choose to do certain things that we don't choose who comes along. And this, my brothers and my sisters, shows us his full measure of authority.
So he's never going to be late for anything, he is never going to hold because he tells us right here in the end that when I work nobody can reverse it can't reverse it what I do. Because he's expressing to us that I'm in total control and I am God I see all things.
And isn't it isn't it comforting that the things that we don't know, that we wish would know, that what is happening, what is going on, you know, especially even nowadays where we are trying to figure out what is going on in this country.
He's aware of it. He knows every secret meeting. He knows every hallway. He knows every conversation. And he's saying to you and I fear not for I am with you. I created this whole thing, including you.
So we are being reminded to fear not. In fact, the overall message is that we need to rest ourselves in Him. That's why the speaker says, in Him we have, we move and have our being. He says, without me you are nothing.
Without God, we are nothing. We are breathing his breath to survive all 8 billion of us. If you just choose to withhold it for a minute, every single human soul will die.
So when he's saying I am with you, I am in total control, fear not, it's an assurance that of course things are going to happen, challenges are going to come, but you are mine, I redeemed you and I bought you with a price, so you should never ever fear not, because I am with you.
So as we go throughout today, as you hear things, as you experience things, my prayer is that Isaiah 43 is comforting in the way you think, in the way you do things because He is with us.
He is with us. We should all have this knowing in us that God is in control, even sometimes when it feels like not it's not there should be this comfort in knowing in every single one of us.
That he is in total control that he sees everything, everything and is in total charge and then the most important part is that he makes a declaration that you are mine. I redeemed you, brought you out of Egypt.
You are mine. So as we go throughout the day, let's remind ourselves when we hear things that are not so good, let's remind ourselves. When challenges come, let's remind ourselves.
And if you are not sure, just go back 10 years ago and ask yourself if it was left to you to write your story. Would you have written it the way it is now?
Would you have gone through the things that you have gone through? Or you would have praised a whole total different story altogether. Such is our God. Alright, let us pray.
Heavenly Father, we thank you for this day that you have made. We are rejoicing in it. Thank you for your grace. We thank you, Lord, for bringing to us remembrance of who you are.
Such are comforting words that you inspire and speak to us so that we can walk in freedom and in pure understanding that you are sovereign.
That you know us, that you're not confused, you're never late, you're always on time. You know us, you formed us in our mother's wombs. And you put in us every single gift and talent in order to survive and to succeed in this life.
So as we continue to rest in you, we thank you for your Spirit that is always a source of guidance, comfort, counsel. That we are never left alone in our own thoughts, in our own devices, but God, that you, in your sovereign authority, are constantly guiding all of us to all things new and great.
Thank you for your healing power. Thank you for healing us in our minds and our souls and our emotions as we continue to work out this source of salvation with fear and trembling. I pray, Lord, for every idea and every thing that you have in store for us today.
That as we walk throughout this day, open our eyes and our minds to see things the way you see them. We pray for grace to abound, for peace to abound, for strength and endurance to abound.
That God in your infinite wisdom, you are bringing us to a new place. Thank you for what you are doing in the earth. We might not understand some things. We might not even be aware of some things.
But we are going to trust that when you do the work, no one can reverse it. So, Father, we are going to rest in you, and we are not going to be afraid, not because there is no danger, but because we know that on Christ, the solid rock we stand.
So help us to continue navigating these lives. Protect us from harm and danger as we travel on the byways and the highways, as we work with others in so many different capacities. I pray that the joy of the Lord be our strength, that may we be your witnesses.
Ultimately, we want to be your witnesses, that people will feel the love of God through us. Help our families, our children as they go to school. I pray, Lord, that with all the chaos that's going on in this country, pray for angels on assignment to guard and protect our children as they go to school.
We come against the spirit of school shooting that is rampant in this country. Send angels on assignment. Help parents and give them wisdom to raise their children in the things of the Lord.
Pray for unity in this country. That God, this decision that is rattling through America may come to an end. Raise up men and women who care about spiritual things, who care about people.
I pray, Lord, that as you raise great leadership across the board, from companies to get a spirit of unity and others rise up. And we thank you for what you're doing in the earth and we thank you, Lord, for your remnant.
And we thank you for the people that you've surrounded us with as they continue to play their roles in our lives. May we glean and learn from one another. May you hold every soul precious before you, for we are all created in your image, with the same skillsets to love and to endure.
Now as we go throughout this day, continue to bless every family represented here. And we thank you Lord for work, places that we can go and earn a living. Bless those workplaces in the name of Jesus.
Pray Lord that none amongst us is sick and that you are awesome and awesome and greatly to be praised. Now lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever, Amen.
Brothers and sisters, as you go out in the day, do not fear for the Lord is with you. We will see you tomorrow morning and have an awesome, wonderful day.
