Thus Says The Lord-Who God Says He Is, His Commandments and Promises
Isaiah 51:7-8: "Listen To Me, You Who Know Righteousness, You People In Whose Heart Is My Law, Do Not Fear The Reproach Of Men, Nor Be Afraid Of Their Insults"
Good morning, family, good morning. Welcome to this morning devotion, where we seek to hear from God and to walk in His marvelous light. Let's go to Him in prayer.
Heavenly Father, we come before You and we give You thanks for this day, for waking us up to a new day with new grace and new mercies.
We thank you that you kept us at a restful and peaceful night so that we could wake up this day and be refreshed and ready to hear from you what your word has to say for our lives this day.
We thank you for your blessing on our lives. We thank you for the communion with the Spirit, and we thank you for grafting us in and bringing us together as your children in the blood of Jesus, washed clean of our sins, that you see us through this blood as righteous in your eyes.
So we thank you, Father, that you have chosen us and are keeping us this day. Now we pray, Father, that you lead us this day. Lead us in this call. Lead us as we bring forth a word that you've placed on our hearts and help it to touch those that are on this call.
We pray your blessing now, and we turn this over to you as we devote this time to you, and it's in Jesus name we pray, Amen. So, family, today we are still in the book of Isaiah. We are in Isaiah 51.
And I won't be before you long. This is a very short verse today. It is only two verses, 51:7-8. And let me just go ahead and read it and then I'll give some commentary. So, verse 7 begins.
Listen to me, you who know righteousness, you people in whose heart is my law. Do not fear the reproach of men, nor be afraid of their insults. For the moth will eat them up like a garment, and the worm will eat them like wool.
But my righteousness will be forever, and my salvation from generation to generation. Again, as I said, we've been in Isaiah this week. And if you've been following along, there's been a common theme amongst these scriptures.
And with the exception of Monday, where God commanded us to go forth and flee Babylon and the Chaldeans, the rest of the scriptures gave the command to listen. So listening is a key instrument in being able to be obedient, to hear from God and to understand what he is asking of us.
In order to go forth, we have to hear the voice of God, right? We just can't assume, because I'm sure in our lives, many of us have assumed we heard from God and found ourselves walking outside of His will.
Had to look forward to Abraham as being the father of faith and see what he did, because this is where our faith has to derive from, we have to be just like Abraham. Abraham and Sarah were chosen at a time when they had nothing they had nothing that they could give to God.
And it was just faith that Abraham had and we know that Abraham had been called the father of faith because he believed in God and spoke with him constantly so much so that as pastor Zee brought out um God called Abraham his friend.
The nation of Israel had been born from these humble beginnings faith, but they were born not by their own choosing but by God's choosing and he would comfort his people and this is found in Isaiah 51: 3.
But we'll continue on here because even at a time when the righteous were being exiled in Babylon along with the unrighteous Isaiah offered hope that one day the redeemed of the Lord would return.
One day God would judge the nations with justice when that global judgement takes place God's salvation and righteousness will be evident. Because of this, those who were righteous did not need to fear persecution.
God would be their deliverance. He would judge the wicked, and his salvation and righteousness would be a lasting one. Isaiah's time could have been quite discouraging for those who were seeking to follow God.
An exile was coming at the time for the nation in accordance with what God had promised. Even though there were some righteous people in the nation, the godly had to endure the same national judgment as those who had rejected God.
God offers some encouragement here where it says one day the judgment would end and unrighteous individuals would be judged on an individual basis. The redeemed of the Lord would return to Jerusalem and be glad and joyful.
And that is something to look forward to. In a similar way, those who have believed in Jesus today still have to deal with the consequences of living in a fallen world. Death and heartache surround us because of the fall.
All creation groans, and I say this often because as we look around the world today and we see earthquakes and floods and all kinds of catastrophes, natural, this symbolizes to me even that creation is groaning for Jesus to return.
They are awaiting the ultimate redemption of mankind by Christ and we eagerly we believers eagerly wait with perseverance for the redemption of our bodies and you can find that in Romans 8:25.
We have the hope of God's promised deliverance and look forward to a time when he, God, fulfills that promise. God has also made promises of redemption to Israel. One day, the nation will receive her Messiah and will be restored just as God had promised.
He will judge righteously, and those of Israel who have been redeemed shall return to Zion. It is Jerusalem that God will keep his promises to the nation of Israel, literally and assuredly that the prophecy of Isaiah 51 would be fulfilled completely.
Even though the Jewish people were going through great difficulty in the times of exile, they could look forward to the certainty and anticipation of how God would deliver them.
In a similar way we today endure difficulties in this life, knowing that one day God will complete the work He began in us, and the redemption of our bodies will come.
So, in conclusion here, we must listen to the Word of God. When Jesus gave the parable of the Sower in Matthew Luke and Mark he ended with he who has ears to hear let him hear so are we listening to what God is saying to us or are we listening to the chaos in the world today.
And we know family there's a lot of chaos there's a lot of things that are going on in the world. And if you turn on the news, you could become enraptured in all that is being said. Truth and deception are all mixed in.
We don't know from one day to the next what this country, and the world for that matter, is going to bring forth. But we do know that God walks with us. God is with us. Those of us who revere and believe him God will protect.
And we know that in the final day we who believe that God is and have faith like Abraham to believe that God's commandments God's promises will come true we will be saved we have salvation we are in God's hands.
So do not fear the noise of this world do not fear the chaos because we know chaos is not of God but keep your eyes looking forward keep looking up for your redemption is near, let's pray.
Heavenly Father again we thank you for this day we thank you for your mercy and grace and we know Father that even as this world seems to be crashing down. This world seems to be out of control and spiraling the death spiral, the death spiral, Father.
We pray that we can see that our eyes are open and that our hearts and minds are focused on you and not on the things that are slowly but surely going away in this world. We pray, Father, to desire your kingdom, to desire the things that you tell us to look to.
You and your scriptures say, seek me first, that you know all the things that we need. So we should not be desiring things of this world, but we should be desiring all things, Father, that pertain to your kingdom and avail ourselves as willing vessels for your use and that you will give us everything that we need to accomplish what you send us forth to do.
We pray Father that you open our ears and help us to hear you help us to receive what you will have us to receive and help us to hear the commands to go forth out of Babylon, help us to walk in faith and not by sight.
Help us to be like our forefathers, Abraham, Moses, who all heard you and believed you and walked with you, so much so that they became your friends. We desire to be your friend, Father.
We desire to walk with you and allow you to control our lives. We give you all power and glory, Father, because you alone are worthy. We worship you. We lift our hands to you. We bow down at your throne, Father.
Pray now, Father, as we go forth in this day, that you bless those that are on this call. Bless each and every one of them, their families that are represented here.
We pray for their spouses, and we pray for those even in the families that don't believe that through us, we will be your representative to cause them to question, how can I be saved?
We pray, Father, for good health, especially those on this call that may be ill or suffering. We ask your Spirit to heal them because we know that through the stripes of Jesus, we are healed.
And so we know you as the master physician can heal with just a thought and so we are praying for those that may be ill to be healed. We pray a special prayer Father for our dear pastor Zee as he is traveling.
We pray for him and all those that are traveling with him. We pray for his family in his absence April's of Zivai Junior, David and Ava. We lift these up to you Father asking you to cover them protect them and keep them from harm and danger seen and unseen.
Guard them as they travel guard them as they go about their day Father and guard all of us as we go about our day. We pray that you forgive us where we fall short , we pray that you forgive us where we may doubt, Father, because we know that this is our sinful nature.
But we know that if we repent and we come to you, you forgive us freely. And so we pray for that forgiveness. So I thank you now, Father, as we go forth, lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever in Jesus name we pray, Amen. Amen family go in peace this day know that God loves you and remember listen and hear what the Spirit is saying.
Don't walk in your own strength but walk in the strength of our Lord and Savior walk in the strength of Almighty God who sustains us and lifts us up each and every day. God bless you family go in peace, we love you.
