Thus Says The Lord-Who God Says He Is, His Commandments and Promises
"1 Thessalonians 5:17 - Pray Without Ceasing - Friday Morning Prayer"
Good morning, good morning everybody. I hope you had a wonderful, restful night and you are ready for another day with the Lord. Brothers and sisters, today is Friday and on Fridays we've dedicated this time to pray for one another, to pray for means and also to just hear the Spirit pray through us and prayer is important and essential.
It is the lifeblood of every believer. My father-in-law used to say, without prayer, you won't lust. And it's true, because it is one of the greatest response that God has given us to interact with Him and we ask to pray.
So when Paul writes and encourages people to pray without ceasing, he had that understanding that this is essential, this is important, it is the way we communicate with God, and it is the way God is designed to hear from us.
So without us praying, that means essentially God is not hearing from His children. So it is important to pray and to just think about how incredible prayer is. That we are out here on earth and actually we can reach heaven by just dedicating a time to pray.
And the fact that prayer can penetrate the Spirit is unbelievable in itself. It's such an incredible phenomenal gift that we ought to utilize and I also believe is the most underutilized weapon that God has given believers.
So on Fridays, we dedicate this time to just pray for one another and also to hear the Spirit pray through us. And today we are going to do the same thing and pray for one another. And brothers and sisters, we are at a time where prayer is needed.
The scripture says, if my people, who are called by my name, humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways, only then will I hear from heaven and heal their nation. And as we know, all nations are in trouble because of what mankind has done.
And if we want God to do anything about it, that means we have to pray. Of course, he's able to do whatever he desires to do at any given moment. But if we want God to heal nations, it's the believer's responsibility to pray.
So, let us continue to pray without ceasing whenever you get a chance and the time to do it and don't waste time. Paul again writes in Ephesians that if you don't know what to do, pray. And if you want to know, the best way to utilize time is to pray. So let us pray.
Father, we come before you today. We thank you for your goodness and your mercy towards us. We thank you, Lord, for all that you have done and what you're still going to do. We thank you, Lord, for the many blessings that you have given us and the things that you have set us apart to do and to establish through your Spirit.
We come before you with a full understanding that this is the best way you have given us to communicate with you. So today, as we gather as believers, we table before you our needs, we table before you, the things that we desire for you to move on our behalf.
So, Lord, we lift up Sheila. We thank you, Lord, for continued peace. We pray, Lord, that you give Sheila a level of peace that surpasses human understanding. We thank you, Lord, that whatever she is experiencing that you are bringing her to the other side.
Where peace is accompanied by grace, is accompanied by strength and faith and wisdom as she continues to live out this life. We thank you for Mama Cunningham for going through losing a child.
As difficult and challenging as that is, I pray, Lord, that may she continue to grieve with hope, knowing that she will be reunited one day. So we thank you for peace, just peace that surpasses human understanding for Mother Sheila Cunningham.
