Thus Says The Lord-Who God Says He Is, His Commandments and Promises

Jeremiah 9:23-24 "But Let Him Who Glories Glory In This, That He Understands And Knows Me"

A very good morning, a very good morning to you everybody. My prayer is that you had a wonderful, restful night and you are up and ready for another day to claim your new mercy that God has given to every single one of us today. Let us go to the Lord in prayer.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for your goodness and your mercy towards us. We thank you, Lord, for all that you have done and what you're still going to do.

We bless you for your goodness, your strength, your wisdom, your knowledge that you have lavished on us to enable us to live these lives knowing that we have full support of the Kingdom of God.

Father, we thank you for grace, We thank you for mercy. We thank you, Lord, for your love and kindness, and that you are our Father and we are your children. As we come into today, we have great faith and hope that you have things prepared for us to do.

People to meet, people to talk to, people to have conversation with, others to bring to Christ. I pray, Lord, that may we seize every opportunity to minister this gospel to somebody so that they can believe.

We thank you, Lord, for this day that you have made. We are going to rejoice in it and be glad in it, for redeeming us from the curse of the law, crucified with you, but still yet we live. And Father, we pray, Lord, that by your stripes we are healed and by your grace we are wise.

So Father, as we look at this word this morning, as we devote this time in fellowship and in communion with the Holy Spirit, may you lead us in all things true and in all things right. So that as we start our day, we put you first above everything else.

For we know without you, we are nothing. So Father, bless our time together. and bless this morning as we dive into scripture and as we come together in fellowship. And we pray this prayer in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ we pray, Amen and Amen.

Today is October 28th and we are in Jeremiah 9:23-24. If you are joining us for the first time, we are going through scriptures in the book of Jeremiah and the prophets, tracking where the word of the Lord was spoken by God, whether through a prophet or through him, where it says, thus saith the Lord.

Why do we need to track these words? Because as much as they were relevant back then, they are still relevant today. Because his word will endure forever. He says, All things will pass away, but not his word.

So which means this word that we are looking at today is as important as it was back then, and it will be important in the years to come and even in this moment right now. So, Thus says the Lord.

And if you've been trekking with us, Thus says the Lord simply means this is what the Lord declares. It's not debatable, it's not asking questions, it's not looking for an opinion. This is what He is telling you and this is what it is from Him.

And we need to pay attention to these because that's what God says. So Jeremiah 9:23 says this: Thus saith the Lord, let not the wise man glory in his wisdom. So in other words, if you are wise, don't look at it as that you are great right?

Let not men, and this verse says, Let not the mighty man glory in his mighty, nor let the rich man glory in his riches. Not let the rich man glory in his riches, but let him, who glories, glory in this.

In other words, if you Feel like you want to glory in anything? This is what you ought to glory in. That he understands and knows me. If there's one thing that we all can glory in, in this life, it's this understanding and know God.

And what should we understand and know that, this is what the Lord said, that I am the Lord, exercising loving kindness, judgment and righteousness in the earth. For in these three things I delight, says the Lord.

So, God is saying to every single one of us, if there is one thing we can glory in, is understanding Him and knowing Him better. This is why I'm always saying, grow in the knowledge of who God is, because that's His desire, that you understand Him and you know Him better.

And then He gives us the things that we need to understand and to know about God. That number one is love and kindness, then judgment, then righteousness in the earth. Three things.

Loving and kindness, that God is loving and is kind, but He is also judging things. And this is for us sometimes when we feel like, man, why is God letting some people get away with stuff?

There's nobody getting away with anything. It's most likely that he's exercising his love and kindness and his patience. But he delights in judgment and righteousness. Those are the things that he is looking at.

He says, I want you to grow and know me better, pertaining to these three things, my love and kindness, judgment in the earth, and righteousness in the earth. For in this, in these three things, he says, I delight.

God enjoys these three things, righteousness, judgment, and love and kindness. And that is, if you choose that you want to glory in anything, this is why I love scripture. It always gives us things to do and how to act and how to behave.

Let this mind that is in Christ be in what? In you also, at least for us what Christ's mind was. And he says, think of these things, whatever is noble, whatever is just. He tells us how to think, how to be, how to act.

And now he's saying, Hey, if you ever think of glory, and if you ever think that you want to glory yourself, if you are rich, don't glory in your riches. If you feel like you're strong and powerful, don't glory in your mighty.

If you think that you are wise, don't glory in your wisdom. Because all those things come from him anyway. He says, but if you actually want to do that, this is what you can glory in. Glory in knowing me better.

Glory in understanding me better and once you grow in understanding better and the other three things that you need to understand in that in that glory and knowing me better and understanding me better is that one I exercise love and kindness.

And I exercise judgment in the earth and I am all about righteousness, so which means that if these are the three things that God delights in, right? On our end, these are the things that we need to pay attention to. Righteousness, love and kindness, judgment in the earth.

And when you think about the word judgment there, it's almost comforting I can say almost, it is comforting to know that God is looking in the earth in spite of all that we see, the things that we complain about. The genocides that we see in Gaza, and all these things. God is looking at it, and He's judging.

Even though sometimes he doesn't look like he is. He is judging. With all the chaos that's going on in this country, he is judging. And no one gets away with anything because God tells us that I delight in judging things.

Because that's who I am. I created the whole entire universe by my words, with my own counsel. So growing in the knowledge of that he is judging, that he is really thoroughly love and kindness, and that he is concerned about righteousness.

It then gives us a foundation to stand on in knowing that God in his sovereign authority, he is watching over everything concerned about righteousness, concerned about judgment, and concerned about love and kindness.

Which means that anytime you see anything challenging or great, you ought to think about these three things. That it's either when I see something and I feel like God is not reacting to it the way I believe he should, then most likely he's exercising love and kindness.

When you see him not executing judgments towards individuals or people that we think they deserve something, that means he's probably concerned about them being right with him, in right standing with him more than it is about judgment.

So these three things we have to reserve them for him, because he delights in it, he executes them thoroughly. He executes them repellary. And I believe the way this is listed is listed in order of importance.

Love and kindness first, then second judgment. And righteousness in the earth. Which means His love and kindness and His judgment leads, ultimately He's trying to lead everybody towards what? Righteousness.

Because that's His goal. The scripture tells us that God desires that every single person be saved. That's His desire. It's His will, that he wills that everybody be saved. Even the people that we might think are despicable.

His desire is that that person be saved. So which means his love and kindness supersedes judgments. But for you and I, he says, if we ever think of glorying ourselves, if we ever think that we want to celebrate something, or be something, it says don't glory in your riches, or don't glory in your wisdom, or don't glory in your own strength.

Glory in this, that you understand God, and I know Him. There is something about understanding and knowing God. It gives you a level of comfort, and a level of peace that surpasses human understanding.

Because you know and you know in your hearts that everything is okay, in spite of what you see, in spite of how hard things can be. If you know God and you understand Him, there is concern about love and kindness, judgment, then you know that God is in total control.

There's something about knowing God and understanding Him that brings a level of comfort. When we were on Mission Trip, one of my good friends, Dr. Randy, shared a story with us because he was working in ER at Johns Hopkins.

If he says in his early years, he never forget this lady who came in who had a heart attack. He says this was one of those where he knew, I don't know if we can save this lady. He says, We rushed to the OR, are we trying to do what we know how to do.

He said at some point before anesthesia kicked in, he said, She looked at me, and she says, son, I see you all running and running and running around, you know, flying left, right and center.

She says, but I know in whose hands I belong. He says, I'm not worried whether I die or whether I live. I know who has me in this moment. Dr. Randy says, it hit me so hard. that we are all panicking and running and freaking out and this one is running over the anesthesia.

We are all going, the cord rate is going in the hospital and the person we are willing to the OR looks at him and says, Son, I see you all running all over the place, trying to save my life. But I'll tell you this, I ain't afraid of nothing.

I know whose hands I'm in. If I die, it's all great. If I don't, it's all great. That knowledge, that understanding of God is what God is saying we need to grow in that. That's what we need to grow in.

If we are to glory in anything, that knowing the surety that I know God. So, brothers and sisters, this falls in line with what I'm talking about, growing in the Lord and getting better. Getting better, knowing that next year is coming, we gotta be different, we gotta be better, we gotta grow in the knowledge of who God is.

But I'm so grateful that we serve a God that we did those things to grow in. He never leaves it to chance where we have to figure it out. He tells us if we follow strictly, He tells us that if you ever think of glory, glory in this, know me better and understand me.

And if you know me better and understand me, you will know that I'm so much contained about loving kindness, judgment in the earth, and righteousness. Not favor, not faith, even though all those things are necessary and important, but these three things, loving kindness, judgment, and righteousness.

So, brothers and sisters, we ought to exercise these things too, because God delights in them, in love and kindness. We have to be loving and we have to be kind. As for judgment, let's leave that to the Lord.

He knows all things and he sees all things. He is never late. He's always on time. He's not confused. He's not trying to figure it out. He's not making it up as he goes. He's aware of every single detail in this world.

Secret meetings, meetings held in private, meetings held underneath the buildings. He is there. He says, there is nowhere you can go that I'm not and He judges. Look at it. Not only does He judge the things that we see, He judges things that are in people's hearts, unspoken things.

He goes over there and judges it. Why? Because He is concerned about righteousness and that He is loving and He is kind. So it's comforting to know that we serve a God who's on top of it all.

But for you and I, let's grow in the knowledge of God and in understanding it, which means that we ought to spend time with God. What we're doing these mornings, devoting these early mornings to Him, we're trying to grow and to understand who God is.

You ought to be reading your scriptures. You ought to be exegiting scriptures. You ought to be searching scriptures. You ought to be praying at all times without ceasing. You ought to be worshipping Him in spirit and in truth.

Why? So that we can grow in understanding and in knowledge of who God is. Because it's hard to understand His love and kindness and His judgment and righteousness if we don't read scripture, if we don't spend time with Him.

Be He holy, for I am holy. So I want to encourage all of us as we take stock, as we examine our lives in these last three months of the year, and as we start planning for next year, as you start thinking about what God is putting you through and what He's trying to get you to be and to do.

Understanding through the world that we have to grow in the knowledge of who He is and His understanding. That's what we ought to glory in. Not how much wise we are. Not how much mighty or strength we have.

So don't do that. Glory in the fact that you understand me and you know me better. That's the only time we can glory, those times. So, three months to take stock, to study. to understand, to see where the Lord has brought you from, and to understand where He's taking you.

So that next year, as we get ready for next year, and we start thinking about what the Lord is doing, that God can expand us, can grow us, so that we are not the same person. Next year, we want to be like Caleb.

Says I'm 80 now but I'm much stronger than I was 40 years ago. He's an old man, but he says I'm much stronger. He wasn't talking about strength as in energy and power. What Caleb was talking about, I've now grown and know so much about God.

And I understand him so well that today I am way much stronger than I was 40 years ago. So which means that every year we ought to be growing, so we can look back and say, Man, I am stronger than I was last year, and I want my mountain, and I want it today. Let us pray.

Heavenly Father, our blessed Redeemer, words cannot express the magnitude of your loving kindness, how you're concerned about righteousness, how you're concerned about judgment in the earth.

There are things that you know and see that on our best days collectively we cannot. So we are going to rest in you and understand fully well that you have full authority and full scope of what's going on in our world.

But our desire, Lord, as your children, is to keep our eyes away from worthless things and direct them in the path of your commands. Our goal is to know you well, to understand these scriptures, in this holy word, so that we, as your children, can grow in the knowledge, of who you are.

Thank you for your words that gives us direction, that orders our step, that light our path, so that we are never found wanting or confused, not knowing what to do. I thank you for this word that you are giving us in this season where you are pushing us to grow, pushing us to be elevated.

And Father, I pray that in this season of growth, in this season of taking stock, that God, if there are things in us that need some adjustment, help us. If there are things that need to be dropped, help us drop them.

For we desire to grow in understanding and in knowledge of who you are. I pray for peace that surpasses human understanding as we deal with 21st challenges and issues. We take this country and give it to you.

You are the author and perfector of our faith. You know all things, you see all things. You're never late, always on time. Even as we pray so much for this country, we lift up the nation of Jamaica that will be going through this hurricane.

Father, spare human lives so they can be preserved for a day of salvation to come. Pray for angels on assignment, rescuing and bringing order and peace in that whole entire region. We pray, Lord, for the children of Gaza, some who are being left as orphans, but God by your Spirit, guides, protects, and bring peace in that whole entire region.

We pray, Lord, for anyone who might be perishing because of hunger or strife. I pray, Lord, that may your spirit, your angels on assignment, we send them today to bring a level of peace and confidence and faith and hope in this dying world so that somebody's life gets preserved for a day of salvation to come.

It's a sad fight, Lord, when a man dies without salvation. So we pray, Lord, that the death that Jesus experienced on the cross for all of mankind, that all of us will get an opportunity to experience salvation.

I pray for us, those who are strong, that God, in the mighty purpose, that may we find ourselves aiding and being used by you to bring to fruition what you desire to be done in this earth.

I pray for these, your people. May you bless them. in their workplaces, in their homes, in everything they do. Bless the works of their hands. And I pray, Lord, for wisdom and knowledge and understanding of growth in you.

May the Holy Spirit interpret for all of us these scriptures as we encounter them in our reading. I pray, Lord, for strength to uphold your statutes and your values. And we extend the same prayer to our children, so they can stand in the congregation of the mighty.

We stand in full acknowledgement of your Spirit. And we ask you, Lord, now, as we go through this day, guide us, protect us from harm in danger, seen or unseen.

Lead us not into temptation, continue to deliver us from the evil one. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever, Amen.

Brothers and sisters, may the Lord bless you. May His face shine upon you. May these days be filled with blessings, may you walk in expectations of God doing something for you, and may your faith be grown in all that you experience today.

As we give this day back to the Lord, we now stand in awe of what He is going to do today. May the Lord lead you into triumphal perfect procession, and enjoy this Tuesday and we will see you tomorrow morning.
