Thus Says The Lord-Who God Says He Is, His Commandments and Promises
Ezekiel 14:12-14 "Son Of Man, When A Land Sins Against Me By Persistent Unfaithfulness, I Will Stretch Out My Hand Against It; I Will Cut Off Its Supply Of Bread, Send Famine On It, And Cut Off Man And Beast From It."
A wonderful morning, a wonderful morning. I'm sure you woke up to this cold, but my prayer is that you had a wonderful restful night and that the Lord is blessing you, you and your family and everything that you are doing. Let us go to the Lord in prayer.
Heavenly Father, we come before you this morning. We thank you for your goodness and your mercy. We thank you all for all that you have done and what you're still going to do. We thank you for your grace.
We thank you for your love. We thank you, Lord, for all that you have in store for us today. We stand here knowing, Lord, that you have already prepared a plan for us.
So as we come along, I pray, Lord, that you reveal that plan to us and open the eyes of our heart and our understanding. so that we can continuously do the will of the Father in the earth.
Bless us now as we come together in fellowship, in communion with the Holy Spirit, as we look at scriptures and devote this morning to you. We claim our new mercies for this morning.
And Father, bless our time together, and bless our fellowship, and bless the insight you will give us in your word. And we pray this prayer in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen and Amen.
Brothers and sisters, we are back in Ezekiel. If you are joining us for the first time, we've been tracking in the scriptures the words thus sayeth the Lord. The reason we are tracking these words is because as a specie, we desire to hear from our Father.
We desire to hear God speaks to us. And the way God speaks to us is through the scriptures and through the Holy Spirit and through people. And this time we are going to the scriptures because we want to know what the Lord is saying to us in these times.
So we are in Ezekiel 14:12. Now this passage of scripture is very important for you and I to take heed and to understand it because it is really the epitome of what it is to serve the Lord in the midst of chaos.
So in Verse 12, it says this, The word of the Lord came to me. This is Ezekiel speaking, Son of man, if a country sins against me by being unfaithful, and I stretch out my hand against it to cut it off, its food supply, and send say mine upon it and kill its people and their animals.
Let me pause right there before we continue. I come from a country that has experienced a lot of problems. It used to be called the breadbasket of Africa, the Zimbabwe. that the country, as small as it was, was supplying a lot of food to the whole continent of Africa, including Europe, at some point.
The land was so fertile. In fact, Zimbabwean beef was known to be exported a lot in Europe because of its quality. And of course, the leaders over the years became extremely corrupt and did a lot of heinous crimes against humanity.
One of the things that causes heaven to shut over a nation is blood for people that's unaccounted for. And that is taking place in Zimbabwe. And in the 90s, famine came over the land and the nation was cut off from its food supply.
Where the country that used to export food now had to import food. The turnaround was so swift and the chaos that ensued after that was extremely dramatic. I remember there's times when people could not get bread in supermarkets.
The only thing you could possibly find was salt. How strange that was because the nation was cut off from its food supply. And you could definitely see that the hand of the Lord was judging the nation because of the heinous crimes the leadership was pushing to the masses.
And this is important because our war world, as we can see, is going through these difficult times. In fact, if we want, we could research countries where there is countries or state where there is drought, where there is famine, and you could realize there's a correlation between that and the way its citizens live.
Most times they are unfaithful to the cause of Christianity or to the cause of Christ and when that happens there will be famine there will be no rain and we see it in scriptures same thing was going on in Israel.
When Elijah told the nation there will be no rain or a dew for seven years because there were things that were going on in the country and heaven was shut. So the scripture in Ezekiel is repeating the same message that when a country sins against God and becomes unfaithful to the cause of Christianity or humanity.
God says I will stretch out my hand against it and cut it off from its food supply and send famine upon its and it will kill its people and their animals. There is so much to unpack here and so much to look.
Even in our country, food shortages are becoming a thing. Farmers have been the most affected because of what's going on with tariffs and all this crazy stuff, right? You can see it.
It's out there for everybody to see. And when farming is disrupted, it leads to hunger. And now we're having to export all of our food supply. And then the people that are supposed to work in farms most of them are being deported.
And the ultimate result of that is that there will be hunger and famine. Why are we going to have this? It's because when a country sins God's response is right there. I'll cut it off from food supply and send famine upon its people and their animals.
Now, here comes the most important part, verse 14. Even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they could only serve only themselves by their righteousness declares the sovereign God.
So, we are given Noah, we are given Daniel, we are given Job, and it's an example of how to live when a nation is sinning or is being unfaithful against God. So we have Noah, Daniel, and Job.
Now, the scripture says, Noah was found righteous in his generation. And Daniel was found undefiled in his generation. Job, even though he faced numerous issues and challenges, he could not go against God.
Those are the examples of people that God is saying to us. You and I, in our walk, we have to be these people in the midst of this chaos. You have to be like a Daniel. You have to be like a Job. You have to be like a Noah.
Why? Because these men, during these difficult times in their nations, these three stood out. And if we understand the story of Noah and Daniel and Job, you realize that they became the reference points in which God could deal with society.
And because of Noah's righteousness, the earth was preserved. Because of Daniel's strength, captivity was cut short by three years. So we, as believers, we have a responsibility to uphold what God is telling us to uphold in the midst of chaos.
We have to be strong in the Lord so that we can become an example when challenges and difficult times come to a nation. The scripture says, Matthew, Luke, they talk about this is Jesus.
It says, my second coming will be just like the days of Noah. People were marrying, partying, and they were having a good time, drinking and marrying until the flood came. 26 says, and as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the son of man.
And then we know what was happening in the days of Noah. Eating, drinking, marrying, giving in marriage and partying. People were unaware. Until the flood came, that's when they opened their eyes, oh my God.
But Noah was found righteous in his generation. So which means you and I, we have to be found righteous. We have to be found steadfast, not bending too, like Daniel. not being defiled by what's going on around us.
One of the telltale signs when famine comes to a land is that corruption goes up high. I've seen it in Zimbabwe. And if you are going to be successful in that generation, most likely you're going to be corrupt too.
Because everything that goes on becomes, will be about corruption. And during that time in Zimbabwe, and it's still happening, is that the only way you can be successful, you have to be corrupt.
The only way you can do anything, you have to deal with corrupt people but you cannot bend. I'll give you a good example my pastor and my bishop in Zimbabwe has been trying to build a church for the past 10 years.
All the resources are there, the money to do it is there. But the reason that building cannot go up is because you're dealing with a corrupt regime that says the only way you can do it, you can't build that until you pay us a cut, until you do that, until you do that.
And his refusal to not engage in that is now forced this project to not be done at all and to not be finished. It should have been finished five years ago. But just because of his refusal and the desire to be found righteous in his generation, he went to have to face all kinds of opposition.
And there's people who are coming behind him that are willing to bend and they're building churches in record time. And do you know the only reason that's happening is because they've bent to the system.
The same thing is happening in this country where people are bending to the system and hence they become successful. But you and I as believers, we have a responsibility to be like Noah, to be like Daniel, and to be like Job that when hell comes, we stand.
We stand because we become the reference point in which God interacts with society. If you've been coming to Sunday Bible study, one of the things we're talking about is generations.
And this transitional period when one generation crosses over and another is coming behind. And the things that takes place during that time and one of the things that we have to become is righteous, steadfast.
Continue to stand for God because we become the example that God will use in order to save humanity. If Noah was found righteous, it means God was searching for a righteous man.
And he found a righteous man and what does the scripture say about a righteous man? The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
And if you take heed to prophets, you receive a prophet's reward. And the nation of Israel received a prophet's reward. Their days in captivity were cut short by three years because of Daniel.
So we got it. We have a responsibility brothers and sisters, we have a responsibility to be found righteous. In this generation, to be found steadfast on God's statutes in this generation.
Against all odds, when somebody comes and says, we want you to curse God, or we want you to just give up on God, we have to be the one standing and say, no, I will not. If we are to become an example, to survive, and also to become the hope of a nation.
Again, when a nation sins against God, a country sins against God, by being unfaithful, that's the sin. By being unfaithful, I would stretch out my hand, against it, and cut off its food supply and send famine and kill people and their animals.
Then even these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it. They could serve only themselves by their righteousness. They could serve only themselves by their righteousness.
Not by wisdom, not by collecting money, not by being good stewards. All those things are important and necessary. Not by storing food. All those things might be great and important.
But the best way to save yourself in a corrupt generation is to be found righteous, like Noah, Daniel, and Job. That's our responsibility as believers, that whatever you do, wherever you go, be found righteous.
Righteousness is a desire. You can't conjure it up, you can't figure it out, it's a desire and Christ Himself is our righteousness. And once you have a desire to be righteous, then Christ Himself will do it in you.
But the most important thing is to have a desire to be righteous. That's why the scripture says Jesus presents us to the Father is holy and acceptable. And you have heard me say that the quickest way to holiness and righteousness is through temptation.
When you get tempted and you resist, you become righteous and holy. So we must be found righteous. And when does temptation come? When they strive in the land. When there's shortages, when there is challenges, temptation comes.
When you're broke, temptation comes. When you're hungry, temptation comes. When you're thirsty, temptation comes. But let’s know when to resist. But it starts with the desire of wanting to be righteous.
So let us be found righteous in our generation. Let us be found righteous in our generation. The examples is Noah, Daniel, and Job. And in your spare time, if you can, read about Noah, read about Job, read about Daniel.
Remind yourself of what they did, how they stood, so that we can be found righteous in our generation. Let us pray. Heavenly Father, our blessed Redeemer, our words cannot express the magnitude of who you are.
The love that you have for us we can't fathom it. Neither can we contain it. It's deep, it's wide, it's beyond the realm of our imagination. That centuries ago, you could put scriptures and get it canonized so that us in 2025 will be encouraged by these holy scriptures.
So we can continue to find our path in our journey back to heaven. Lord, I pray in these dire times that the wisdom to continue to be righteous be part of our daily portion. I pray for strength.
I pray for courage, I pray for determination, in our efforts, as we serve you, as we abide by your statutes and values, and as we commune with the Holy Spirit and fellowship with one another.
May you by your Spirit continue to guide us in all things true, in all things right, so that we can stand against the vials of the enemy. Your word commands us to not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against rulers and principalities in the heavenly places.
That when we have done all to stand, that we will stand so that we can enforce the victory of the cross. We thank Jesus for dying on the cross and giving us the fulfillment of salvation.
In that now, when we are weak, He is strong. When we are lost, we can be found. When our hearts are overwhelmed, that He can lead us to a rock that is higher than us, that we can receive peace that surpasses human understanding.
Lord, I pray that in these difficult times, may we not see the difficulties, but rather see the opportunity to stand firm in the word of the Lord, knowing, Lord, that our righteousness will save us against all odds.
Lord, I pray that we keep our eyes on you and turn them away from worthless things and continue to direct us in the path of your commands. I pray, Lord, that in these times, may we hold fast to the confession of our faith, knowing that our faith will endure and that our hope is in you.
We hold on to the words of these scriptures, to the values that we receive in these scriptures, to the counsel that we receive from the Holy Spirit. We are asking you, Lord, that may we be favored by being found righteous in our generation.
We extend the same prayer to our children, that may you guide them amongst their peers and preserve the sanctity of their souls amongst their peers, so that they can be an example for somebody to glean from.
I pray for courage and determination in our children to do that which is right in the midst of challenges, in the midst of peer pressure, in the midst of a society or a generation that may be going rogue.
I pray, Lord, that may they be found righteous in their generation. Give us the wisdom to teach them the things they should know, knowing perfectly well that what we do not teach will be lost in translation.
I pray for every family represented here. That may it be preserved as our names are written in Christ Jesus. I pray for every broken relationship to be made whole, for forgiveness and reconciliation to be part of our portion.
Send the Holy Spirit to do the work on our behalf, to soften hearts, so that reconciliation can take place. We command angels on assignment to bring reconciliation to where it has been lost.
I pray, Lord, that as we do our part in this kingdom, as a group, as we come together in these morning times to worship, to pray together, to fellowship with one another.
May they be filled by the counsel of the Holy Spirit to enable us to do all that you are calling us to do, individually and also as a community.
Father, I pray that in days to come that we will see the hand of the Lord on our lives as we continue to execute thus, says the Lord. Help us in our efforts and in our desire to do that which is right.
I know, Lord, that in our efforts sometimes we make mistakes, sometimes we procrastinate, sometimes we do things because our interpretation of what you are telling us might be wrong.
But Father, above all else, may you see our intent and our heart's measures, as we desire to be the light, the salt in the midst of darkness. Help our unbelief when it sets in. Give us courage when our effort has been lost.
And I pray, Lord, that may our confidence in you continue to grow. As we read scriptures, as we fellowship with one another, as we have conversation with one another, remind us that we are part of a church that is 2000 years old, that is its foundation set in stone.
May you help us to connect with those so that our efforts are not in vain. Father, I pray for healing across the board, that every single one of us, we are totally healed. Your word says your spirit was present to heal them all.
So Father, heal all of us, heal extended family, heal nieces and nephews, heal parents, our children, and while in this neighborhood of healing, we pray for Nadia's mother, and we say upon to you, daughter of Zion, arise, get up, and be healed in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We send angels on assignment to bring healing on that entire ward. Touch every soul that needs healing in the name of Jesus. We thank you Lord for the desire to be healed. Even yesterday as I visited in hospital I felt it in her hand.
And I pray Lord that may you by your grace invade that whole entire ward and heal this daughter of Zion in the name of Jesus. We say rise up and be whole again in the name of Jesus.
I pray Lord for all that you have in store for us. That we will experience it, we will touch it, we will feel it in the name of Jesus. Now we command the blessing of the Lord upon every single person who is listening, and upon every family represented here.
That God, we will walk in victory, that we will exercise dominion and power and authority because it was given to us, that the mysteries of this kingdom belongs to us. And Father, we want to experience them and we want to walk in them.
And we want to touch them and we want others to see them in us. So bless our kids, every single one of them. Bless the works of their hands, bless their little minds as they hunger and thirst after you.
And I pray for every talent and every gift to be accounted for. No wasting of time, no procrastination, but God that our children will rise up as arrows that will shoot into the world in the name of Jesus.
We secure their lives, even through the marriages and girls and boys, they will meet when the time comes, that God may they also be preserved, even now in the name of Jesus. Now we ask for blessing for this day, for favor on this day, for Your will to be done in the earth on this day.
Help us in our efforts to remain steadfast in this kingdom. And we ask, Lord, that may Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Lead us not into temptation, but continue to deliver us from the evil one.
For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever, Amen and Amen. Brothers and sisters, Noah, Daniel, and Job, that's the standard. That's the standard in the midst of chaos, those three.
Study them, read about them, understand their lives, search every word they spoke so that you can find a reference point to stand on in this midst of chaos. May the Lord bless you.
May we all have an incredible, phenomenal day, and we will see you tomorrow morning. Invite a friend, tell a friend, because we need to go to greater heights. And we want as many people to be saved for this kingdom's cause and we will see you tomorrow.
