"Waiting On The Holy Spirit - Getting Our Hearts Ready for Pentecost"

"1 Samuel 16:13-14 - The Anointing Of David"

A very good morning to everybody. I hope you had a wonderful and restful night. And ready for another day the Lord has made. This is the day the Lord has made we will rejoice and be glad in it. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law.

We are crucified with Christ. Nevertheless, we live not yet us, but Christ lives by faith in us, his word dwells in us richly and we are able to say we are blessed, we are healed, we are set free, sickness cannot dwell in us.

The number of our days he will fulfill sin will not dominate us because the seed of God's word lives in us. We believe that Jesus Christ came to the Earth and died on the cross. So we have the abundant life and the victory that he provided through his death.

Now no weapon formed against us shall prosper, and we are more than conquerors because of his great love. Greater is he that is in you, that is in me. And we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us as the redeemed of the Lord we declared and say so.

Brothers and sisters, today we want to it's a very special verse and I think this this word here slowly but surely, you can see it being eliminated in the Christian values and statutes.

I have no idea why, but it is extremely important. Extremely important in fact this is what we need if we are to deal with all the challenges and things that we face in this lifetime. So today we are in 1 Samuel chapter 16:13

Remember we are looking and preparing our hearts for the day of Pentecost, which is Sunday 8th of June. And according to the Christian calendar, the day of Pentecost falls 50 days after Jesus Ascension, when the disciples were waiting at the beach for the Holy Spirit to be poured out.

Why did they need the Holy Spirit to be poured out so that they could get the power that will enable them to do what Jesus has commanded them to do, which is to go out on the whole entire world and preach this gospel in its entirety

This is why greater works did the disciples do after they received the power of the Holy Ghost. Now in this chapter we have David being anointed as the King of Israel. And David is being anointed so that he can lead a mission.

But there's a reason why he's being anointed. It's not because he was just chosen, but it's because he was chosen but his experience is with the Lord brought into this place. So in 13, Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers.

And from that day on, from that day on, the spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David and some how went to Rama. Now the interesting thing about the second verse 14 is that the opposite was taking place in the previous king, who was Saul.

It says now the spirit of the Lord had departed from Saul. And an evil spirit of the Lord tormented him. This is why we need anointing. Because without anointing evil spirits get free reign to do whatever they choose to do without anointing, evil spirits come.

Brothers and sisters where the spirit of the Lord is, the scripture says there is a liberty. Which means where the spirit of the Lord is not there is strife and anointing is so needed especially now it's so needed.

One of the reasons why the enemy is just having a free reign in this country is because the levels of anointing have gone down or they've actually dried up. Now people who are not anointed are being ordained.

People who don't have any traits of any kind of anointing wants to go and challenge demonic positions and places. And what we have in the end is a free reign of the spirit of evil spirits in people, in places and in family.

So anointing is very important guys. We need anointing. We need to be anointed. We need to be anointed. Now we don't get anointed just because we choose to anoint. We get anointed because there is history between the person and the Lord.

David was not being anointed because he was David because he was the small guy, no. David had experiences and encounters with the Lord in the wilderness, his experiences and encounters.

Getting conviction to know that surely the Lord is powerful. That conviction of knowing and working with the Lord is what leaves people to be anointed. You know when you know and you know and you know. That you know that knowing that the Lord is with me.

That knowing that I am in the Lord. That I've seen things and have been through things with the Lord. That knowing that man where I used to be, I'm no longer because the power of God is moving from point A to point B.

That conviction that surely the Lord is powerful is what leads you to anointing. The difference between Saul and David is that Saul was anointed because he was tall, handsome because that's who they wanted.

David was anointed because he had experiences with the Lord. That nobody could take away from him. This is why the scripture says, count it all joy when you face trials and tribulations because when you persevere, how do you persevere?

You persevere because the Lord is with you. And after you have persevered and the Lord is with you what comes out of that perseverance is the conviction. That surely I know the Lord. That I know him for me, not for somebody else.

Not what I've heard because my experiences and things that I've been through in life. I know and I know and I know the Lord. That conviction leads you to be anointed. Now when you think about what's anointing is, because of course we are talking about him being anointed with oil.

You know when we start anointing people with oil, that's the physical. That's the literal and physical part of it. But as we know as it is in spirit, so surely be in the physical. So the first place you get anointed is spiritually. Before the physical aspect of his take place.

So our meeting is extremely important. Thou art the Christ. What does Christ means? The anointed one. Why was he anointed? Because he broke every kind of curse and yokes anointing breaks yokes, right.

So without the anointing, there's no breaking of any kind of yokes. This is why we need anointing. And one of the ways you know, the devil has a free reign is when yokes are everywhere. And they come see him because this is why Christ comes and says, hey, take my yoke.

It's easy give me yours. Why is he saying give me yours? Because I am anointed to break every yoke that can be found in every human being. So without anointing, there's no breaking of yokes and this is one of the reasons why people will work for years in the church carrying issues.

Because there is no level of anointing that can match the issue. This is why we need to be anointed. But it's not just going to come without experiences. So what we need, what you need, what I need is experiences and encounters with the Lord.

There is nothing like a day of visitation. When God chooses to indulge you and you have your own experience. That nobody can tell you or take away from you. There's nothing like it when you have been in the presence of the Lord by yourself and you know, you know, the Lord came and visited me.

That level of knowledge and experience brings you to a place where there are anointing of God rests upon you. The scripture says Samuel, anointed him in the presence of his brothers.

And from that day on that particular day, on the spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David. We want this to be faith of you. From that day on, the spirit of the Lord came powerfully and rested on Veronica.

From that day, the spirit of the Lord came powerfully and rested on Sarge. From that day on. So on and so on we want this to be the story of our lives of your Christian journey, that from that day onward. Through the Lord came powerfully and rested upon you.

Again, we will get an opportunity to anoint people. And we are not going to do it just because we are going to do it because we want this to be true. That when that day happens, when you are anointed with oil, the spirit of the Lord will come powerfully on you from that day forth.

We need this if we are to survive the treacherous things that are being thrown at us in this world, we need it. We cannot survive this Christian walk without anointing. Can you imagine what David's life would have been. And his interactions with Saul would have been if he was never anointed.

This boy would have been killed by Saul. Inasmuch as David says touch not my anointed, says I will not touch King Soul because he was anointed so much as much in as much as that, Saul could not touch David too because he was anointed.

The scripture says touch, not my anointed, and do my prophecy harm. So in other words we use this scripture liberally and throw it out there like a piece of candy. God, you, God does not annoying to you because he has nothing better to do.

God are no interest because they are yokes that needs to be dealt with in people. While we're at this, I think let's just run through some things about anointing. So we really understand what was happening here with David.

So the first mention of the word anointing in the Bible is in Genesis 28:18. When Jacob anointed his stone pillar. Anointing is a practice that was used in the Old Testament to concentrate people, places in objects for God's services.

In the New Testament, it was used to concentrate people for God service to them. So David, Saul first kings to be amounted. Then Aaron was also Aaron's sons was also anointed as priests by Moses.

Now the seven manifestations of anointing the seven manifestations of anointing, 1 is the spirit of the Lord. The spirit of the Lord has to be present. Wisdom is a manifestation of the anointing. Understanding is a manifestation of the anointing.

Council is a manifestation of the anointing, might power is a manifestation of the anointing. Knowledge is a manifestation of the anointing. The fear of the Lord is a manifestation of the anointing.

Without anointing you can see the whole range of what the anointing can tackle. And anointing has three levels of influence 3 levels of anointing the three levels of anointing. Sorry is influence.

Situational empowerment where in the moment there's a situation that needs somebody who is anointing to deal with. And in that moment, he might be the only person available, and God anoints you to do something. And these are the instances when you hear somebody saying, man, I don't know how I did it, but I just did it.

I wasn't even sure what I was doing, but I did it. The situation now anointing. In situational empowerment and then the indwelling of presence of God. That's what happened to David in this scripture we just read.

Says from that day onward there was an indwelling that took place and the spirit of the Lord sat with David for the rest of his life. Brothers and sisters I want us to recognize and to know that all the challenges that we will ever face or we are facing.

They are yokes that lead us to bondage if they are not dealt with, if a situation or an issue is not dealt with. It leads you to bondage. The only way I know to deal with any kind of situation that leads to bondage is through anointing.

That's why there is levels and realms of anointing. We need it in order to continue breaking yokes. God does not anoint you because he has nothing better to do. You are and you will be anointed as long as you have experiences with God.

That leads you to a greater level of conviction of the power of God. When you know that, you know that surely God is powerful that knowing gives you or causes you to receive Spiritual anointing. Now you have to go through some things to be anointed.

This does not just come because we don't want to do anything. It comes because we have to go through things. That's why Scripture says again, count it all joy brothers and sisters, when you face trials and tribulations.

Because what you get out of that as much as you get, persevere and that's why Jesus said let perseverance finish its work so that you can be found to be perfect. Anointing is perfection in the spirit of the Lord. Not in you, in the spirit of the Lord that's anointing.

Then again, when you absolutely see how scriptures are layered right. You realize joy in the Holy Ghost. How do we have joy? When this stuff has been dealt with, right? And how do we deal with stuff?

When there is levels and realms of anointing. And how do we get to that when we have gone through stuff. So that there's a conviction that is developed in us of knowing that surely the Lord is with me. That knowing causes the Lord to now anoint you.

First, spiritually, then second, we do it physically in order to recognize what has already taken place spiritually. And now when you carry this level of anointing when the spirit of the Lord sits on you and never leaves.

That's when we get to do exploits. That's when we get to break yokes in us in other people's lives. We need anointing, we need it. And we saw again in 14 why we need it. Apart from dealing with our issues and a part of breaking yokes.

You know one of the reasons we need anointing is because whenever anointing is not present, the devil has a free reign. I refuse and you should refuse too. To be in church for years and not see the power of God.

We see people get healed, we'll see people get transformed. You cannot encounter the spirit of God for years and remain the same it's impossible. This is why we are crying out for the spirit of God.

This is why we are praying that Lord on the day of Pentecost come upon us. Because we have yokes that we need to deal with. In our children in our own lives, in our friends lives. Because the instruction was greater works will you do than I did.

That was the instruction and we can't do. You can't fulfill that instruction without anointing. David could not be King of Israel without being anointed. God, David could not be a man after God's own heart without being anointed, could not be.

David could not write the Psalms without being anointed. We need to be anointed first, spiritually, 2 literally. Now, brothers and sisters, they are realms and levels of anointing. The greater the encounters, you continue to have with God.

The greater the levels of anointing you walking. Jesus, I know, Peter I know. Who are you? The reason why the devil could say that, he says. I recognize their anointing in Jesus and in Peter and I don't see an anointing in you and I'm scared.

So we need to go to greater heights and greater levels of anointing. So that we can tackle some issues. And brothers and sisters you know, just for our own joy, I want us to just think about stuff that we could not do two years ago, three years ago, and now we find ourselves comfortably doing those things like it's second nature.

It’s because you are growing in levels of anointing. The realms are being added and we can't stop here now. We've come too far and we need to go further. The only way we go further is we continue having experiences with the Lord and the more experiences we have the more the Holy Spirit indulges us.

The more the Holy Spirit sits on us. The greater the level of anointing that we walk with and in and the greater the level, the greater the yokes we will tackle. Look at the disciples after they received the Holy Spirit in Acts 1.

Few days ago, few weeks ago, they ran out of the garden. Peter denied Jesus profusely but look at him, his shadow was healing people as he was walking by. Realms and levels of anointing.

That's what we need in the absence of anointing, the devil has free reign, to do whatever he desires to do. This is why we anoint our homes. We anoint our children and on June 8th, we'll get an opportunity to do this, to anoint people, anoint other children.

So we can recognize what this spirit has been doing and is doing in all of us. This is how we grow in our faith. So homework assignment. I want you to desire to be anointed. But it comes at a cost, brothers and sisters. Got to spend time with the Lord.

I want you to desire to be anointed because you know that there are things we need to deal with, and if you don't have things to deal with, you know, there are things that are coming for you to deal with and you rather be anointed before they come.

Amen, David killed a bear, was out there in the wilderness then goes by himself. And through his experiences with the Lord that's why he could stand in front Goliath, he says who are you? Who can defile our God? The one God that I know.

The one I've been with. The one I have experiences with. Man I'll fight you. That's how David got anointed experiences with the Lord. So our work assignment when you see challenges, look them as opportunity.

I'm about to have an experience with the Lord here. And when I'm done and I'm on the other side of these challenges or I know I'll be anointed. I know that I'll be anointed. So, desire anointing. Desire to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

So that we can deal with things that we know we need to deal with or that we know are coming. You will encounter some people. We have challenges that you have never heard before?

Brothers and sisters, every Thursday I volunteer and go teach at the Lovelady Center to recovery drug addicts. All kinds of issues that people are dealing with, they are over the recovery. The stories that I hear. The experience that people have been through.

Sometimes you want to run and you only realize the only way I can do this. The only way I can hear this, the only way I can encourage is not in my own strength. God has to unwind to be his spirit has to be with me.

Otherwise I'm just a human being. But you need to be anointed spiritually and physically. So let's continue to prepare our hearts. June 8th is coming. Let's prepare our hearts, Amen let us pray.  Heavenly Father, Our blessed Redeemer words cannot express the magnitude of who you are.

You have gently caught us into your presence, guiding us by the Holy Spirit. Now we ask you, Lord, to teach us, dear Lord, to devote our lives to you. There are things we want to do and to accomplish and we need to be anointed for them.

And I'm praying, Lord that in our experiences with you may a conviction be birthed in us just knowing and knowing that surely with us, can that be breathed in us so that we can walk in levels and realms of anointing that breaks generational curses. That breaks family issues and challenges.

That challenges demonic possessed places. Father, I pray that as you continue to pour your spirit on us. We want it to be so strong in us. So that in our encounters with others somebody gets to believe in you. Continue to bless us.

We need it, Lord. Continue to visit us spiritually because we need to be filled. Father I pray that as we continue to look to be used where our help comes from. May you continue to bless us mightily in the way that we should go.

Bless our children in the way they should go. So when they grow up, they will not depart from that journey. I pray for the many challenges we might be facing. Reminder us that those are opportunities to see the power of God on the move.

As we head into today, we go with greater expectations that in this day you have already released new mercies. And on this day you have already given us, you've already released an agenda for the day. We know you are doing something in the Earth today.

And Father, we want to be part of it. We know there are others that have already been up in New Zealand for more than 12 hours now and they are working already in things that you have released in the Earth today. And Father, we want to walk through them too.

I pray for opportunities to minister to somebody. So they know this gospel inasmuch as we know it. I pray for strength, courage, boldness and determination to pursue the things that we know are right.

Give us courage to execute things as you're calling us to execute what we cannot do for ourselves send help. May you protect our children from harm and danger as they are in institutions of learning.

Close their ears and eyes and direct them away from the issues of this world and direct them towards the commandments that you have set for this Kingdom. I pray for every family represented here.

Bless every single one of us as we go into today. May we be bold, may we be courageous in the power of our Lord Jesus Christ. Open our ears and our eyes to see truth that you have revealed to us today.

May you by your spirit guide us in triumph and procession. Now lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For thine is the Kingdom, the power, the glory, forever and ever, Amen.

Brothers and sisters, you need to be anointed, hunger for it, thirst for it, look for it because we need it. Have a wonderful day.
