"Waiting On The Holy Spirit - Getting Our Hearts Ready for Pentecost"
"Mark13:11 - Do Not Worry Before Hand What To Say, Just Say What Is Given You At The Time, For It Is Not You Speaking But The Holy Spirit"
Good morning, family. Blessed be this day that the Lord has made and we shall be glad and rejoice in it. Praise God to this day. Thank you for joining us this morning on the Prayer Works Morning Devotion.
Hope you had a wonderful, nice long weekend and that all was well with you. Hopefully if you are out barbecuing, you had good weather for it here in North Carolina we had rain yesterday so it turned out that Sunday would have been the best day for us to be out barbecuing and eating.
So, today we are going to talk about something similar to what Pastor Zee spoke about yesterday, and that's Holy Spirit giving you words to speak in the moment that you need to speak.
Then today we will be looking at it from a different verse or a different chapter, and this is coming from the book of Mark and our verse for today is going to come from i believe it'sverse 11.
So with that said, let's go to the Lord in prayer. Heavenly Father we come before you this day. We give you praise, honor and glory because you alone are worthy. We thank you, Father, for your mercy and your Grace and your kindness.
We thank you, father, for your protections. We thank you for your understanding of our human frailty. And we thank you that you still deal with us, you still love us and you still keep us under the shadow of your wings.
And so we pray for others as we go forth in this day for you to lead us with the Holy Spirit. Leading charge and giving us all that we need this day to do the works that you've said before us to do, we pray your blessing on each and everyone here, Father.
And we pray most of all for your blessing on this word this morning. Pray that Holy Spirit will lead us and give us the nutrients from your word that we need to sustain us this day, so I'm praying this, thanking you for allowing me to lead this morning.
And I pray that only your words be spoken this day. We give you all praise, honor and glory, and it's in Jesus name we pray, Amen. So coming from the book of Mark 13, our verse for today is going to be verse 11.
However, we are going to start this at the beginning and see what precedes Jesus telling the disciples what he told them in verse 11. So it says from verse one as Jesus was leaving the temple.
One of his disciples asked him. Look, teacher what a massive stone and he's looking at the buildings that encompass and make up the temple. And so, he says, do you see these great buildings Jesus replied not one stone here will be left on another.
Everyone will be thrown down, as Jesus was sitting on the mount of olives opposite the Temple, Peter James John Andrew asked him privately. Tell us when will these things happen and what will be the sign that they are all about to be fulfilled.
Jesus said to them, watch out that no one deceives you. Many will come in my name claiming I am Christ and will deceive many. When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed to such things must happen, but the end is still to come.
Nation will rise against Nation and Kingdom against Kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains. You must be on your guard.
You will be handed over to local councils and flogged in the synagogue on account of me you will stand before governors and kings as witnesses to them. And the gospel must first be preached to all the nations.
And our focused verse for today, whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at that time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
So this is one of the scriptures that I love hearing and reading this myself, especially in the book of Matthew. Matthew happens to be my favorite book and so Mark here is giving us a glimpse in a different light and the wording is slightly different, but the meanings are the same.
Here God is telling us Jesus, which is God. He is telling us that Holy Spirit will give us what we need in the moment that we need it, now, this was the beginning of the church. This would have been proceeding the church.
This matter of fact, is before even the apostles left Jesus as Jesus was being taken up on the cross. This was even before that, so they had no idea what was really going to happen to them.
And it's like us we as Christians, we follow what God tells us to do through his word and even though we trust in God, we trust in his spirit from time to time, we don't know what's going to happen, you know, we wake up today and we don't know within the next hour what this world is going to bring, you know.
The saying is that you know, we plan our steps, but God orders our path and so we don't know from moment to moment where we stand. And so this scripture verse 11, whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand what to say.
Just say whatever is given you at that time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit. This is a scripture that should bring us comfort knowing that in a moments notice, when we might be caught up in some form of governmental crackdown for example.
Which, as we can look at the world and see how the world is quickly changing, we may find ourselves subjected to government crackdown on our ability to speak freely, for example, to speak about God for example and in those moments like here in this chapter, where the disciples were being told from Jesus.
That they might have to go before kings and governors and be a witness. Well, in that case, well, what am I going to say? What can I say that's going to in influence the outcome of my situation or better yet, further God's Kingdom on earth.
What can I say? Little old me? Well, this scripture here should give us comfort and pause because in that moment, it's not going to be us speaking it's going to be Holy Spirit speaking through us.
This morning, brother Pastor Zee should have been giving this because he has been so good at dissecting this journey that we've been on up to Pentecost, but it was a surprise that I would have to leave this morning and I'm saying this just so that you understand.
That at a moments notice you may be requested to give a word or speak about God's goodness in your life, how God has blessed you, strengthened you, built up your faith and this again is an example of why we should not fear having to speak or wonder what we're going to say.
All right, it's just allowing yourself as of vessel to be used so that God could bring forth a word from you and show fruit from you that others might be able to eat upon and consume and apply in their own lives.
So all that to say as we go forth as Christians as we go forward as followers in the word, we are not just following, we are not just hearing, but we have to do. I was listening to a pastor last night and he made a statement that resonated with me.
You know, it's that faith requires a move forward. You don't stay in the same place as you hear Pastor Zee always say that you've been in. If you've been a follower, if you've been a believer for 20 years or more years and you are not progressing in your faith, you are not becoming more affirmed.
You're not becoming more confident in what God is challenging you to do for his Kingdom. Then you really have to examine yourself and examine your faith because as Pastor Zee likes to say you can't be the same Christian that you were 20 years ago today, you should have moved forward in your knowledge and your thinking and in your trust.
So here I'm saying and the Scriptures are saying that you should not be fearful. You should not be worried about what you are going to have to say at a moments notice, whether it's leading the prayer call leading the Bible study or witnessing to kings and governors as it says here in the scriptures about God's goodness and grace in your life.
One of the testimonies that really touched me is Stephen, you know, and when Stephen was taxed with preaching to the Israelites about their waywardness. Right down to death, Stephen was telling them just how it was and sometimes the truth hurts.
And in the case of Stephen, he died for preaching the truth. So the question is, are we willing to die while preaching the truth. And This is why this scripture is so profound that if ever you are brought to trial.
Do not worry beforehand what you are going to say, because it's not you that will be speaking in that time. It is the Holy Spirit that's going to be speaking in you, so don't fear family.
Don't worry about what you are going to need to do or say in a moments notice. Just be a willing vessel and allow the spirit to use you in a moments notice to do God's work and his will. Let's pray.
Heavenly Father, we come before you again to thank you for this day, thanking you for your willingness to use us as children of the Most High, we thank you, Father, that you have blessed us to your son Jesus.
We thank you that we stand reconciled to you in our faith and our belief, and we pray Father that as we grow in the knowledge of you that you continue to use us, that we are willing vessels for your cause and for your Kingdom.
Father, we give you all honor and glory because you alone are worthy and we thank you Father that you have given us a new lease on life, not life here on this earth, but as citizens of heaven.
Because we know ultimately where we belong. And so we thank you, Father, that you have chosen us, that you have lifted us up out of the mire, out of all of what we might have experienced, lived through done in our past life.
But we know that you Are the one that leads us along the path of righteousness for your namesake. So thank you Father for your grace and mercy this day. Thank you Father for the word that you gave me this morning.
Thank you for pushing me this morning to do the work that you've set before me to do Father.
I pray Father for this word that you've given to be on the hearts and minds of all of those that are on this call represented today that they can walk in faith and love, and the knowledge that you go before them and you make the crooked road straight.
So, Father, we pray this day now as we go forth into this day to give us your mind, to give us your heart so that we can walk proudly and claim your Kingdom as our Kingdom and we can preach to others as the scripture says to all the nations.
Until all nations know you, then your Kingdom will come. So we pray, Father, that this is our mindset. This is our way of being. This is the walk that we are choosing to walk Father, not in our own strength, because we know that we are no one.
We can do nothing of our own accord. But everything is possible with you and you are the one that leads us in all things the Holy Spirit through Jesus. Giving us everything that we need.
So, Father, we thank you for this day. We thank you for your love and your patience, your kindness and we give you all praise, honor and glory.
Now Father, as we go forth in this day, lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power and the glory forever and ever in Jesus name we pray, Amen and Amen.
Thank you family for being with us this morning, thank you for spending time out of your early morning to give God praise and honor to put him first in all things. And remember, even if you're in the supermarket today.
Let the Holy Spirit use you. If you come upon someone, don't be afraid. Don't think about what it is that you're going to say, but let the Holy Spirit give you the words trust in God, knowing that he's right there with you, and if it's his will for you to say something, be willing to say it.
Don't be the blockage, don't stand in the way and not do what God has put in your heart to do. Have a blessed day family. We look forward to spending more time again tomorrow morning. God bless you.
