"Waiting On The Holy Spirit - Getting Our Hearts Ready for Pentecost"
"Joel 2:28-29 - God's Spirit Poured Out "
Good morning, everybody. Very good morning. I pray you had a wonderful night and woke up ready for another day. Let's go to the Lord in prayer. Heavenly Father, we come before you today.
We thank you for your goodness and your mercy towards us, and thank you for this day that you have made. We are rejoicing in it and we are glad in it. Thank you for redeeming us from the curse of the law, even though we are crucified with you.
You still yet but live. Thank you that we now have this gift of Christ living in us, and we have this abundant life and the victory that he has provided through the cross. Therefore, no weapon is formed against us shall prosper.
We are more than conquerors because of your great love. Greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world and we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us as the redeemed of the Lord, we say so.
We bless you and we honor you as we look into this word. May you bless our souls and our spirit, and we thank you, Lord, for the gift of the Holy Spirit. And we thank you, Lord, for coming together in fellowship and communion with each other and also with you.
So reveal yourself to us in any way that you choose to and Father will forever be grateful, knowing love that our lives are made much simpler because you have gifted us with the gift of the Holy Spirit.
So we bless you and we honor you in Jesus name, Amen. Brothers and sisters I hope that you are experiencing what I'm experiencing. You cannot talk about the Holy Spirit and not see him, or not hear him, or not him responding.
I want you to imagine, you know you're in a room full of people and you overhear people talk about your name in the corner. It’s impossible for you to ignore it. And to not go and hear about what they are saying, it's just impossible.
The Holy Spirit is a divine person that when you start talking about him he makes you of that, he becomes presents in a way that you can hear him, you can feel him, you can touch him.
So I'm praying that as we talking about the Holy Spirit that you are also experiencing in your day-to-day walk his presence and you're hearing him. Yesterday I was driving down to 80 you know, listening to this song Lord's Prayer.
And you could, I could feel it in my car how so strong it was just listening to that song and singing along and he the power of the spirit. My prayer is that you're experiencing the same things in your worship, in your interactions with him.
Because he definitely wants to be heard and he is a promise that God gave us. Now we're going to look at this chapter here in Joel 28. And this is what was quoted in the book of Acts.
When the spirit fell on the disciples and people were confused what was going on and Peter rose up and he says, hey, you're saying these people are drunk, they are not drunk. This is what was promised.
By the prophet Joel that in the last days I'll pour out my spirit on all flesh. So here is Joe 2:28. And it shall come to pass afterwards. Shall come to pass in other words, when the fullness of time has come. That I will pour out my spirit on all flesh.
All flesh, your sons and your daughters shall prophecy. We are also seeing what happens when the spirit of God shows up. Your old man shall dream dreams. Your younger men shall see visions.
And also my main servants and on my main servants. Let's read this whole we are doing Joel 2:28, but let's read this whole entire portion here to 32. And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth. Blood and fire and pillars of smoke.
The sun shall be turned into darkness ad the moon into blood. Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved for in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance.
As the Lord has said among the remnant whom the Lord calls, beautiful passage of scriptures, beautiful. Now you know. When we see creatures like this we have to insert ourselves in these scriptures.
Again, sometimes the tendency or the culture that is seeped through over the years is that we tend to enjoy scriptures or preaching when it's being done and after that we don't tend to look for what the words or the promises that have been.
So the scripture here says that in the last days, when is the last days we talked about this before the last days that were activated by Jesus coming.
The last death could not happen before Jesus had to come in order for the last days to be activated. Why are they called the last days? Because Jesus came to pull up. To serve humanity and to pour out his spirit in preparation for a his weekend so he can hand over the church to the Father.
So the last day started when Jesus ascended. So from that day to now, we are all living in the last days. So the scripture says in those glass days God is going to pour out his spirit on all flesh and this is what's going to happen.
Your sons and your daughter shall prophecy. So which means that you and I, we have to expect our sons and daughters to prophecy because it's a promise that was given to us by God. And his word, if it's yay and Amen we have to look for it.
Because that's what he said. That your sons and your daughters. When this spirit of God is poured out, they have to prophecy. So which means we got to look for this and as parents, we have a role to play in making sure that our children are faithed.
That's why you see the emphasis we have of praying for our children and making sure they are part of this Kingdom because they have a job to do.
Which is tied to God's promises to us. So in other words, if our sons and daughters don't prophecy, that means you and I, we will not be inspired and encouraged.
Because that’s what the scripture says. Because prophecy comes to what, to edify. So which means if we are lacking edification that our sons and daughters are not prophesied.
And if our sons and daughters and was prophesying, then it means we haven't raised them up in the teams of the Lord, so that when they get older they don't depart from them.
So part of our teaching is that they have a responsibility to prophecy. And we got to teach this to them because they have a role to play. Now look at what the enemy has done is that he has allowed us to teach other things.
This is why if you go to Sunday schools and different churches and Youth Services in different churches. We are teaching something else other than this. We do all kinds of activities and kind of events.
But not understanding that those kids that we see in our midst have a job to do because in the last days they have to prophesy sons and daughters. Why? For the edification of the church? Second thing your old man shall dream dreams.
So if you are in this category you have a responsibility. That the spirit of God when is poured out, one of the evidence is that you are going to have dreams. Why do dreams come? To encourage us, to show us things that we ought to pray for.
They invoke your spirit to pray. They push you to intercede because throughout the scripture, when you see somebody who dreams. They inquire of the Lord's king Nebuchadnezzar had a dream, and he inquired of the Lord.
Joseph had dreams inquired of the Lord. So dreams are supposed to push you to inquire the Lord. What are you saying? They bring you into intercession. That's what dreams should be doing. So when the scripture says old men shall we have dreams.
That means we are being pushed into intercession. While we are here, let me say this, if you are a grandmother and a grandfather. Your greatest responsibility is intercession for your grandchildren.
Why? Because God is going to start giving you dreams pertaining to the future. So when you see this, we have to ask for it. One of the things that I do when I put my head to the pillow. Lord, as I laid down and as my human ego is sleeping.
And I'll give you permission to speak to me. Show me some things while my human ego is sleeping. Why should we pray like that? Because this is a promise. So we have responsibility to ask for it.
Lord, you promised that in the last days, are we living in the last days? Yes. You promised that in these last days when I put my head to the pillow that you're going to give me dreams. Then says your younger man shall see visions.
We have to look for this and we have to ask this and we have to teach it to all younger men. We have to ask for this, Lord. This is what you said in your word and starting from the book of Acts, the activation of this scripture began.
Starting in the book of Acts. Peter told us this is what the Lord said and look at what transpired in the book of Acts. The Holy Spirit was poured out and different ones started having dreams.
Lord telling them this is what he has this is what's coming, get ready. We have to ask for these things because they were promised to us and the Lord hasn't changed his mind yet. Neither is he going to change it later. His word is yay and Amen.
He promised us in the book of Joel that in the last days this is what has to take place. We have to look for it. If we don't expect it, if we don't look for it, it could possibly happen and we will not be aware of it.
If you are not expecting anything. Great things could happen and you could miss it. If you are not expecting God to give you dreams you could dream and totally forget about it. I'll tell you a quick story then we pray.
A few years ago I think it should be 2017. I was sleeping in Boston. And right in the middle of that night I had a dream of this song. And I was singing it literally, singing it aloud while I was sleeping.
Beautiful song upon the names of God. And the Holy Spirit while I'm sleeping says get up and write this song. I heard him and I was like this is too good for me to forget. Get up and telling I was singing this song literally singing it aloud in my sleep.
And the Holy Spirit says get up and write this song about the names of God. And as long as I remember it, it's still good. Because I remember, I remember waking up a little bit like Yeah, you know what?
I should write it, but then I was like, man, I gotta walk all this way down the hallway to the office and get a piece of paper and write this. I won't forget it and I went back to sleep. When I woke up the following day, my mind was blank.
You hear me? Blank, blank, blank. I know I dreamed of a beautiful song. Could not remember it to save my life. And that song haunted me for two years. Tried by all means to figure it out. I heard all the names of God on a piece of paper.
So I would just try to recall it, could not. It was painful because I knew I was worshiping in my spirit in this song, that was so remarkable and I could not remember it for two years. It was torture. I wish I had this knowledge. I wish I paid attention to this.
Because then I would have said no, I gotta get up and write this because this is so important because it was promised. Thank God that two years later, while I was sitting there in the evening.
And I was writing something and there was some music that was playing on TV. I wasn't even paying attention to it. And in the midst of my writing I heard it. The joy that came over me was unbelievable.
The joy of recalling that song was unbelievable. And I wrote it, penned it down. And when I went into the bedroom where April was sitting on the bed and I was like honey that song came back to me. And she says, let me hear it and when I sang it.
When I sang it that evening in that bedroom, the spirit of the Lord fell. And it was like, Oh my God. And I remember the first thing that came out of the mouth was, Oh my God, this is fire of the Holy Ghost.
Why am I saying this story? It is because there's a reason why God promises us some things, because he is not promising us some things because he has nothing better to do. He’s promising us some things because they are pertinent to our survival in the last days.
So all these things that he is giving us to us and is telling us that in the last days ABCD has to take place. It has to do with our survival and our enjoying our interaction with him as we live out these last days.
So that they will not be difficult or challenging for us, for you and I, because the spirit of the Lord that is poured out, this is what it will do. It will edify you and I so that as we go and journey along in these last days.
Our lives in the Lord are made much easy. Wouldn't be amazing in your difficulty times that God gives you a dream that everything is going to be ok.
Wouldn't be amazing as we pray for our children, grandchildren and those who are struggling that the Lord comes and give you a dream and shows you the future of your grandchild standing on a pulpit preaching, wouldn't that edify your soul?
That's why the Lord gives us these things. He's not just writing these scriptures because there's nothing better to do. He's writing these scriptures so that you and I get to enjoy the benefits of this salvation.
So our prayers should be Lord as you promised in the book of Joel that in the last days you will pour out your spirit on all flesh, we ask that you pour out your spirit on us. As you promised in the word that young men our children will have dreams and our daughters would dream so they can prophecy.
We pray, Lord, and we pray Lord, and activate this promise on their lives. That may, they have dreams that would edify us in our journey. I pray, Lord, that is us, old man, we pray for dreams.
That settles our future. That comfort our souls as we think about our grandchildren. Our nieces and nephews, we pray for dreams that come for us of knowing Lord that your hand is upon us, in everything that we are doing and everything our children will do. As your servants of this Kingdom made servants and men servants.
We pray, Lord, that we will be comforted as you pour out your spirit on us. So, Father, we pray for dreams not generic dreams. We're praying for specific dreams that edify. I pray that you give us prophetic words that edify.
That will make our lives less challenging in these last days. These are your promises to us and we received them and we look and search for them. Because we know your word is yay and Amen.
You have proven and shown us through the disciples and the acts of the Apostles. What it looks like to receive prophetic words and to walk in them, and to have dreams. Peter had dreams.
Simon Turner had dreams. Paul had dreams. Men of God that laid their hands on Paul had dreams that he was sending Paul to them.
I pray that it shall be so you have shown us the precedence of what's to take place and further in great anticipation, we open our eyes, our minds, our souls to receive of your spirit as you have promised.
We thank you for the many promises that you have for us. We bless you and we honor you. As we go out through this day. Bless our goings and bless our comings.
Enlighten us, reveal yourself so strong. Open our eyes and open our ears. Pour out your spirit on all flesh. Pour it out Lord because we are desperate for you and we need you. We know we have the antidote.
But we know, Lord, we can't do it with our own strength. We need the power of the Holy Spirit so lead us Lord into triumph and procession. We'll look to you and we thank you for all that you are going to do in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen.
This is just coming into my spirit. You know what we should do? We should study the promises of God in the last days. Because we need to work in these things. We need to work in these things.
There are promises. There are instructions. This is our manual to survive the challenging times of the last days. So search for it, search for dreams. Speak to the Lord before you go to bed. I give you permission to speak to me now in dreams.
Then practice this in our children so they can prophecy. And now, as I'm speaking to you, there's some things that now that's coming to me. Our daughter Ava she is so incredible.
God always endows with that, she always comes dad. I had a dream about the future. I had a dream about David. I had a dream about this. I dream about this and she can't wait to go to sleep so she can dream about what's coming.
And you know you hear about it so often that you just like yeah, here goes Ava. But again, the Lord is speaking to me right now that sometimes we dismiss these things because we are not keeping an awareness to what the Lord said in the scriptures about the last days.
So let's pay close attention. May the Lord bless you as you go up as you go out in this day. May he lead you not into temptation, deliver you from the evil one. And enjoy what he has in store for you today. May Lord bless you and we will see you tomorrow morning.
