The Qualities Of God As Revealed In His Names

"Exodus 3:13-55 - Yahweh, LORD, I Am Who I AM"

Good morning, good morning, everybody. This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law. We are crucified with Christ nevertheless, we live not yet us, but Christ lives by faith and as his word dwells in us richly.

We are able to say we are blessed, we are healed, we are set free sickness will not dwell in us. The number of our days you will fulfill. Sin will not dominate us because the seed of God's word lives in us.

We believe that Jesus came and died and hung on the cross, so that we now have this abundant life and the victory that he provides. No weapon formed against us shall prosper. We are more than conquerors because of his great love.

Greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world. And we can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us as the redeemed of the Lord, we say so. Brothers and sisters, I hope you had a wonderful evening and a wonderful night.

You slept and well rested and ready to go another day. Today we are looking at the name Yahweh, YAHWEH. Brothers and sisters this is the name, the name Yahweh you know, if you, if you look throughout Scripture.

God is called or referred to by almost 1000 different names, almost 1000. Because he is too big and too grand to be defined by one because his qualities, cannot be matched. He is everything not be part.

We always remember this he's not part Elohim he’s not part El Shaddai, he’s not part Jehovah Shammah. He is all Jehovah Shammah, all Jehovah Rapha. So he is everything to totality.

So this name Yahweh is the name God gives himself and he wants to be remembered by it throughout all human generations, Yahweh. Now. In the scriptures, Yahweh appears 6800  times. And in the Old Testament alone 6800 times, the name Yahweh appears.

It appears in every book in the Bible, except Esther, Ecclesiastes and the song of songs. As the sacred personal name of Israel, so Yahweh is a sacred is so sacred Yahweh, that in the Old Testament, it was only reserved to high priests.

And. It was something to be revered. You couldn't just say it because of what it meant. So it was reserved for high priests to speak or to use it loudly. And that shows you how incredibly powerful and sacred this name is.

And it is only then after the destruction of the temple in AD 70. The name, the Israelites chose not to pronounce it and started using Adonai or El, right and the substitution was because they the reverence they had for God.

It cannot diminish, so they chose not to use Yahweh nd go to other line because they felt they could not use it because they have reverence because of what was going on around the had changed.

So they started using Yahweh, sorry, Adonai. The name Yahweh is the name most closely linked to God's redeeming acts in the history of humanity, the Yahweh, every other name has to do with you know things that are going on and his response to those things.

So Jehovah, Rapha, right is a response to sickness. So when you see all these other names there in response to something or our relationship with him.

We go to Yahweh, he God calls him that himself. He gives his name to us and say this is what I want to be known for throughout human history. That’ Exodus 3.

So, the first appearance of this name, God visits Moses through a burning Bush and gives them the mandate to go rescue the children of Israelite out of Egypt.

Which is a metaphoric example of Jesus coming to rescue humanity out of this diabolic world. So Moses is concerned about going to Egypt because he knows the history. He grew up in Egypt and he did something over there.

So he asked God, if I when I come to people of Israel what am I going to say to them? This is this is Exodus 3. And God says, go tell them the God of your Father has sent me to you.

And they ask me, what is his name? What shall I say to them? God say to Moses? I am who I am and he said say this to the people of Israel. I am has sent me to you. God also said to Moses say this to the people.

Visit the Lord God of your fathers. The God of Abraham and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob has sent me to you. This is my name forever and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations, Yahweh.

Throughout all generation, Yahweh God gave himself this name so that throughout history. He wants all human beings to remember him by this name. Why? Because it is a name associated with the redeeming qualities of God.

In other words, he is telling us that this is what I do redeeming qualities. Every other name it has to do with the relationship that we have with you now. So brothers and sisters, when you are reading the Bible.

I want you to pay attention to this. When you see the name Lord from all the English translations now, before I go this route, let me say this. The translation the English translations did not translate this name.

The English language does not have any exact translation of the word Yahweh, it doesn't. So when you are reading the Old Testament, every time that you see Lord and all letters in capital letters. It’s in reference to Yahweh.

And then the times that you see Lord L capitalized, then ord not capitalized. That's El or Adonai, Elohim or Adonai. Interestingly enough, right these two replacement names are used for other things, not just God.

Whereas Yahweh is reserved exclusively for the name of God. El Elyon, Elohim, El Shaddai , right. So when you see my Lord with capital letter and all the other leaders are not capitalized then that's in reference to Adonai or El, which is Elohim.

When you see capitalized LORD, all letters capitalize that's Yahweh. That this is in reference to God's redeeming qualities. So pay attention to that when we are reading scriptures because it is, it changes the dynamics of what you are reading.

When you see that. Why does this matter? It matters because 1, God wants that's what he wants us to refer to him through out generations. That's what the Father wants, to call him Yahweh and to remember him.

In other words, when we're, you know, quiet time, we remember God. Always know that he desires to be remembered as Yahweh. In other words, all the redeeming qualities. And why does it matter? Because names in the scriptures are important.

They define the characteristics of a team. Names are important. That's why in the Jewish history it would take eight days after a child is birth for parents to really think about what they want to name the child.

Because when you name a thing, it becomes. That's why it's important. 2, is that Yahweh is the self existing eternal God. In other words, God has no need of us. It can seem very offensive.

But in other words, it's recognized that he is self existing. His relationship with us is his choice and he enjoys it. That's why it is a privileged to be trusted through his presence or through his desire and will.

That's why when you read the Scripture in addition it says we existed at his pleasure. Existed upon his pleasure.

So self existing, Yahweh so one of the reasons third reason why this matters is because this name is only used in the Bible when the author is talking about God's personal relationship with people.

When God is talking about his personal relationship with people. The name Yahweh is invoked.

So if you want to understand God's relationship with people, when you see the capitalized Lord in the scripture, pay attention to it because usually it cannot or reveals the relationship that God has with humanity and his redeeming qualities pertaining to us.

So pay attention to that. It also matters because Yahweh is with us, self existing, everywhere. In other words, it's comforting to know that Yahweh is everywhere. He’s not bound by geography and time. So there is no place you can go where he is not.

He is God by himself and he is with us. That's why he says to Moses go tell them the I am, I say, that's why you can see in Scripture over and over you start seeing this. I will never leave you nor forsake you.

Because it's the redeeming qualities that once I've redeemed you I will make sure that you are always with me. That's why it matters when you see that Yahweh. Yahweh also means he is unchanged.

Why it matters is that he you can see is unchanging today, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow and forever is the same. I want you to think about this in our world right? There is nothing permanent.

Nothing, everything will change. Our world is constantly shifting. Everything is so subjective that. What used to be is no longer but God is the only one he's never, ever going to change. He is who he was 14 centuries ago and he will be centuries to come.

From the beginning of time to the end. There is no alteration in him. Just God by himself that's Yahweh. Lastly, is that the name Yahweh is wholly, WHOLLY other than all the other names.

It is the name and that name holds together his covenant with humanity. So in other words, guys, every time you see a promise of God in the scripture. It falls under the category of this name, Yahweh.

Every time you see, because his promises right from beginning to the end are always going to be the same for people who read the scriptures when we are gone, these promising stands, for people who wrote scriptures back then, his promises still stand.

So when you think about the never changing God. Every time that you see the promises of God in scriptures, what you are looking at is the characteristics of God. Where he is Yahweh and never changing. So promises and Yahweh go together.

My prayer is that as we read scriptures now as we come up as we go across these names, we come across especially this one. We come across this one. Let's pause and get a greater understanding because every time we see that Yahweh it is to do with us.

His relationship with you and I. Every time we see it, so stop, pay attention, gather the principle, the principle behind it and let's run with it because in it in the name Yahweh.

When you think about the seriousness until you are given what the mysteries of the Kingdom in it. It's the mysteries of who God is. The things that we can't comprehend or ever understand about who God is.

It's embedded in Yahweh. Hence, he says, go tell my people I am the I am sent me, that's the English translation I am. I am who I say I am. You come to find me, I am. My prayer is that as we come across these names, the scriptures in our reading in our fellowship to pause.

Because we know it invokes God's characteristics with us, but also it is the name that God wants all of us to refer to him. From the start of Exodus all the way, to every generation that will ever exist.

He wants to be known by the name Yahweh, Amen. Let us pray. Dear Heavenly Father, the great Redeemer. We are humbled by the qualities of your character as you choose to relate with us.

We are humbled how you have made it easy for us to call on you by giving us names, that relates to our needs as we relate to you. So that when we call you, through these names, your qualities are involved. Just to make our lives easy in this treacherous terrain.

Lord, we thank you for who you are. We thank you for the everlasting love that you have shown us. We thank you, Lord that you see us and you accommodate us in all your plans and you make yourself known, you reveal yourself to us day in, day out.

Through things that were created or through the Holy Spirit, confirming some things in us. So that in our efforts, we are never found without guidance. Such a loving, wonderful Father.

We bless your holy name. We bless you, Yahweh, the ever existing God you stand alone in the Congregation of the Mighty. The author and perfector of our faith, the ruler of it all uncompromised, self existing. It's humbling to know and through all this grinder and power.

You still consider us in our frailties, in our weaknesses, in our sinful nature that you would send your son to die so that we can enjoy the qualities of who you are. Such a wonderful Father.

So today Lord in our hearts, we just want to bless you. We just want to honor you. We just want to thank you. We are humbled that this awesome wonderful being, consider us as your children and you've given us a place in your Kingdom.

So we can enjoy the qualities and the characters of who you are. May you continue to help us in our efforts to serve you to serve one another in the midst of this journey. We will make mistakes.

We will speak out of them. We will forget some things but it's so comforting to know that the ever changing God promises that you will make all things new. That all things will work together for people who were called according to your name.

We are so unbelievably overwhelmed by who you are. We bless you, Heavenly Father, we love on you, we adore you. We are grateful. We are forever grateful that you never left us in this wilderness to wander by ourselves without aid guidance but you have made everything possible.

Through your names we can invoke any character just to meet our needs. When we are sick, we call each Jehovah Rapha. When we desire your presence we call you Jehovah Shammah.

You are Yahweh the never change in God. So, Father, we want to continue to yield to you. Because we know you know, all things you see all things and you desire for us to remember you in this manner, through your redeeming qualities.

So thank you for directing us. We pray for every family represented here that may blessings of the Lord flow to them. We pray for this nation. May you heal it from past mistakes and challenges that we are facing.

We pray for our world and the conflict that's going on in the Middle East. You know it, you see it send angels to protect those who were caught up. Civilians that can’t defend themselves. Find themselves in the middle of this chaos of leaders mistakes.

They become casualties because of leaders egos, they become casualties. So I pray, Lord, that in the midst of all this may human life be preserved in order for an opportunity of salvation to remain.

Soften these leaders hearts. Just for the preservation of human souls that might die in the midst of this without knowing you. Your desire, Lord, is that every human being comes to the knowledge of the Father and to be saved. And how can we be saved if we are dead in conflict.

So Father, I pray that may every being caught up in this, their soul preserved. We ask for calmness in our leaders and above all else we know it's our responsibility because we are called by your name to humble ourselves, to pray, to seek your faith and to turn from our wicked ways.

So that you can hear from heaven and heal our lands. Pray for every believer across this world to carry that responsibility with grace and great understanding that will always be the antidote to the challenges of our human frailties. We thank you God.

Now as we go through this day, continue to bless us. Lead us not into temptation, continue to deliver us from the evil one for thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever, Amen.

Brothers and sisters enjoy the name of Yahweh when you come across it in the scriptures, may the Lord bless you, have an awesome day. Stay hydrated in this sun and may God give you wisdom in everything that you are doing in Jesus name, Amen.
