The Qualities Of God As Revealed In His Names

"El SHADDAI - God Almighty" (Continued)

Good morning, good morning, everybody. This is the day the Lord has made, and we are rejoicing in it.

We are so glad in it and Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law. We are crucified with him. Nevertheless, we leave not yet us, but Christ lives by faith in us.

His word is dwelling in us richly, and we can stand and say we are blessed, we are healed, we are set free. Sickness cannot dwell in us. The number of our days is going to fulfill. Sin will not dominate us. We refuse for sin to dominate us.

That's because the seed of God's word lives in us and we have access to his throne and his divine power and his divine names, and we can stand and say we are blessed more than ever, and we are more than conquerors because of his great love.

Greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world. And we can do all things through Christ, who will redeem this as the Bible says so, so we stand in agreement with it in Jesus name, Amen.

Brothers and sisters, we going to go again today and look at the name El Shaddai, and as I was just thinking earlier on today. All God's names and his qualities, are equally and incredibly important.

But this name, here El Shaddai I think in terms of our existence. We are going to relate more on this name because of what it entails and the meaning behind it, and the qualities of God behind it.

So almighty God. So that's the all-encompassing, almighty. So that means all the other names are kind of included in almighty. So as I was looking at this name here, I want us today to focus on Psalms 91, because this is one of the most prominent passage of scriptures in the Bible that kind of solidify the definition of El Shaddai.

So in order to do that, we're going to kind of go all over the place, but come back to Almighty God. So the Psalms were written by King David. That's who wrote the Psalms and a few different authors in there, but mostly King David wrote it.

And why did he write it? He wrote the Book of Psalms because of what he was dealing with in his entire life. From dealing with his family, being forgotten and also now dealing with King Saul and then also he became the king.

So you see that there's a pattern in David's life that has to do with challenges and overcoming them. They are over and over again since he was young, until he is a grown man.

The pattern that you can paint in David's life is that he's a man who is constantly in battle. So when God then says this is a man of my heart, this is a man out of my heart. He’s essentially saying that there is something about David and his warring spirit that God identifies with.

That he says this is a man up to my own heart that there is qualities in David and how he does what he does, that I can identify with in terms of worrying. So you can see David is just a warrior.

Since he was a little boy from Father forgetting him while he is out there in the wilderness. He fought bears and lions. He engaged in battles that were beyond his stature and magnitude and he had to deal with the belligerent king who sought to kill him.

Who was possessed with so many devils and demons that David himself was kind of like the person who calms Saul down through his songs and singing and praising God. So God is identifying with David or David rather his qualities that God identifies as who he is.

That's why he said he's a man after my own heart. In other words, I can see I can see my heart in David and thus the fighting the warring the hate of evil that he was against it. So Psalms 91, it connotes that name El Shaddai.

Now, in order for us to really can't understand here. Let's start from some Psalms 1, because it kind of sets the entire book of Psalms. So this is what Psalms 1 says. Blessed are those who do not walk or stand with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers.

But who delight in the law of the Lord and meditate on his law day and night. People like that, they are like a tree planted by the streams of water, which yields fruit In season, whose leaves do not wither, whatever they do, they prosper.

Not so the wicked they are like chaff that the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will be destroyed.

We can see, right as we go what’s being introduced here by a person who delights in the Lord and who spends these days meditating on this law, that person is like a tree that is planted on the streams of the river. It never withers, and in season it always produces fruit.

But that same individual the Lord will watch over the way of the rights in other ways God will watch over your way. The way that you are walking the road that you are on, he says God will watch over that road to make sure that nothing gets on that road that can destabilize you.

So this is the opening of the Book of Psalms. It's setting up for what's coming. It's setting up this is kind of like the intro the preface of the book to tell us what's coming in this book, right. I like I like King James. King James kind of has some incredible words.

It says bless the men that does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, counsel of the ungodly. Now, what does this have to do with El Shaddai? Again, we are setting up for what we need, where we need to go.

Now yesterday we said El Shaddai, El means God in the Hebrew language, El means God. Shadai means almighty God. It can be translated and said all sufficient. Almighty God, al sufficient right.

First mention of El Shaddai in Genesis 17 when God reveals himself to Abraham. Then in Psalms 91 we see the prominence of the word, El Shaddai on display, so let's go to Psalms 91. We all know this. He says he that dwells.

Again, background information is on in Psalms 1 right? So here we go, he that dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of almighty, under the shadow of El Shaddai. So a person who dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of El Shaddai.

So a person who is constantly seeking God. You are always going to be found in the shadow of El Shaddai. So in other words, all sufficient God will always be in your midst. If you dwell in the secret place of the Most High.

Then it goes on to say this is David writing says I will say of the Lord. He is my refuge and my fortress. We're getting the crooks, in other words, we're getting a full definition of the word El Shaddai out of this Psalm.

Because David is writing from that position. And why is it when we get to Psalm 91, right, this man has already by now experienced so many things and he has seen so much and out of his experience, he now has information and knowledge and wisdom of the totality of who God is in his life.

He has seen so much that the word El Shaddai is now being reviewed tremendously in his life that now he is writing about it. So Psalms 91 is decorating the name El Shaddai in totality is giving it all to us. So we shall proceed.

Thou say of the Lord, he is my refuge and my fortress. My God in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the Fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shall thy thrust.

His truth shall be my shield and buckler thou shall not be afraid for the terror by night, nor for the arrow that flies by day. Nor for the person that walks in darkness, nor the destruction that wasted at noon day. 1000 shall on thy side and 10,000 at that right hand.

But it shall not come near thee, only with thine eyes shall thy behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou has made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most high my habitation. Oh my God.

They shall no evil before thee, neither shall any plague come near thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear their up in their hands, lest thou dash their foot against the stone.

Thou shalt tread upon the lion and the adder, the young lion and the dragon, shalt thou trample under their feet, because he has set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him. I will set him on high because he has known my name.

He shall call upon me and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him with long life. With long life, will I satisfy him and show him my salvation, total definition of the name El Shaddai.

Because David, King David is writing from experiences where he has encountered the name El Shaddai with all sufficient all sufficient. So when you read this Psalms right, it's pretty much something on every area of David's life.

Every single area. He talks about the lion and that he did that. He thought that and the bear. He fought that. He talks about being under the shadow of his protection. He dealt with it.

So the all sufficient, the all sufficient, the all inclusive God, everything that God is David is saying I have experienced it. That's why, he says a person is telling you and I that a person who finds himself under the shadow of the Almighty, under the shadow of El Shaddai.

You will never lack for anything. Because the all sufficient God will be your provider in every circumstance. This is why you see David is mentioned pretty much every circumstance.

Every circumstance from the night, the day. Truth, destruction, pestilence then he goes on to talk about people falling on their side because God is fighting for him. Well, he has seen this. He's not just saying it because it sounds good.

He's saying it because he has experienced this. So he is seeing the all sufficient God at work in every area of his life, so he is chronicling it from that position where the name El Shaddai.

The name El Shaddai, almighty God. I've seen that he is everything in my life and I've experienced it and I'm writing about it. That's incredible in its own right to see the name, El Shaddai in totality through these Psalms.

So some believe Psalms 91 was written, this is false Babylon. So some believe that this was written to encourage as much as David was encouraging himself, but he is writing to a nation that has already dealt with so much distress.

So in his encouragement, he now goes on to detail his experiences in encountering the El Shaddai and is giving it to the nation and also encouraging himself. That I have seen the all sufficient God in every situation and I'll tell you this, if you dwell in the shadow of the Almighty you never lag for anything.

Because this all sufficient God will be there for you in every situation. Again, when you study Psalms 1 explains to you the heart in which David is writing.

Because again, you can see Psalms 91 in right there in in chapter one of the Book of Psalms. Bless that those who do not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way of the sinners, or sit in the company of mockers.

But who delight, who delight in the Lord and meditate on his Lord that's being under the shadow of the Almighty. Says the person who lives under the shadow. What is the shadow? Delighting in the law of the Lord and meditating on his law day and night, that's living under the shadow.

If that person is like a tree planted on the streams of water, you'll never lack for anything, and in other words, if you dwell under the all sufficient God, there is absolutely nothing you ever like for because he is all sufficient, El Shaddai.

That's who God is and David is chronicling through Psalms 91, the all sufficient God. And the details from all of his life experiences. By this time, David is a grown man but out of it he chronicles and put it in words to define the all sufficiency of God.

And this is one of the greatest Psalms to ever be written. And one of the most courted Psalms, apart from Psalms 23, Psalms 91, is one of the most because it's encompassing the all sufficient of God, everything that he is El Shaddai.

Everything that God is all the other names, right. All the other names that we'll study about God. They are in all mighty God.

Oh that's why it's like Almighty God is like the all sufficient. So all the other names that we are going to study are encompassed in the Almighty in El Shaddai,  all sufficient. So when we say he is Jehovah, Sharma is included in El Shaddai all sufficient.

When you say Jehovah Rapha is also included in there. So that's why when you see these Psalms is total epitome and definition of the word of the name, El Shaddai the all sufficient God, he that dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the almighty.

We all have seen shadows before and you know during the summer heat you can stand under the shadow of a tree and feel cool from the heat of the day. And as the shadow moves, you can continue moving with it.

So when he says a person was dwelling in the shadow, that means you are protected from the elements that could possibly harm you. And then gave the list the elements of what could possibly harm you, and it includes everything that could possibly derail every single person from day to night, evening to noonday.

He listed all then he also lists what happens to people who don't dwell under the shadow of the Almighty. Thousands shall fall on thy side, 10,000 at thy right hand but it will not come near thee, unbelievable Psalms.

I was looking at Psalms 91 and I saw it in a different way today. Because of the name, El Shaddai. Angels are included there in verse 11 there. So he shall give his angels.

So we are being told that dwelling in in this all sufficiency of God. Who cause him to send angels to your aid. El Shaddai, all sufficient, he can call upon angels if need be. Brothers and sisters, I pray that you never look at Psalms 91 the same way again.

Because I'm surely not going to look at it the same way again, because of the word El Shaddai that's inserted right there at the beginning, Almighty God. Let us pray. Father will bless your name.

We are incredibly blessed because of your name El Shaddai. To have this knowing that there is absolutely nothing we can face on this earth that we will not be protected from as long as we dwell under the shadow of the Almighty.

We thank you, Lord for having our backs even in the midst of challenges and troubles, we know you being El Shaddai does not exonerate us from the challenges of this world. That we are fully confident in the fact that you have our back.

No matter what, we'll go through as long as we remain in the shadow of the Almighty that you Lord, you are forever, forever in our corner. So we bless your holy name. We bless you, El Shaddai, all sufficient, almighty.

You are everything to us. There is nothing we'll ever need that we cannot find in you. Blessed are those who dwell in the secret place. So farther in our efforts, in all that we do, our desire is to continuously be found under this shadow.

So that the all sufficient God will forever be present in everything that we do. We can testify in our own lives that we have seen, you show up time and time and time again. We have seen you do incredible, phenomenal things, even sometimes when it looks bleak and we don't know which way to go.

We have seen you show up being El Shaddai all sufficient. So we bless you and we acknowledge and honor you that you are our God and we are your children and as long as we find ourselves in new shadow, we have absolutely nothing to fear.

So, Father in our efforts, may you continue to bless us in our worship, in our praying time, in our study time. We are simply desiring to be found under the shadow. So, Lord, as we go into this weekend, as we continue with this life, as we continue to live this life you have given us.

Our goal and our desire as your children is to be forever found in the shadow to delight ourselves in the law, to delight ourselves in worshipping and in praying, to delight ourselves in the study of scripture, in understanding of your spirit and knowledge and wisdom, to delight ourselves in the spirit.

So we know this life that we live is joy, peace and righteousness in the Holy Ghost. So our goal, Lord, is to find ourselves under the shadow, for we know under the shadow who continuously experienced the all sufficient God.

We bless you and honor you and we thank you for this day that you have made. We are rejoicing in it. We are going to walk in righteousness not because we are strong, but because we know Christ is in us our hope of glory.

Now, bless us as we go through this day. Continue to reveal yourself to us and I pray, Lord, that may we desire more of you in everything that we do. And I pray Lord for strength and wisdom, protection and guidance and love and peace and joy and hunger for you to remain part of our daily lives.

Anoint us for the work ahead, open our eyes. Give us insights to what's coming so we can position ourselves well. Send the angels where we need them and send the help that we need and we are forever grateful for El Shaddai.

Bless us, mightly now lead us not into temptation, but continue to lead us into the path of righteousness. For thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever, Amen.

Brothers and sisters, I encourage you today because I'm going to be looking at this today again. Look at Psalms 91 from the El Shaddai standpoint and to what David had experienced and what he was talking about. But again, if you have read the Psalms and what this man has written about over and over again.

You will see El Shaddai in the midst of King David's life. And for God to say this is a man after my own heart. And then the man is telling us how he became a man after God's own heart because he understood one thing.

He that dwells in the secret place of the most high. Says the person who delights in the Lord day and night and meditate on these scriptures. That's why God said to David, this is the man after my own heart because he mastered to delight himself in the Lord day and night, and he dwelled under the shadow of the Almighty.

So can you imagine? I'm sorry, I'm taking a little bit longer with this, with these goodbyes, but I want you to imagine this, if you are God and you are walking every single day and every time you turn around. In your shadow there is David.

You sprint, you turn around in your shadow there is David. Surely God has to say this is the man after my own heart. So we see now why David will be so prominent as an example of how we can relate to the name, El Shaddai. May the Lord bless you and your families have an awesome day, brothers and sisters, Amen.
