"Waiting On The Holy Spirit - Getting Our Hearts Ready for Pentecost"
"Acts 1:15-26 A Replacement For Judas Is Chosen"
Good morning, good morning, everybody. I hope you had a wonderful weekend and ready for another week. Let us pray. This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, and we are crucified with Christ.
Nevertheless, we live not yet us, but Christ lives by faith in us, his word was in us richly and we are able to say we are blessed, we are healed, we are set free. Sickness cannot dwell in us. The number of our days he will fulfill.
Sin cannot dominate us because the seed of God's word lives in us, we believe that Jesus came and died on the cross and we now have this abundant life and the victory that he provided. No weapon formed against us shall prosper.
We are more than conquerors because of his great love. Greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world. And we can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us as the redeemed of the Lord.
We stand on Christ the solid rock knowing that all we ever wanted in all ever ask that God is able to provide, so Father, as we look to the hills where our help comes from.
There’s genuine confidence knowing that you're such a good Father. That is your love for us is far deeper than we can ever understand or imagine.
So as we gather on this prayer call to fellowship with one anotherm to be part of this massive and vast Kingdom. We thank you for all that you have enabled us to enjoy, to do and all the things that we're still going to do.
So, Father, as we lift our hearts and our hands towards heaven. It's our belief that you've already gone ahead of us. So Lord continued to prepare us for what she desires to do and all the glory will belong back to you.
So, Father, as we look into this week we'll look with confidence knowing that you're sovereign and that you are with us. We bless you and honor you in Jesus name, Amen. Brothers and sisters, we are in Acts.
This is the week where we preparing for Pentecost Sunday. And I'm excited To see what the Lord would do And I want to prepare our hearts. So this week, let's pray a lot, stay in an attitude of prayer.
Be expected because it's all about faith. It's all comes down to faith. What do we believe in and what are we believe in God for? So Acts1:15 In those days Peter stood up among the believers.
A group numbering about 120 and he said, brothers and sisters the scripture had to be fulfilled in which the Holy Spirit spoke long ago through David concerning Judas. Who served as a guide for those who arrested Jesus.
He was one of our number and shared in our ministry. The payment he received for his wickedness, Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out.
Everyone in Jerusalem heard about this, so they called the field in the language Akeldama. That is full of blood. For Saint Peter, it is written in the book of sums. May his place be deserted. Let there be no one to dwell in it and may another take his place for leadership.
Therefore it is necessary to choose one of the men we have been with us the whole time. The Lord Jesus was living amongst us, beginning from John baptism to the time when Jesus has taken up from us. So one of these must become a witness with us of his resurrection.
So they nominated two men, Joseph called Basbas, also known as Justice in Matthias. Then they prayed. Lord, you know everyone's heart. Show us which of these two you have chosen to take over the apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go with where he belongs.
Then they cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias, who was then added to the eleven apostles. We are seeing and we are going to see this in the book of Acts. Because as you can. Imagine. This is the foundation of the church. This is how this church that we are part of that is 2000 years old once started.
Men and women devoting their time in asking the Lord what to do. Now you and I, we are so privileged in that we have history, to look back on from scriptures and to how things have been done by others, we have references.
We have reference points but these men are doing all this without the knowledge of what needs to take place. This has never been done. This is new, choosing leaders and looking to God and praying and casting these, they have never experienced.
This is their first and we are seeing how the church started. How leaders will picked and it is upon us too to follow in their footsteps. Again, we have a reference point, they didn't have a reference point.
They leaned entirely on God and the spirit of God, for every step they took and everything they did. Because they had no idea how to do anything except other than to ask God. This is why I always say the opposite of fate is not fear.
Most times it's too much information. When you know too much and since we have the privilege of knowing the Scriptures and have reference points and history on our side. It’s supposed to make our lives easy.
But sometimes it makes our lives complex because we don't lean to God enough because we have too much information. They lean to God for everything. They lean to the Holy Spirit for everything because they have no idea what needed to take place.
They had to rely solely on the Holy Spirit and God. That should be the case. That should be the case for all of us, in everything that we do. To lean on God, to lean on the aid of the Holy Spiri because it was given to us.
If you missed Bible study yesterday, please go on our website www.prayerworks.us and listen to yesterday's study. Because it shows us yesterday we looked at how incredibly important the Holy Spirit is.
That he knows all things, all things, not some things, everything that is there to know. He knows it. So it's incumbent upon us to lean on the one that knows all things.
That knows the way that knows what needs to be done, that knows who needs to be there, that knows who need it, doesn't need to be there. He knows all that. So as believers, we want to get into the habit of leaning entirely on the Holy Spirit.
Even on things that we think we know. Even if we think we have we have it together. We still need to practice and to exercise what the disciples were doing in the book of Acts. They laid the foundation on what we are standing on right now, they laid the foundation on how to do things in the church.
It's amazing sometimes when I just think about where we are in human history that this generation, our generation somehow because of a lot of information we presume ourselves very intelligent and smart.
Than all of human history that has ever existed. We have a lot of information and it's also amazing that with too much information we have created a lot of problems.
They didn't have a lot of information and they leaned and trusted the wisdom of God. Our generation leans and trusts on the wisdom of the information. So as believers let's lean on God.
Even for things that we think we have knowledge of, even when we have enough information to make the right decision. It's important to lean on the Holy Spirit because he knows what needs to be done, how it needs to be done, and who needs to do it.
So let's get in the habit of. Let's develop a culture where we lean on God. Even simple things or big things, whatever things that we are looking at to lean on God. And again from last night teaching.
The scriptures his Jesus said to the disciples. When the whole story comes, you have an advantage. So let's keep our advantage. Don't lose your advantage if you know you have an advantage, you use it right.
And Jesus said to us, I'll give you the Holy Spirit and you will have an advantage. Because he's going to search all things and give you information ahead of time. So let's keep our advantage.
Let's enjoy our advantage, lean on God, lean on God. For everything lean on God. Let us pray.
Heavenly Father, we are grateful, we are grateful for the gift of the Holy Spirit. You've been teaching us on the importance and the role that he plays in the life of a believer.
We don't get saved without him. We are not engrafted into the body of Christ it’s the job and the work of the Holy Spirit. He shows up with gifts to equip to enable us, to edify us in this journey of being Christians.
He let us grow fruit inside of us so others can eat from it through our belief and our leaning on him. The scripture says out of our belly flows, rivers of living waters. Where others can drink from.
So we thank you for this incredible phenomenal gift. May you continue to bless us with all that you have in store for us. Teach us how to constantly lean on the Holy Spirit. To yield to his thoughts, ideas, wisdom, direction, encouragement for we know that he is our advantage.
It is our advantage so Father we desire by all means necessary to not lose our advantage and to use our advantage as we deal with the challenges of 21st century. Help us to develop our culture where we just lean on him in everything that we do.
Even though we might have the necessary information to make the right decision. We don't want to lose the advantage that we have, so help us in our efforts. We know we are limited beings.
Our minds can carry so much but we cannot carry all the information. Yet the desire and the need to lean on the Holy Spirit. So I pray in our efforts in everything that we do. May you continue to educate us in the possible way or in the right way to do things.
So we know our efforts have no meaning if your presence is not here. So this week Lord as we lay the groundwork for Sunday, Pentecost, Sunday. We are kindly asking Lord may you go ahead of us and prepare the way. May the Holy Spirit visit us.
We know we have him in our hearts, but we have visitors so strong. We want to get home and know that surely you were with us. I pray Lord for all the preparation that we have done. The little things, the meetings that God, you have indulged us and assisted us in our ideas and planning.
Now we'll look to you with hope and excitement and joy. Knowing that you are sovereign. We exist at your pleasure, that we are in your hands. You know, all things you see, all things nothing hidden from you. You have a clear view of all of us.
So we pray, Lord, that your guidance has brought us this far. Search our hearts, prepare our minds, prepare our hearts for we desire to commune and to fellowship with you. We bless you. We bless you mightily for this incredible phenomenal gift. Great exchange spirit without measure.
Spirit of wisdom and understanding and knowledge. Spirit of God the dove, rest upon us this week so strong. We bless you for your sovereign authority.
May you continue doing the work in us, to make us the righteousness of Christ for your gifts to be seen and celebrated in us.
So Father God now be with us as we go through our day. Pray for our children as they now run around this summer. May you continue to bless them, enlighten them, open their eyes and may also enjoy the meaning of the Holy Spirit.
We bless you and honor you for all that you are going to do and all that you have done. Bless every family before you. Continue to bless us, continue to work with us as we yield to you. Guide us in all things true today.
Pray for revelation, knowledge and wisdom to rest upon all of us as we do our daily bit. Continue to generate our path, hold our steps, light our way so that we are victorious and so that glory belongs to you.
Now lead us not into temptation, but continue to deliver us from the evil one. For thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever Amen.
Brothers and sisters lean on the Holy Spirit for every decision. He is our advantage. May the Lord bless you. You have an awesome Monday, see you tomorrow.
