The Qualities Of God As Revealed In His Names

"El SHADDAI - God Almighty"

A very good morning to you. A wonderful, wonderful morning. Let us go to the Lord in prayer. Heavenly Father, we bless you. We honor you. We thank you for your grace, for your sufficiency. We thank you for your presence.

We thank you for who you are. We thank you for all that you have done and what you're still going to do. We thank you, Lord, for the breath that we have in our lungs with thinking, Lord, for the ability to see vision for the ability to hear, and the ability to understand.

We thank you, Lord, that you have a divine purpose for all of us. So today we'll look to you as we start this day knowing not that your governing authority is over everything, that we will experience, that we will do and that will attain so Lord as we look at your words.

As we gain more understanding of who you are to us continue to bless us spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically, so that we continue on this journey of faith as we fight the good fight of faith.

So we bless you and honor you in Jesus name, Amen. Well, brothers and sisters today, we're going to look at one of God's names. You know, we are studying names of God as we worship around his name and to gain more understanding of who God is to us.

Today I want us to stretch our minds a little bit when we're done with this. Because I think it's important for us as believers to desire certain things and to want to experience certain things and I think that desire helps us even in our quest to understand who God is.

So today we're going to Genesis 17:1. Remember, before we read this scripture remember what we said yesterday about the Bible?

That it's a self disclosure book. Where God is making himself known to humanity and in making himself known to humanity, he does that through different people and their experiences.

That's why those experiences were captured out of all the other experiences that have might taken place during those years and those times. But God saw fit that these particular experiences be captured because they revealed who God is to us.

So we get these scriptures. So when we see these experiences or when we read about this experience.

We should read them from the perspective that if he can do it for them, God can also do it for us because they I don't think it's there is no use for him to show us what he did and then make it incredibly difficult for us also to attend.

That's why Jesus said greater works will you do than I did because he's making it known to us that experiences that you read about in the Scripture are also possible for you and I. They are not something that we can't attain.

But it's some things, it's all things that we can attain with God. So we're in Genesis 17. And it says when Abraham was 99 years old, Yaweh appeared to him. He said to Abraham this is God speaking to Abraham.

I am El Shaddai live in my presence with integrity, I am El Shaddai live with my presence in integrity. El Shaddai is the name we are looking at which simply means God almighty.

Yesterday we did El Gibbor, which means mighty God. Two separate terms. Mighty God, all mighty God. Mighty God emphasize the strength, right of God, it emphasized his abilities and his authority. And almighty God applies and it reserves to the deity of who God is.

That he is almighty ultimate power, ultimate strength, ultimate ability, authority. It suggests almighty God El Shaddai suggests that God, who is all powerful, sovereign and supreme. That's what we say.

So when God fails to Abraham I am almighty God. It’s essentially telling, it says live in my presence. In other words, Abraham, I want you to leave under the power of who I am. All powerful. I want you to live in the all powerful of who I am.

I am El Shaddai that means all powerful ultimate authority. So this is where I want you to live Abraham. Under the auspices of all of my authority and all of my power ultimate. Mighty God fire. Almighty God, that means nothing should be over you, Abraham.

Because I want you to live under in my power and integrity that the key thing I want us to see here is that God says to Abraham, the scripture says and God appeared to Abraham. God appeared to him and he says I'm going to reveal myself to you.

My name is El Shaddai, I want you to live under the auspices of my ultimate power. So brothers and sisters I want to share a few things with you that transpired to me years ago when I was young.

Maybe around 26, 27, 26 years old yeah, I'm in Zimbabwe just traveled from Germany back to Zimbabwe and I'm having this difficult time with life. Just trying to figure out ok where am I going now? Soccer is coming to an end.

My knees ain't doing anything anymore and what I thought I was going to accomplish and do in Germany, it doesn't seem like it's going that way. So now I am back to square one where I'm trying to figure out where to go and what to do.

The economy in Zimbabwe is horrible. We have lost money and inflation is getting is pretty much eating away everything.

And I have this plan that when summer ends, I'm going to get on the plane, go back to Germany and I'm going to start college and life is going to go that way.

But still I'm struggling at 27 and I'm looking at others who have done in accomplished things. And I'm like, man, it doesn't seem like I have accomplished anything. So I was honestly depressed.

But nonetheless, we have a Bible study group. You know, me and my friends, we're just sitting in my apartment and we're. Studying the scriptures and I hear that in the midst of praying, I hear the Lord says, I want you to separate yourself and go on a walk with me.

I took a 60 mile prayer walk going, which means coming back was going to be another 60 miles. I went to the eastern part of Zimbabwe where there’s mountains. Now I remember on this trip so vividly, guys.

That there was a desire in me as I was taking this journey to be in God's presence. I remember, asking the Lord will you appear to me I need Your appearance. So I can feel like I'm not alone in what I am going through.

That desire pushed me to walk for days without fear, without reservation. Not knowing where I am going. Time froze, I was not aware of what was going on in the country. I had no phone. It was just me and God.

If anything happens to me, nobody will probably know. But the desire that was in my heart. That was pushing me and driving me was this idea that Lord, I need you to appear to me. And I remember looking at this scripture here.

In Genesis, you appeal to Abraham, will you appear to me. Now, the reason I'm bringing this up guys is as I was looking at this yesterday. How I long for God to appear to me right now. I asked myself a question yesterday and this morning.

That was a desire I had back then. How come this desire now in 2025 seemed to be far from my mind. Is it because I've gotten familiar with God? Or is it because we don't think about these things anymore.

So I want us all to kind of ask ourselves the question. Will we desire for God to appear to you. Whether being in a dream or in a vision or in some angelic activity or something because these experiences we read about in the scriptures.

They were not given to us as something that we can't attain or live in. They were given to us as examples and reference point of what God can do. If he can do it for Abraham. He can do it for you.

So I want us in our journey as believers to start hovering desires in us of some of the experiences that we see in the scriptures, cause if he says I am God. I am the same today and I'll be the same tomorrow and I'll be the same forevermore.

Which means that him appearing is part of his that's why he named himself El Shaddai. That I am El Shaddai almighty God. Live in my presence in other words, I will always be appearing because that's who I am.

If we say this person is a creator, that means they are always going to be what a creator. If he says I am, El Shaddai and I appear so you can live in my presence. It doesn't mean he was El Shaddai and is no longer El Shaddai.

He is still El Shaddai. So I want us in our quest and in our journey of faith that we desire some of these qualities and these experiences that we see in the scriptures, because if God says I'm El Shaddai, He’s El Shaddai today.

Tomorrow he was El Shaddai for Abraham. He is El Shaddai for you and I. He will be El Shaddai when we are long gone. So which means that what took place in Abraham's day.

Not only is it a possibility for us, but is still relevant to us because he is the same yesterday and tomorrow. So I want us to desire God's qualities. I want us to experience God's qualities. I want the Lord to appear to me and I want the Lord to appear to you.

Wouldn't it be comforting if you wake up at 3:00 AM and the Lord appears to you on your way to the bathroom. But again, this was given to us. He named himself El Shaddai so that you and I can enjoy the qualities of who he is.

The scripture said, and he appeared to Abraham when he was 99 years old. 99. And he says I am Almighty God. I'm supreme, live in my presence. Live in my presence with integrity live that means daily.

That's all he's telling Abraham when the Lord appeared to him. We have to desire these things. Cause us desiring them God sees God hears, God does. Wouldn't it be incredible if the Lord appears to you and we have to desire it.

That's why it's in the scripture not, for us to read and say wow that was incredible that he appeared to Abraham. But no it was incredible, but it's telling you and it's telling you and I.

This is the Father of our faith. What the Father enjoyed the children also enjoyed. If Abraham is the father of faith. What he enjoyed in faith we also enjoy in faith. I can point out to a few times in my life where the Lord appeared.

But I want his presence even now. I would love for the Lord to appear to me today. Because he says I'm almighty, I'm supreme, almighty. So if he did it then he would do it today. He would do it next year and next week.

So as we read and worship God around these names. I don't want this to be foreign to us, but rather bring us closer and closer to him. Where we can feel his presence and live in his presence, like Abraham lived in his presence.

Where your senses are heightened because you live in his presence with integrity. I wanted to think about these things because this was given to us. God did not name himself El Shaddai just for Abraham, he named himself El Shaddai for all those who believe.

So that we can enjoy his qualities. So let us all desire God appearing before us. It’s to strengthen your faith. It will strengthen your belief. It will give you comfort.

Wouldn't it be a great honor for the Lord to appear for you in your in your worship times. That the Lord appeared to me. Last night I had a dream and the Lord appeared to me. This is not foreign.

Brothers and sisters, it's not foreign. This is part of our faith. It's included in salvation. That we now have this direct access. That's why that veil was torn so that all these names and the qualities of God we get to enjoy.

Before Jesus came, this was exclusive to a few but after he came in, that veil was torn in the temple. It meant that El Shaddai is part of our portion. It's not just for Abraham, but it's all for us to enjoy.

That's why, he says ultimate power, supreme. That's who he is, says live in my presence. That everything that you've seen, I created it live in my presence. My prayer is that this heightens the way we think about God and the possibility that exists and our relationship with him because these are all possibilities.

This should not be foreign. This should not be something that we can't expect. This should be something that we expect daily, that the Lord could appear to me anytime any moment, because of what Jesus did on the cross. So brothers and sisters, I want us to stretch our imaginations, I want us to stretch the way we relate with God.

Based on scriptures, we are not desiring something that's foreign or that's impossible or that was not given to us. We are desiring something God named himself after.

That I am El Shaddai. I want the Lord to appear to thee. I want the Lord to appear to you. You should desire it. You should want, you should need God to appear to you and encourage and inspire you.

Wouldn't be amazing Sarge, wouldn't be amazing Veronica, Calvin that the Lord will appear to you and you say, surely the Lord was with me last night. We have to want it, we have to want it.

Because I remember the times I wanted it so bad, and the Lord did not fail me. I had the privilege of these times where the Lord appeared. It was overwhelming, encouraging, inspiring. Sometimes, just to encourage you, say you are on the right path. Keep walking this way in the midst of that walk I took when I was 26 years old.

God reveals some incredible phenomenal things to me. From gifts and talents that I wasn't sure of. But that night it was special because I wrote some incredible phenomenal things. That encourage me and who I am and who I will be. Comforted me in my darkest times to say I am with you.

At 99 years old God appears to Abraham at 99 I am El Shaddai, walk before me in my presence with integrity. That's the only requirement that his presence would demand of us to walk in integrity, let us pray.

Father, we are humbled that you’re El Shaddai, we are humbled by the very fact that you appear to us. You made your name, El Shaddai, almighty, supreme and you have shown us time and time again in the scriptures how you dealt with our forefathers, the fathers of faith.

And it's a privilege and honor to know that it was just not for them to enjoy but it was also for us to gain reference of what and who you are to us.

So I pray, Lord, that in our own journey of faith. May the desire for you to appeal to us. Be strong knowing that you will not deny us, that you desire to for you have named yourself after these qualities.

So that we in 2025 we can call you El Shaddai. Father may the hunger and a passion grow in us to experience more of who you are in our lives. I thank you for who you are and I thank you for what you've given us as names to call you.

So that as we call you by these names, we are surely calling the qualities of who you are in order for our faith and our walk to be enhanced. I pray for every single one of us that may the desire to know you, for you to appear to us, be strong so that these experiences that we go through will continue to enhance our journey of faith with you.

I thank you for the love that you have shown us and how you have reviewed yourself over the years and you're still doing as such for you are the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Today we asked to grow the passion in our hearts and in our minds, to know you to experience you to walk with you, to understand you, to ignore the knowledge of who you are to ask the Holy.

So that we can enjoy God the Father. I pray, Lord, that as we go throughout today, may we raise our expectations. May we raise our expectations knowing that you are able without a shadow of doubt, to fulfill every spiritual expectation we might have.

I pray Lord that may you by your spirit continue to lead us in all things true and in all things right. We don't know what to do. Sometimes our minds are limited. But God, we are rest assured that as long as we run to you, as long as we stand on Christ your words are yay and Amen.

Now as we go through this day, lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one, for thine is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever and ever, Amen.

Brothers and sisters let's raise our expectations and our desires for I know for a fact that God will fulfill all our needs according to his riches in glory. May the Lord bless you and your families.

May the Lord continue to equip you and strengthen you, and let us all have a blessed day and we'll see you tomorrow morning, Amen.
