The Qualities Of God As Revealed In His Names

"El Elyon - Most High"

A very good morning to you everybody. I hope you had a wonderful night. Well rested ready for another day. Let us go to the Lord in prayer.

Heavenly Father, we thank you this morning for this opportunity once again to exalt you, to worship you, to pray to devote, this time to you.

So that we start our day the right way, knowing Lord that each and every single day that we live, you have an idea for that day, you have an agenda for that day.

You have new mercies for that day. You have a word that's released in the earth for that particular day.

And Father, as we start our journey, we know others have already been in this day. Those who are living in parts like New Zealand or Africa or Asia are already deep into this day and we are just starting and we know without a shadow of doubt that you have a plan for this particular day.

So Father as we come to you this morning, as we come to you, each and every single day, it's our belief.

That when we start the day with you, we set all things right in motion because we know your God of order, your God of seasons, your God who will do things right and we are just joining in to what it is that you are doing.

So our efforts Lord we know have no meaning if your presence is not here. So as we start this day, Lord, we invite you now. We invite your presence in our lives so that you eliminate every step that we take as we journey along this life.

And we pray, Lord, with a full understanding that the Holy Spirit guide us. And you promise that you will never leave us none forsake us. So Father as we journey help us in all that we are doing and all that we're endeavoring to do.

The challenges we face, may you give us courage and boldness to face them with strength, knowing that full authority comes from you. So we bless you this morning and we honor you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen

Brothers and sisters I want you to always remember this fact every time you read scriptures. That the book was written to us as God revealed himself to us, so the Bible is a self disclosure book of God's Grace, mercy, authority, power, everything that has to do with him.

It was put in the Bible through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, so that God makes himself known to us without holy scriptures, without the Holy Spirit, without Jesus coming, we would not know who God is.

And so when we read scripture. We are looking at God through his eyes as he make himself known to us. That's why I always say the Bible tells us how we ought to pray. It gives us some prayers to pray and methodologists to pray, and the Bible also tells us how we ought to worship God.

He says you must worship me in spirit and in truth, so God, in his infinite wisdom, he has made the job easy for you and I. And he has removed all guessing games so that as we approach him, we have a clear understanding of how we can approach him.

The scripture says, enter my court with thanksgiving. So in other words, I'm telling you that when you come to my court come with thanksgiving. So when we are looking at God's names. He is revealing to you, and I who he is in order for you and I to have a greater understanding of who he is.

Why do we need a greater understanding so that our faith, our worship, how we pray, our confidence in him is enhanced without the knowledge of who God is. I think it would be difficult for us to actually watch him fully as he deserves.

That's why scriptures give us direction on how to do certain things, because left to us, we wouldn't have that knowledge. So as we are going through these names, my prayer is that our understanding of who God is and the way we worship him, the way we proclaim his name, the way we exhort him.

Takes a deeper in different meaning because we now have a greater understanding of who God is. That's why Jesus says he came to reveal the Father. The qualities of God and the qualities of God comes through also in the description through his names.

So the name we are looking at today is El Elyon. El Elyon is a way to describe God's position as the highest authority above all others. So when we have an understanding that God is the highest authority above all authority.

In fact, all authorities started with him. We don't have authority without God. We would never understand what authority is without God. So this name brings exhortation to the fact that he is the governing authority of all authority, so we exhort him for that reason now.

In these creatures in the Bible. El Elyon is used to praise God's strength and His Majesty, This is why you find this name mostly used in the song. Because there's a lot of praising and exhortation that King David and most of the writers of the Psalms.

Were going through as they were living their own life and in turn God revealed to them how he ought to be exalted. David had a greater understanding of who God is because of his experiences.

That's why, El Elyon, praising God comes through a lot through the Psalms because the man exhorted God because of his experiences with God. So for example, Psalms 9: 2 says I will praise you all Lord with all my heart, I will declare all your wonders wonderful deed.

Then in Psalms 21:7 says stays for he invests your strength in you he gives you victory and glory El Elyon. Another reference of El Elyon is the highest or uppermost, above everything, uppermost in other words, is the upper but most.

So in this understanding of his names, brothers and sisters our exhortation and our faith and our way of worshiping him and our way of praising God should go higher and higher because of the understanding that we get out of studying his names.

Like we said yesterday, the name of the thing usually defines what the thing does. So God, in his infinite wisdom, he has given us a plethora of names to explain the qualities of who he is and the thing we also stated yesterday is that he is not a little bit of everything.

No, he is the fool of everything. It just doesn't have a little quality here and another quality here to make up the totality of who he is. No he has full quality of one of his names and he has another full quality of one of his names to make up the totality of who God is.

That's how great our God is. So El Elyon is praising the uppermost, the highest God. Who is over it all. He covers every form of authority you will ever see in our world. He is above it, nothing else above him.

So when we say, Lord, we exalt your name far above all other names, we exalt you for how incredible you are. Your majesty we exalt you and we worship you, your name, far above all other names.

That's why this criticism at the mention of Jesus name every knee in heaven and in Earth. Shall bow because he is all authority. So we exalt God El Elyon, we exhort him above all other names.

So knowing that even means that in our exaltation anytime that we exhort him, we must exhort him with the full knowledge and scope of the fact that he is all authority and that should change the meaning of what exaltation is and how we exhort him.

If you are exhorting something that is far above or other authority. There is reverence that comes with it. I mean, have you seen all these when President visits monarchies or they travel to different countries and visit countries that still have kings and princes and Queens.

There is a protocol that is laid out for visiting heads of states of how to carry themselves. Is they need a king or a piece, or the Queen of England, then you cannot touch the queen on his back.

When you come, you must, you should never ever show the queen your back and all these things that are put in place in order to exalt and to give that person the highest and exaltation.

So they have all these protocols that they lease and send in advance that before your visit you should study them because when you come we don't want you to embarrass the queen by doing certain things that are out of order.

And that's done because they are expecting you to have great exaltation for this human being.

So when we see all those protocols at funerals, as we watch TV Princess Diana's death and all these things they do, all these things they do in order to honor and exalt other human beings.

They do that so that protocol is not broken. In their efforts, they are making it known to you this is how we want you to conduct yourself when you come into our presence. Now God far supersedes that.

This is why you we should also understand, as human beings all our ideas, all our ideas, we get them from God. The thing is that we just end up using gas ideas for other things exaltation belongs to God.

And when men grab hold of it, he then used it to try to exalt himself. That's why they with all these protocols, because we cannot exalt, we get all our ideas from God, but we just tend to use them for the wrong things.

Now if we can do that to other human beings. Then we should be able to understand that when we approach El Elyon the highest, the uppermost. That there is protocol, there is reference that has to be shown that comes with the name and the title.

We should not have more exaltation for people on the Earth. Even though God has given us the wisdom to respect all leadership. But when it comes to him, there is a level of reference and exaltation that should come with worshipping God.

Now think about this can you imagine God names himself El Elyon. In other words, I'm naming myself exultation. The highest exhortation. I mean, think about it. If you are to meet somebody and they tell you, oh, I named myself exaltation because I want you to respect me the uppermost.

Like if another person says that to us, the problem thing they are arrogant. Right, because no human being should deserve that highest place because we know who deserves the highest exultation.

So when God gives us this name, El Elyon Out of it. We are seeing how we need to exalt him and our position and exalting him now. If we want to have a full scope of what that looks like when we study these Psalms and you hear the words of King David as he exalts the Lord.

We should know and we should see that this is how other human beings, other men like us, revered God and that's how we got the Psalms pure exhortation to the highest and uppermost. And thus we get, thus we get the name El Elyon.

So brothers and sisters, as we continue to lend these names I pray that God continues to reveal to you His Majesty. His full authority, his full measure of who God is in our lives, and yet the same God with all these names.

Even the spirit then says to us the very first one we learnt. That is, Christ through us Abba Father. That we call him Father for God, so loved the world. That he gave his only son, his love for you and I has made him reveal himself to you and I. So that we have a knowledge and the full scope of who God is in our lives, Amen.

So let us continue knowing him. And let us continue growing in the full knowledge of who God, it’s for our benefit, for our faith and ultimately, for his praise and our worship and our prayer to grow as we have a full understanding of who God is.

So Heavenly Father, our blessed redeemer words cannot express the magnitude of who you are. We exalt your name far above all other names. We exalt you for who you are. We exalt you for strength and wisdom, and the full authority that you have above all other authority.

We exalt your name, Father. How great are your wonderful deeds? How awesome is your spirit in us to govern and to aid and to help us in our worship and in our interaction with you and with one another.

We exhort your name, Lord for your name is above every other name at the mention of your name, every knee in heaven and in Earth vows in full exaltation of who you are. We praise you all God for all that you have done and what you're still going to do in our lives, we praise you for how you have revealed yourself to us.

So that our worship as we lift it up carries reverence and carries respects to you for who you are. So we bless you holy and matchless name. We bless you, Lord, for all your deeds, the love that you have shown us.

The care that you have for us. We bless you that you have given us access to your Kingdom. You have given us keys to the heavenly realms for us to enter without reservation through the eternal covenant of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We thank you for his blood that he shed on the cross to grant us access to holy things. So far as we handle holy things, we thank you for that privilege and honor that we find ourselves in your courts through the Holy of Holies, even with our sinful nature through the blood of Jesus Christ, we can enter now.

So we exalt you for who you are and the access that you have given us. We thank you for our daily bread. We thank you, Lord, for your spirit that gives us knowledge and wisdom as we journey along this life.

We pray, Lord that may you by your spirit yield everybody and heal every emotional wound and heal every challenge that comes our way. May you help us, Lord, as we exalt you to face our challenges head on, knowing full authority belongs to you that nothing in this earth is hidden from you.

You see it all, yet you let us leave and you let us enjoy the qualities of who you are to us. So heavenly Father. We bless you. We bless your name. We honor you.

We thank you for what you have done and for this day that you have given us, we are thoroughly going to enjoy it, knowing that you have already gone ahead of us.

And new mercies for this day, we claim them. Who we know they belong to us through your grace and through your love. So, Father of the heavens, our Father, our Father, El Elyon, Elohim, Yahweh we bless you and we honor you.

We exalt you far above all other names. So as we have entered this course with thanksgiving we're now look forward for this day. knowing Lord that you have gone ahead us. So work with us, reveal yourself to us.

Help us in our efforts to do right. Help us in our quest to establish things. Grant us favor, give us wisdom. Give us understanding and knowledge to deal with the challenges that are presented or that come our way.

Help us to see the opportunities around those challenges knowing fully well that you God you are above it all. The uppermost, the highest of the highest. So, Father, take us today and walk with us, challenges where we need to be challenged.

Strengthen us where we fall short. The things we can do for ourselves, we pray for courage and boldness and determination that which we cannot do send help. Send help and help us to see you the way you want us to see you.

We thank you and we honor you, and we exhort your name. Now lead us not into temptation continue to deliver us from the evil one. For thine is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever and ever, Amen and Amen.

Brothers and sisters continue to exalt the Lord and may the Lord bless you and your family and your children, bless the works of your hands. Bless the ideas that you get from him. May he bless the works of the one he sends you.

May you take every opportunity that he presents to you and do what he has called you to do. So that glory and honor remains to Him. But above all else may he continue to give us Jesus. Have a wonderful Friday.

Have a wonderful weekend and we will meet this coming Sunday for Bible study on zoom. As we continue to study the word of God together and as we continue to grow in his promises, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge because God desires for you and I to grow.

Remember, we are in a Kingdom that is growing and you and I, we have a mandate to grow. We cannot grow, we cannot choose to grow. Because if we are not growing, we are dying.

So as long as you are alive, you have a goal to grow and you must grow. You have no choice, Amen. May the Lord bless you, see you on Sunday have a great weekend.
