The Qualities Of God As Revealed In His Names
"Psalm 46:7-11 Jehovah Sabaoth -The Lord of Hosts"
Good morning, everyone a happy Friday to you all. Well, every day is a happy day because we know the Lord let us go to the Lord and prayer precious Heavenly Father how we thank you for this day. How we thank you for your goodness and mercy.
How we thank you that you have seen us through all the years that we have lived. All the trials and we have gone through everything leading up to this day. You have been with us and we thank you, Heavenly Father, for this fellowship, this gathering,
This daily morning gathering Heavenly Father in which our brothers and sisters in Christ come to your throne and wait to hear from you through your Holy Spirit as you speak through each and every one of us Heavenly Father.
So thank you, Heavenly Father, for the precious gift, the precious privilege and responsibility to share your word. Now, Lord, I pray that you will speak through me Father God and keep me small so that you can be larger in my life and in the lives of everyone on this call. We give you praise, honor and glory in Jesus name, Amen.
Amen family this morning we are going to looking at another name of God, and that is Jehovah Sabaoth, Jehovah Sabaoth, which means the Lord of hosts. And our focus Scripture is going to be Psalm 46:7-11, but I'm going to focus, I'm going to read the whole song because it's not that long.
And then let's see what the Lord says and what stands out as I'm reading it. So Psalm 46, God is our refuge and strength. A very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.
But its waters roar and be troubled, where the mountains shake with its swelling selah. There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the Tabernacle, of the most high.
God is in the midst of her. She shall not be moved. God shall help her just at the break of dawn. The nations raged, The kingdoms were moved. He uttered his voice. The earth melted. The Lord of hosts is with us, the God of Jacob is our refuge, Selah.
Come behold the works of the Lord, who has made desolations in the earth. He makes wars cease to the end of the Earth. He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two. He burns the chariot in the fire. Be still and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord of hosts is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge, Selah. And family I can't think of anything more fitting for this time that we're in to remind us that we serve the Lord of hosts.
No matter what we see, no matter how much Saber rattling, bomb dropping, drone killings, no matter what, no matter what. Leader rises and falls. God alone is our refuge and strength.
He is ever present. He is with us in trouble, therefore, don't fear. No matter what we see going around going on around us, no matter how the earth is shaking, let us remember, as in the Old Testament,
When God was freeing the Israelites from the Egyptians through all the plagues and everything that was going on, he protected the Israelites from all the plagues. And it doesn't mean that times aren't going to be difficult for us.
But it does mean that we are not to fear we are not to panic because we serve the most high God, the Lord of hosts, the Lord of all the Heavenly armies. That's who we serve. He is in our midst. He sees he knows what's going on.
Everything that is around. Every person that seeks to exalt himself above the most high God, every person that has forgotten that he is just a mere breath. He/ she will come to an end.
He/ she/ it will come to an end. But we, my brothers and sisters, have the promise of everlasting life. And while we're here on this earth this Psalm is reminding us that God is with us. The nations will rage, the kingdoms will move, but with one word of God, all will be still.
So this Psalm is reminding us God is our head, he is the head of the host. The heavenly hosts so we are in the meantime as we see all this going around us in the meantime. We are to be still, be still.
Don't get caught up in the latest news and I'm using the word very lightly. News headlines and latest doom stories, don't doom scroll on your phone looking for the latest bad news. Bad piece of information that contains some truth, some false falsehoods.
But it's all designed for one purpose to shake our faith. To get us unsettled so that we'll put our eyes on the world and get our eyes off God, make no mistake. Everything we see around us is designed to get our eyes off God and into worry and fear.
That is one of the enemies tactics. He's not mocking us. He's trying to scare us. He's trying to threaten us, but this Psalm reminds us the Lord God is Jehovah Sabaoth, the Lord of hosts, and if God is allowing all of this to happen.
Remember, he's sovereign. He's not surprised by any of this. He's showing us exactly what we're capable of if we don't honor God as the Lord of hosts the most high God, he's showing us what we are capable of.
But thank the Lord that as his children, no matter what we see, though, the earth rages. We serve the most high God. He is our refuge and strength and what is he required of us, of us, be still, be still and know.
Don't doubt know that he is God, he alone will be exalted among the nations, all these leaders around the world who are seeking to exalt themselves. They will be brought to nothing, and God alone will be exalted in the earth.
So look up, look up and know he is God. He is with us. He is our refuge. So just a very brief word this morning, my brothers and sister is just a word of encouragement. No matter what you're facing today, this weekend and the days ahead.
No matter what you may hear, no matter what you may see with your eyes, no matter all the fear, that's that that's being instilled and perpetrated upon us. Remember, remember, be still and know that he is God.
He is our refuge. He is our strength. He is with us. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, how we thank you for your word. How we thank you that these words that were written so many thousands of years ago.
We can read today and we can take comfort in these words Heavenly Father in these truths. Thank you so much for the words and the Old Testament. Thank you so much for the words and the New Testament.
Thank you so much for the words that you bring to our mind that you raise up in our hearts that we can take comfort in Heavenly Father. And Father, we seek shelter under your wings.
We seek shelter knowing that you are in our midst and we are confident in this Heavenly Father. So we pray your forgiveness Heavenly Father, when we are tempted to be anxious, when we are tempted to just observe what our eyes see and think that's it.
And think that that's the truth. Help us to have eyes of spiritual discernment Heavenly Father, help us to have minds that are steadfast and focused on you. Help us even go all around us is shaking and quaking and fearing and angry and raging.
Help us father to be still. I thank you Heavenly Father, for this fellowship. I thank you that every morning we can gather together, we can pray together, we can believe together because your word says where two or more are gathered together in your name they are in our midst.
So we thank you, Heavenly Father, that you are indeed in our midst and when we have a tendency to get shaky, to get frightened, you have called our families together to support one another, to pray for one another, to uphold one another.
Father to be physical bodies, Heavenly Father on this earth to encourage each other to give each other a hand, a hug, a word, a prayer. Thank you, Heavenly Father, for this family. I ask your blessings upon each and everyone that is hearing my voice right now, and I thank you for each and everyone that we're here my voice later.
I just pray Heavenly Father, for your comfort to rest, rule and abide in each and every one of our lives in each and every one of our homes Heavenly Father we thank you, that you are indeed the Lord of hosts. You are ahead of it all and it's all in your control.
All we have to do is be still be still and know. So increase our knowing Heavenly Father of you as we pursue you and seek you every day. Help us to know that you are Lord of hosts.
Thank you once again, Heavenly Father I pray that you would go before each and everyone of us this day and this weekend that you will give us discernment, give us wisdom. Guide us in all things. Show us the path that we must go in this day and every day.
Thank you, Father God, once again for your grace, your mercy and your presence. We give you all glory and honor in Jesus precious name, Amen. Amen family, God bless you, the Lord of hosts is with you and he is going before you everywhere you go. We love you. Have a safe, have a happy, have a blessed weekend.
