Thus Says The Lord-Who God Says He Is, His Commandments and Promises
Genesis 22:15-18 - "In Your Seed All The Nations Of The Earth Shall Be Blessed, Because You Have Obeyed My Voice"
Very good morning and very good morning to you everybody. I hope you had a wonderful night. You're well rested and ready for another day. And if you're living in the South I'm sure your kids are on their way to school or they are already at school or you have put them on the bus.
And I know if you're up north, you still have one more month for them to go back to school nonetheless, to all the parents who have sent kids to school, you did well in the summer. Let us pray.
Heavenly Father, we thank you this morning as we come before you. We thank you for this time that we have set aside just to hear from you, to fellowship with you, to understand thus says the Lord.
So that as we continue to attune ourselves to you we find this journey of salvation easy. Not because it is easy, but because we know we are working with you. So Father as we dedicate, this time, speak to us, help us understand your mandate.
Help us to understand, help us to see you, help us to understand one another and help us to understand the act of the Holy Spirit so that our lives are enriched and ultimately so that somebody, somewhere gets to believe and are part of the number.
So we thank you for salvation. We thank you for Jesus for dying on the cross and giving us access to a Kingdom that was concealed but now is revealed. So as we look at this word this morning help us in all that we do in Jesus name, Amen.
Brothers and sisters today we are in Genesis 22:15. But before we go to verse 15, this is one of the most incredible and significant chapters in the Bible. We get three things that happened in this chapter that are literally happens for the first time, and again, the rule of fascination.
Tells us that when we see a thing or a principle or a word mentioned in the scripture that sets the foundation in which that word or that particular theme or principle will forever be carried throughout the scripture and ought to be respected, understood, and also understand, sorry.
And then also We have to follow it in that manner. So in 22 of Genesis, this is the first time we see God speaking to Abraham to sacrifice his son. So we have obedience at a higher level. Then we have giving at a higher level and we also have the first mention of worship in the scriptures. There was nobody singing in these scriptures.
This was the sacrificial event that was about to take place. There was no singing, but he had this whole entire scene. God calls Abraham, calls it worship. Now 22 says now it came to pass. This is verse one that after these things that God tested Abraham.
So remember God has already told Abraham that you're going to be father of many nations, you've got the Abrahamic covenant given. And now we get to this place and God says to him, he God tested him and he said take your now only son, Isaac.
Whom you love and go to the land of Moriah and offer him there as a band offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you. So Abraham Rose early in the morning and settled his donkey and took two of his sons, his young men with him.
Two of his young men with him and Isaac, his son, and his split the wood for burnt offering and arose and went to a place of which God had told him. Then on the third day since the third day, Abraham lifted his eyes and saw the place of far and Abraham said to his young men, stay here with the donkey.
The lad and I will go yonder and worship and we'll come back to you. At this juncture here, the only person who knows what's about to take place is Abraham. Sarah does not know.
The young men in his camp do not know. Isaac has no idea what's taking place. They believe they're going to go offer a sacrifice. Why it had to be Mount Moriah we have no idea but God wanted him to go to Mount Moriah.
So Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid on Isaac his son, and he took the fire in his hand and the knife and the two of them went together. But Isaac spoke to Abraham, his father, and said my father and he said here I am my son.
Then he said, look, the fire and the wood but where is the lamb for the burnt offering? And Abraham said my son God will provide for himself the lamp for burnt offering. So the two of them went together, then they came to the place of which God had told him, and Abraham built and alter there.
And placed wood in order and he bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the alter upon the wood. And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. Verse 11, important.
But the angel called him from heaven and said Abraham, Abraham so he said here I am, he said do not lay your hand on the lad or do anything to him for now, I know that you fear God. Since you have not withheld your son, your only son from me.
Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket that is strong. So Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up for burnt offering instead of his son.
Abraham called the name of this place the Lord will provide. In other words, we call it Jehovah. That's where we get the word Jehovah Jireh. As it is said to this day in the mountain of the Lord it shall be provided in the mountain of the Lord, it shall be provided.
In other words, if you are to do anything for God, God himself shall provide, not you, not me God himself shall provide. If you are to do anything for the Lord, God shall provide. Verse 15, the Angel of the Lord called Abraham the second time, second time out of heaven.
Now I should imagine that yes, an angel this is actually Gabriel because he is the messenger. He calls the first time God speaks to Abraham 1st and he gives him instructions go and slay your son as a burnt offering.
The first time and end your cause and he says Abraham, do not lay your hands on your son. Cause this is proof that you are obedient. Not only this is not the first time, Abraham has been obedient.
This is the first time in worship Abraham is being obedient. And the second time, the Angel of the Lord caught Abraham and says, as by myself I have sworn says the Lord because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only son.
Blessing, I will bless you and multiply and I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore and your descendants shall possess the gate of enemies.
Oh my God in your seed, all the nations of the Earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice. Obedience, worship and giving. They are all a form of worshipping God.
Obedience, if you obey God, you are actually worshipping him. Now the scripture says offer your body as a living sacrifice as an act of worship, in other words, give, giving is an act of worship. Obedience is an act of worship. Lifting your hands up worshiping God is an act of worship.
These three things always go together. You can't offer your body as a living sacrifice if you are not willing to give it. And in order to do that, you must obey and to worship God is an act of sacrifice, of giving thyself.
And Abraham did it all in this scene here. And twice in the same composition he speaks to God and God sent Gabriel twice. One to intervene, two to tell him the message that God had given to Abraham.
I wonder why God did not speak to Abraham the two times that he stopped him and the third time. Where you have given him a message. I'm sure God was probably thinking I can't believe I was about to ask this man to sacrifice his son.
We don't know. It's an assumption, but what we know is that the angel spoke to him twice. And as I was reading these guys I realized that the things that we desperately or fall in love doing for God, we will always cause a response from the heavens.
There is nothing you are going to do for God with all your heart, with all your mind, with all your might as an act of obedience, without question, without reservation. That God will not respond from the heavens.
That’s why the scripture says if you do these two, such as that you are doing it for me says and in that regard, I owe you something. That's what the scripture says. That's what God says. If you give as an act of obedience.
God himself says I will owe you. And brothers and sisters this is one thing, this is 3 things we need to master in our walk with God obedience, worship and giving. We have to master these three things.
Because it does something to God's heart and causes him to respond. In other words, if you want God to give or to respond to you these three things must be in play. That's why when we lift our hands and worship with all our hearts, with our minds in spirit, and in truth, the Holy Spirit will never fail to show up.
It's guaranteed that he will show up. That's why if we move God's heart by our giving he says in return you're going to get joy, you're going to get. There's things you're going to get.
So in other words by the way guys, we are not giving so we can get we are giving because we know the father appreciates it. There is things that we do or we did when we were young, for not because we wanted, because we just wanted to make our parents proud.
Now giving and willpower are the two kids that are constantly fighting. It's easy to hear from the Lord. It's easy to obey and wanting to do. But the act of releasing is one of the most difficult things that challenges us as human beings.
I always say most times answered prayer is stuck in human will. God has already released a thing, but human will is in the way. Standing trying to decide or determine how the act of giving should or? One of the things that makes Abraham remarkable is that he never questions he never tried to understand.
He never sought advice. He never tried to figure God can I, instead of my son, can I? He never did. And this is one of the most difficult things anyone could ever be asked to do. Not once did he question God.
Because this man had walked with him for so long and he had seen him, he had heard him. He had seen him do remarkable things. But on this day took his son, didn't tell his wife, didn't tell his son, didn't tell his servants.
That journeyed along and from a distance he saw Mount Moriah told his servants hey, you might stop me if you knew what I was about to do, so stay here for I'm about to go up there and worship the Lord but there was number singing involved here.
This is pure obedience to God's instructions. And out of that we get obedience, worship and giving and he gave his son. But God did not want him to give his son because he wanted to give him son, but he's showing us what is to come.
That the thing that I want all of us to get and to understand is that obedience, giving and worship will always move God's heart. Because twice in this event, an angel calls out from the heavens with words of encouragement to Abraham.
I wonder how many things that we have done when we have given sacrificially and God has intervened on some things and brought some things in orders. This is why we have to master these things because it enhances our relationship with God.
So let's think about this for a moment. Let's say somebody's been praying for a thing for six months. And God says I heard you but I can't physically come down and give it to you. I have to rely on another person to give you this thing.
So in order for this person to receive what God has in store for them. There is another human being that will have to hear the Lord, obey the Lord and go out of their way to receive what God wants them to give because the scripture tells us that it is God who gives seed to the sower.
So in other words the person who is sowing has to have determined in their heart that they are going to be a giver. Then after that, God says I will give you the seed to saw I do not want you to give out of the abundance of because the scripture says God shall provide according to his riches in glory.
He doesn't say human beings God will provide according to his riches in glory. So anytime that God gives you something to give, the problem is that most times it gets stuck in human will. We either keep, we either use what God has given us to give.
And this is how you know, brothers and sisters if you ever receive something that is way beyond what you were what he had not asked for at all. For example they say all my bills are paid and everything is great this month.
And from the blue somebody just calls and says Pastor Zee I want to give you. I'm coming to your house and it drops a check on my door for $20,000. If you actually pay attention, brothers and sisters, if you don't have a need that needs to be met immediately.
If you actually pay attention immediately after that there is always someone or something that takes place or breaks that needs to be paid for. And the two are usually married because it's God supplying seed to the soul, so pay attention to extraordinary blessings that take place usually when all that you need is paid for.
It simply means God has something that he needs to sow into. And the act of obedience means that you would have hurt a lot so hearing obedience go together. That's why the scripture keeps telling reiterates over and over again.
Whoever has an ear, let him hear what the spirit of the Lord has said. Because hearing and giving go together, sacrifice worship and obedience and giving it all goes together. So it is important that we become givers and again, this is not about giving money, brothers and sisters, this is about giving time.
This is about calling somebody when the Lord tells them in your heart this is about spending time with somebody when the Lord tells you to go do it. This is about giving financially if he tells you to give financially.
This is about making yourself available for the Kingdom. Now here is the proof why this matters. One man's act of obedience and his acts of worship and his act of giving one man caused God to cut a covenant with him.
That you and I in 2025 will walk in the blessing of the Lord because of Abraham's covenant and his act of obedience, his act of worship and his act of giving. That's how remarkable giving is that you can activate things for your children, great grandchildren, unborn to time.
Now, if the scripture says the sins of the father to visit 4th generation. In other words, there's things that I will do today in this world that will affect people that I will never see 4 generations down the road. That's just the scenes.
Now I want you to imagine what my act of forbidden or act of giving and sacrifice and love. What it will set in motion for those who are coming 3 generations down the road. This is why I will always try to go beyond. Doing something for another person because it is an act of worship.
Because what happens after guys is when that person opened their mouth to thank God. It’s like they are giving a report on you to God. And that, my friend, activates God to even do more because that is not going to ask you to sacrifice or to give when you yourself are struggling.
You will make sure that you be taken care of. That's why he says to Abraham hey, hey, hey even though I might have asked you, you don't have to do it. Since I will give you, I will give you what to saw. You don't have to do it, I will give you what to saw.
It's a principle. It's a principle that God has that if you desire to be a giverof time he will provide. All you have to do. Is just desire to do it. Now let's look at let's look at 17 here then we get this day going. Says blessings I will bless you and multiplying our multiply your descendants.
Brothers and sisters if you cannot multiply nothing with something and get something, 5 0 is 0. 100 0 is 0, 1 million times 0 is 0. You can place any number and multiply it with nothing and you get nothing.
So it's safe to say multiplying without adding anything gives you nothing. So if we are, if God is to multiply. That means we must add something for multiplication to take place and what God asks us to add before you multiplies.
It's not things, it's obedience, worshipped and giving. Once you add then God will multiply. You can put now look at Abraham does three things. He obeys the Lord, he worships and he gives three things.
And God comes back and he says I will take your three things and I will multiply your descendants as the sand which is on the seashore. And your descendants shall possess the gate of the enemies. Oh my God just from these three things, God comes back and says now here's what we're going to multiply and this is what's going to happen.
Now if you ever go to the beach and look at the sand and then you realize this is what the Lord is saying. Your descendants will be as multiplied just as the sand of the shore. That's remarkable.
That all this takes place because somebody was willing to obey, to hear the Lord, obey the Lord. Remember, we're talking about doubt, says the Lord. When God speaks, somebody has to hear. Obey, act, sacrifice give and worship. And out of that, we get incredible multiplication.
These things that have taken place in my life and I realized I did not work for it and some of it I even now start to consider is because if you are willing to just hear the Lord and give off yourself God is willing to make you a sower.
That's why the scripture says the greatest amongst you will be a servant. Some of the most remarkable people in the world are people who serve others because they are giving of themselves.
That's why we should never treat people unfairly who work in service, at restaurants. Never ever because they are giving of themselves. It's an act that is so difficult to master that there's people who are so great at it.
They are adding to and God will always multiply them. So before we multiply, we have to hear from the Lord. We have to obey, we have to give and we have to worship. Then God shall multiply and give. Jesus was all of these three things.
This is why he could take bread and break it, and it multiplies in his hand. Because he was the, he was the official sacrifice. The ultimate sacrifice that was him. Constantly worshipping the Father, giving himself.
That's why things could be multiplied in Jesus hand. Because once you add, you can multiply comfortably, Amen. So, brothers and sisters, let's get better at giving. Let's get better at worshipping, and let's get better at obeying the Lord, Amen. Let us pray.
Heavenly Father, we thank you that you love us. That you are always instructing us in things that will help and aid our walk with you. We know there are so many things to be done in this world.
Even the scripture tells us the harvest is plenty, but the laborers are few. People who have unwillingness to do what you have called them to do they are few, so I pray Lord that in our quest and our desire to serve you to do things that pleases your heart.
Help us to execute that which we hear. Help us to be obedient. Help us to sacrifice of ourselves to give of ourselves, to give of our time. To give of our money to give of things, to give of efforts.
Just to bless another person so they get to believe so that we can be an answer to somebody's prayer. I pray, Lord, that you quicken our hearts and our steps to do what you're calling us to do so that you can multiply us.
Thank you for great grace and thank you for strength, courage, boldness, determination to do that which is right. I pray, Lord that as you continue to teach us to educate us, to educate us in spiritual things.
May we grow exponentially and may we be multiplied as we execute that which you have called us to execute. I pray for wisdom for us parents and grandparents, as we continue to raise our children.
Thank you, Lord, for intervening in some areas and things and places and as we have sent our kids to school, bless them in the school year's blessing upon blessing, strength upon strength, wisdom upon wisdom.
Let them be an example for another child to believe in God. We pray, Lord, that there will be no peer pressure on them to be part of something they should not be part of. I pray Lord, for your spirit to guide them in their interactions with their friends and their teachers and their and their principals.
Out of them we are asking for a generation that will receive the Kingdom of God. Thank you for wholeness, no sickness and disease. Wholeness, emotional wholeness, spiritual wholeness, physical wholeness in the name of Jesus.
Father I pray for many blessings and we thank you that our kids have been to summer accident free. That God you are now guiding them and we thank you for all that you have done and what you're still going to do.
Bless us parents with everything that we need so that we can continue to guide them in the ways they should go. So that when they are older they will not depart from it. I pray for anyone amongst us who may be sick.
That God continue to heal us emotionally, spiritually, physically even from past mistakes and things that we have done or things that have been done to us when we were young, that still bother us, I pray, Lord, that may we be released from bondage.
So that we can walk in freedom. I thank you for being our Father and for us being your children. Now as we go through this day, continue to bless us all, continue to strengthen us, continue us to make us wise as we are dealing with a treacherous world and we will forever be grateful and will forever give you glory.
Now lead us not into temptation, deliver us from the evil one, for thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory forever and ever, Amen. Brothers and sisters obedience, giving and worship.
Let's get better at it and watch the Lord multiply us. Multiply you in the things that you're capable of doing. May the Lord bless you. Let us all have an incredible phenomenal day working expectation and you shall see the Lord.
We'll see you tomorrow, do not forget tomorrow is Friday. We're going to praying for needs. So make sure that if you have any need that is cropped up. If you have any cousins, nephews that you got places in your heart throw them in the heart.
We lift them to the Lord so they can also get closer to God as much as we are closer to him, Amen. We'll see you tomorrow, Friday.
