Thus Says The Lord-Who God Says He Is, His Commandments and Promises
Genesis 17:1-8 - "I Am Almighty God; Walk Before Me And Be Blameless"
A very good morning, a very good morning to you and praying that you had a wonderful night, well rested, ready for another day as we prepare to fellowship with one another and fellowship with God and let's go to the Lord in prayer.
Father, we thank you for your goodness and your mercy that you provide to us every morning and we claim ours today. We thank you for what you have instore for us. We know this day is the day that you have made.
We are rejoicing in it and we are glad in it. We thank you, Lord, that you love her so dearly that you always prepare something for us every single day. Even right now, Lord, we are aware that there are people who have already experienced this day.
People in New Zealand, people in Zimbabwe that have already gone into this day and we know you have released a word, an idea for this day that others have already experienced and we are coming along experiencing the same thing.
The same agenda that you have for us today. So, Father, we thank you so as we find this river, may we flow in it may we find ourselves, may we find you may we find your voice.
May we hear you during this day and in various times and spaces may we have the opportunity to be kind, To be loving, to be caring, to be inspiring to somebody so that they get to believe and may we never lose an opportunity to minister this gospel to another.
So we thank you and Father, as we come together as a family, we devote this time to you knowing, Lord, that you meet with us and you encourage us and you inspire us as we go throughout this day, so we bless you for all that you are doing and what you have in store for us today in Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Brothers and sisters, we are back in Genesis and today we are looking again at the covenant that Abraham had with that God had with Abraham. Now yesterday you know God told Abraham that I am your great reward and we can see in there they are having this conversation.
And Abraham ends up asking the Lord to bless him with son because he understood that he has an inheritance and at some point he has to give it to somebody and God promised him again.
Now brothers and sisters, as I was looking yesterday at the Book of Genesis. God made at least three distinct promises to Abraham about having a son. First it was in Genesis 12 and then later on, God promised him that he will be a great nation and to bless him, which also implies what descendants right.
Then in Genesis 15, God reiterates the promise, specifies that the son from Abraham's own body will be the heir, and that his descendant will be as numerous as the stars. Then in 16, they're having this conversation again, and the issue of descendant and air comes back up again.
In 17 then God then establishes a covenant with Abraham pertaining to this matter of having descendants and instead of a promise which he had done in 12,15 and then 16 a little bit there, he just promised he made the promise.
But then this time, God begs that promise with a covenant. Now, brothers and sisters, there's a difference between your promise and the covenant. A promise is something that somebody tells another person that they are going to do.
A covenant is when God says is a covenant is when we have to do something to solidify what we are agreeing today to make sure that this is binding and forever enshrined in the parties hearts and minds that this took place.
So God, at this point in time, now he is making a covenant with Abraham. Now let's read Genesis 17. When Abraham was 90 years old the Lord appeared to him and said I am God almighty. Walk before me faithfully and be blameless.
So here's the first instruction of this covenant. Walk before me blameless then I will make my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers. Walk before me, be blameless and I will make it covenant between me and you.
And will greatly increase your numbers. Abraham fell face down and God said to him as for me this is God now talking about him. As, for me this is my covenant with you. You will be the father of many nations.
No longer will you be called Abram, Your name will be Abraham. For I have made you a father of many nations. I will make you very fruitful. I will make nations of you and Kings will come from you.
I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come. And what is the covenant? To be your God and the God of your descendants after you.
The whole land of Cannan where you now reside as a foreigner, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you and that would be their God. Then Abraham, then God said to Abraham as for you, you must keep my covenant.
You and your descendants, after you for the generations to come. This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you. The covenant you are to keep.
Now every male among you shall be circumcised. You are to undergo circumcision and it will be a sign for the covenant. Now, brothers and sisters God was so serious about what he had promised Abraham that he decided that he was going to make a covenant with him.
So that as a reminder you will never forget and I'm going to circumcise you to make sure that this covenant is binding. That if you ever forget, if you ever start doubting anything I want you to look at yourself and recognize that this covenant is a reminder this this circumcision is a reminder of what I am saying today, that forever this will be binding.
The interesting thing about this covenant guys is that God tells Abraham the things that he needs to do in the covenant, now if before, prior to this, God was just promising things. He was just telling Abraham this is what I'm going to bless you with.
But in 17, he says let's make a covenant that is binding. That holds me to my word and it holds you to the word I am giving you today. Remember in 16 he says what can you give me I don’t have a son.
So Abraham makes what in his heart known in other words, he tells God this is what I desire. This is what I want. So I'm making, I'm giving an ask. And then God will return in his response he is like all right, since you asked me.
But he had promised him again in 12, right and in 15 but Abraham reiterates this again. Why is he reiterating again? Because he's looking at his condition and his situation, and he realized that this is kind of difficult. Can this actually took place take place? Can this happen so he is continuously asking God because in his heart and his mind he is sure, but not really sure whether this can take place.
Because of his condition and his environment, he's looking around and he's looking at himself and he's looking at what God is promising and he's trying to figure out how is this going to happen.
That's why even Sarah says, how is this going to happen? But this time God says well I'm going to make a contract with you. I'm going to remove this promise and make it a covenant and here's the covenant I'm going to bless you.
I'm going to give you descendants numerous stars, but for you the things that I need you to do in this covenant. Walk blamelessly walk before me faithfully and be blameless.
Now these two statements here, these two words here shows the responsibility that made Abraham the Father of many nations. So now this responsibility for God to bless many nations and Abraham's descendants was sitting on one thing. Abraham to be faithful and to walk blamelessly before God.
So I want you to imagine, I think the they say since the beginning of times to now I think it's hundred is 109 billion people that have passed through the Earth. 109 billion people that have passed through the earth.
And when you look at that number based on what they believe the stars are, the stars they predict maybe a trillion of them, something like that. And God says to Abraham, lookup you see this stars?
That's how many people are going to be blessed because of you. That's how your descendants are going to be like. But in order for all those people to ever receive this blessing that I'm giving you today.
I'm putting this responsibility on you that you walk faithfully and blamelessly before me. And every single nation in the world will be blessed because of you. And that's the covenant I'm making with you.
So in other words, if Abraham does not work faithfully and is blamed for something that means we as a people as nations, we will not receive the blessing that God has for all nations and all people groups.
So now God solidifies this by circumcising this old man to make these contracts and this covenant binding. So that it's set in stone that it will never change. This is what it will forever be until my return.
This is the God we serve. That centuries ago he made sure that we are going to walk into this river of blessings. Because of one man's faithfulness and how you worked before you upright.
Which means that you and I because if this is true, remember I always teach on the first mention of something in the Bible that when you receive something in the scriptures that is mentioned for the first time.
You need to follow that because the same principle and concept behind that word applies throughout Scripture and throughout The human race. The same way it applies at its first mention says called the rule of first mention.
So we get covenant from there, because God is binding himself to his word, this is why the scripture says my word will never go and return void because God binds himself to what he tells us and makes sure that it is done.
That's why his word is yay and Amen. It's never going to change. This is what it is, and it will always be this way and he makes it known on this particular day by circumcising this old man.
So that you and I forever will walk in this blessing that we will be blessed because of this men's faithfulness. This is how important Abraham was. This is how incredibly important Abraham was.
So covenants are binding. Promises is one way. That when God cuts a covenant with you and then ask you to do something and you do something in return. That covenant is binding forever binding and we are walking in the blessing of Abraham because of this covenant in Genesis 17.
Now, brothers and sisters I feel sorry for people who don't like to read the Old Testament because there is foundational truth that we find in these early book and chapters. That we have to understand in order to console ourselves in some of the challenges that we face in our world.
My people perish because they lack knowledge. What knowledge do we lack knowledge of how God interacts with us and thinks that he has set in place in order to fulfill his mandate in humanity.
So when we don't know what belongs to us, then it's possible that we can end up in the wrong destination. These covenants are important for us to understand because we can trace how God blesses us.
And we can also trace how God has been consistent with humanity from the beginning of times to now. This is why everybody loves the rainbow, that's why when we see it in the sky, our hearts just smelt.
Why? Because again, God made a covenant that this will be a sign that I will forever never, ever, ever destroy the earth with water again. And he makes a covenant and he says he has a sign.
But this particular time he pushed the sign on the man, he cut him. So that if you ever look at yourself you remember, you will forever remember that I bless you and the children are going to come through you will forever be blessed because of what takes or took place today.
This is the God we serve, this is how much he loves us that he binds himself to the things that he says to us and he is God is bent on fulfilling every promise, and every covenant that he made with humanity is bent on doing it.
Because he is not a man and he does not lie. So if you ever travel and you find yourself in another nation, the first thing that you should do when you land is recognize that this nation I'm standing in now has being blessed because of what took place between God and Abraham in Genesis 17.
So now when you see scriptures that says I'll give you land wherever your feet trade, I will give it to you. Because I created the earth, the earth is mine and the fullness there of it. And you shall give it to whomsoever I desire.
And along with that, there's a government that is binding forever binding that exists so that you and me we are blessed and this binds these are some of the things that binds all of humanity together.
This is why people from another country can help another country because they behind us, behind us, set in stone his covenants, his promises that God made. So that you and I can flourish on this earth because of his word.
So I want us to make it a habit as we read these books in Genesis or wherever we see a binding contract or a promise that God makes or made to us. That in the midst of our challenges and the things that we do.
You can read this and realize oh I am blessed because somebody has already done it for me and I’m a descendant of this blessing and my kids and my children will walk in this everlasting promise and covenant that God makes with humanity.
So in our prayer, we can remind God. That you made a covenant with the Father of faith. And he walked before you, blamelessly and faithfully and you promised him that for generations and born to time, you will bless every single one of us.
So as a Father I need and I want my blessing. Because it is a promise and it is a covenant. So nobody should ever walk around feeling like you are not blessed because you are, Amen.
So in our asking let's ask the right thing. Let's not ask a miss and in our asking, let's make sure we understand and know that God desires to bless us. That he made a covenant that was binding o him and to mankind.
Through faithful fathers and through blameless fathers. Thinking or feeling like you don't belong, Amen. Brothers and sisters, if you're in the South, that's two days left for kids to go back to school and I'd know people in the north they still have a whole entire month.
I think school starts 3rd of September or something like that. So we want to continue to pray for our kids as they get ready to go back to school and. Let's make it a habit to bless them.
You know when they are passing through you and just going somewhere. Just grab them and give them a blessing and bless you, I bless you with the same blessing that God gave Abraham.
I bless you. I bless you That you will be blessed because of what Abraham did. So let us pray. Dear Heavenly Father we thank you for your love. We thank you for everything that you are doing in our lives.
We thank you, Lord, for these moments of where you come to remind us of things that are binding. To help us in our quest to live prosperous lives. We thank you for your work that is yay, and Amen. That it will never return to your void. That your words will go on to accomplish the very essence of who you are in the earth.
So, Father, as we stand today in 2025 we recognize that there are foundational things that are set in stone that we must enjoy. Because others walked in faithfulness and blameless. That you saw it fit that through them you will bless every single person in every single nation.
So we thank you that your love and care for us is binding and put in a contract that we don't have to do anything but other than just receive that which others worked for in their faithfulness.
That's why it was counted to Abraham to righteousness, it was counted for him. He got extra credit for being righteous before you and now we walk behind him and we receive and accept this blessing and walk in it in the name of Jesus.
We lift up our children as they get ready to go back to school. Father, I pray against this spirit of screens and television and phones and anything that is on the screen. We know how much it is destroying our children.
That every agenda is placed on a screen, knowing that our kids, this generation is addicted to phones, televisions and anything that move and we know how the enemy has played us.
Even US parents that in order to keep our children under control, we gave them phones and iPads and all kinds of screens and thus we now have a generation that is dealing with a complicated issue and an enemy that is using the waves just to distract and to contaminate their minds.
So we've come against this spirit that Father, may you help our children to be disciplined through the aid of the Holy Spirit. We know there are so many things that are being thrown at them. The television and phones and all kinds of screens that are being thrown at them day and night.
I pray that may you guard their hearts, their minds, their eyes, their ears from hearing things that contaminate their spirits. Remove this addiction that has plagued a generation and we know it's getting worse for, they're creating so many different softwares just to infiltrate the minds and hearts of people.
So we come against it in the name of Jesus. Raise up spiritual angels to fight this battle on our behalf. It is getting complicated to do anything because of things that are suggested or given to us as solutions.
But we know behind them is an agenda to make humanity subscribe to a different God. So we come against it in the name of Jesus. Help us as parents to mitigate these situations through wisdom and understanding and knowledge.
We know the people behind this, they are all after money and we know it is the root of evil. So I pray, Lord that may you help this generation to deal with this splurge that is plaguing our nations and our world.
Turn their hearts towards you. May they fill you and have a greater understanding of who you are, to know there is much more better things in life than being on a computer or a television. Help our children, help this lost generation in the name of Jesus.
We come against addictions to screens and addictions to feeling left out and missing out. That made this spirit not plague our children in the name of Jesus. We send angels on assignment to derail the plan of the enemy.
Pray for obedience and responsibility in our children to take care of their physical and spiritual bodies. Help us as parents with wisdom to guide them in the things they shall be so that as they continue to matriculate that the Kingdom is in their hearts and is in their hands in the name of Jesus.
We pray as they go back to school for an accident free school year. Come against injuries as they run around and play different kinds of sports, we pray for good friends that have great attitudes towards the things of God.
We pray for teachers that may you continue to raise up teachers that care about spiritual things. We know the different agendas that are being thrown by grown men, for whatever reason.
We come against them. And we pray, Lord, that may the education system in this country be revamped by people, by men and women who care about spiritual things. We cut away every agenda that seeks to infiltrate and contaminated the minds of these young people.
So I pray, Lord as our kids return to school that this will be an incredible phenomenal year where they will discover themselves in the Lord, where they will have a greater understanding of the world around them, where they will meet loving teachers, loving friends in the name of Jesus.
We send angels on assignment this year we send angels on assignment to God and protect every school. We bind the spirit of school shooting that may this year be free of any school shooting in the name of Jesus.
We are sick and tired of this spirit and God we send angels on us and we call on Michael himself to guide and protect to send the angels on assignment to guide and protect every school from any kind of school shooting.
Help those who are dealing with mental issues or emotional issues, to find the help they need. So that their decisions will not devastate parents or cut short the future that you have for our children.
We come against it in the name of Jesus. Help parents help teachers to see the threat of emotional abuse in children. So that we can be a solution to the problems that exist. We pray in the name of Jesus.
Help legislators, men and women who sit down to make laws. Give them compassionate hearts and minds to not love money and forfeit the right to protect our children. We pray for lobbyists. That Father, may you give them an opportunity to repent from agendas, they seek to infiltrate our children so that they can benefit.
Give them a heart to repent and Lord, we are asking that if they choose not to may you execute judgment on them in the name of Jesus. We are tired of kids dying in schools because of gun violence.
I pray, Lord, that you raise men and women who care about spiritual things that will be in places of influence so that if there are things that can be changed by men's hearts that they will be changed. As we are driving, we pray for accident free school year.
Where no one would die prematurely because of a car accident. Help our children to focus in the name of Jesus. We bless parents, we bless teachers, we thank you for an incredible, phenomenal summer.
We thank you for protecting us from harm and danger. We thank you, Lord, for protecting our children And now Lord, as we release them back into the world, may they be ambassadors for Christ.
May the Holy Spirit guide them in every decision they make. Father, give them wisdom and understanding of spiritual things above everything else they will ever learn. May they ask the right questions In the name of Jesus.
Father, I pray that goodness and mercy will follow them for the rest of their days. And I pray for us parents as we navigate this world and try to help them in the things they are doing that God give us wisdom and give us understanding of what it is you're calling them to be.
So that we can train them up in the things they shall be. So that when they are older, they will never depart from them. Blessed grandchildren, blessed nieces and nephews, bless cousins in the name of Jesus, every single gift and person accounted for.
We pray, Lord, that this blessing of Abraham, who sits upon their lives, that they will be blessed because of this man who worked faithfully and blamelessly before you. And we pray, Lord, that this is for them to keep and to accept and to walk in.
So we bless them with the blessing of Abraham in the name of Jesus, we bless families who bless parents who bless mothers, fathers, wives, husband, everybody accounted for, we bless the works of our hands.
We bless the works of the one who send us, we blessed for the opportunities that we receive, that God may we walk in them and execute that which of quarters to execute so that somebody somewhere gets to believe in you.
We know you're soon to come and we want to be found in the right place and in right, standing with you. Help us as a people, to be ambassadors of Christ so that this Kingdom will continue to grow in all things right and in all things true.
As we go throughout this day bless all of us in everything that we are going to do today. We bless, bless the things that we want to do for our children today in preparation for school. For those who are shopping around, bless them.
Father I pray for finances that God help us in the areas where we are lacking and we’ll forever be grateful. Now lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For thine is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever and ever, Amen.
Brothers and sisters you are blessed because one man centuries ago walked faithfully and blameless before God and God bound himself so that you and I in 2025 will walk in this blessing and enjoy it because it is ours.
Remember that when things are tough that I am blessed because of Abraham's faithfulness. May the Lord bless you today as you go about your business and we will see you tomorrow morning.
