Thus Says The Lord-Who God Says He Is, His Commandments and Promises
"Genesis 12:1-3 - Get Out From Your Family And From Your Father's House, To A Land I will Show You."
A wonderful morning to you, everybody. I pray that you had a wonderful night, well rested and you are ready for another day and I also hope that you had a great weekend. Well today we are going to Luke.
It's one of the most incredible, phenomenal instruction that God gave one man we are in Genesis 12:1-3, now the Lord had said to Abraham. Get out of your country, from your family and from your father's house to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation.
I will bless you and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you and I will curse him who curses you. And in you all the families of the Earth shall be blessed.
In you all the families on Earth shall be blessed. I want to painted a little picture here. And you know, usually the length in which we interpret Scripture. Most times the reference point is the things that we know or that we can associate what's being said with.
So, if we are to read this, you know automatically you probably think Abraham leaving the United States and going to another country and making life out of it. But when you think about the time in which this scripture or this instruction is given to Abraham.
He is living in an era where there is no planes. There is no Internet, there is no street lights, there is no, there's absolutely this is an uncivilized world than what we know. So which means going to another place.
That means you will probably have to walk. And if you go to another country, definitely we're going to speak another language and you're going to rely on spiritual insight and even God directing your path because there was no GPS.
There was number maps so God does not tell him what country says I will show you when you decide to go. And one of the reasons why God kind of tell us things when we make the decision to go is because if we know all the details before we do, before he asks us.
There's a likelihood that we will be 1 comfortable, 2 we want to use our faith. But if God asks you, I need you to do certain things. Most times you wait for you to say yes or to get up.
And then when you start walking towards whatever it is that he has asked you to do. That's when he starts guiding you. My grandfather used to put it this way. Do not ask God to order or to guide your steps if you are not moving.
Because the requirement is that you start moving and then our guide you, I'm not going to guide you because his word, right the Scripture says this his word is a lamp unto thy feet.
That means his word is a light to a person who makes this decision to walk. That's why it's called the Walk of faith, because you have to walk, you have to get up and go. So God is speaking to a man who does not have a reference point of who God is.
He lives in a Pagan nation. Because where Abraham is and was from is present day Iran, Persia, that’s where Abraham is from present day Iran, sorry Iran. That's where he's coming from.
So he does not have a reference point of where he is being sent to, who he will need what will happen, but this man decides out of his own accord. That yeah, I am going to follow these directions out of obedience and see where God leaves me.
And because of that, God's reply to his obedience was that from now onwards I'm going to bless anybody who blesses you. Then I'm going to bless every family in the world that will ever come is going to receive a blessing because of your decision to get up and go to a place you have 0 reference point for.
And Abraham gets up and he follows the leading and the instruction of the Lord. And out of that belief we are all gathering this morning in faith because it’s part of the promise that God gave Abraham. That all families of all nations.
Now think about this statement. When you say when God says all families, he's talking about every single family of believers that come to Christ that acknowledge him. All families of all nations.
Now, how many families you could possibly find in the United States alone. That the whole entire world. So the obedience that Abraham shows us here is unbelievably remarkable to do things that you don't have any reference point for.
And out of that we get the blessing of our faith as believers. Brothers and sisters the call of salvation pretty much mirrors Abraham's call out of Earth. Most times, when God brings us into the fold we don't know what we will be doing. We don't know what he has in store for us.
I am sure all of us who can hear me right now or who have participated in leading prayer, I'm sure the day you got saved not once we ever thought oh one day or the day that you were getting saved.
I'm sure you didn't think one day Oh, I'm going to be on a prayer group with some people from all over the country and some from Africa, and we're going to be fellowshipping in the Lord together. I believe the Lord never said any that of that to anyone of us.
But our belief and trust in him allowed God and his words to guide and to order our steps. To where now we can gather in fellowship without anyone calling anyone to see and to check if you are calling in or if you are available.
But the fact that now we can, it sounds very easy and automatic because we've been doing it for a little bit now. But when you actually think about it. It's one of the most remarkable things that in your spirit, there is trust that when I get up in the morning.
I will call this number and when I do the same people that I had yesterday or last week, they are going to be there doing the exact same thing that I am doing and we are all doing this with our personal instructions of what to do any particular morning but rather following the leading of God's voice.
And that, my friend is remarkable. And it's a complete total trust in God, and that pleases God. So when you hear the scipture faith without works is dead or it's impossible to please God without faith. Without obedience to the things that God is instructing us to do.
We might never get to see and to understand what it is that is trying to get us to see. If Abraham, he could have said, Lord, I am not going and I'm sure God would not have fought him, he will just say, ok.
But his decision to go triggers something that will forever bless every family and that will ever work in this world. That’s the power of obedience, that’s the power of hearing God's voice and that's the power of executing God's word.
Because when you execute God's word, it automatically becomes a lamp to your feet. And it enables you to see where you are stepping. That's how powerful God's word is. So in other words if you don't have insight of what God is trying to do.
You ought to either read scriptures or start walking so that his word becomes a light. If you don't know what to do, read the Scriptures and his word becomes a light to where you are stepping.
That's who Abraham was. He was a man of tremendous obedience. He mastered obeying God. And out of that we get a blessing. That every family on Earth will forever enjoy, that's remarkable. That one means obedience and trust in the Lord and not lean into his own understanding and in all these ways, to acknowledge the Lord.
May God make Abrahams path straight. And that, my friends that's what ministry is. Obeying the Lord and walking in the footsteps that he is ordering you to, but using his word as a lamp to your feet. It leads you to gain access to a wonderful richer life that nobody can ever take away from you.
No matter what would have happened to Abraham after this day, no one was ever going to take away from Abraham God's promises and we all want to be blessed. But obedience and following God’s instruction is so important. Because it allows you to not just find blessing for yourself, but to find blessing for others too.
Is it amazing or wouldn't be incredibly amazing if God’s instructions to us will gain and give us access that will bless our children and our children's children. That would be remarkable.
That out of your obedience generations that are coming behind will find a blessing waiting for them before they even step foot into this world because of your obedience.
That's who Abraham was. He followed the leading of God. That what he is doing is something that was never and it had never been done before. The whole entire world but the man left and followed a voice of God. And now he becomes the Father of faith.
So the key lesson is following God's obedience and the ability to leave things that hold us back. That's why God asked Abraham to leave. Because he is living in a Pagan nation, they don't worship God.
They have different ways of thinking and doing, but God was trying to form something new. That had never been seen and he needed a person who was willing to obey. That's why he is called the father of our faith.
So I want you and I to think about what is my obedience and my living going to bring for you, your family, your grandchildren and nieces and nephews. What are they going to find as the fruit out of your obedience.
Are they going to find that surely the God that my grandfather, the God that my aunt or the God that my sister or the God that my cousin or my friend serves, is unbelievably faithful. Look at what he has done with Dorothy.
Look at what he has done with Veronica. Look at what he has done with Calvin. Look, it was done with anyone who has chosen to leave a comfortable place and allowed God to direct and to order your steps to a place you have no idea.
What's going to look like? No idea. But spiritual influences guiding all of us and out of our decisions and out of our love for God and leading of the Holy Spirit. 10 years from now, we can look back and see how many families that will be blessed because of our obedience.
So the keyword for today, obedience and start journey if you want God to show you. In order to lead you in the right path. Do not forget you cannot ask God to guide you if you are not moving.
Better walk the journey and then allow him to guide you, Amen. Let us pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you for what you have done and what is still going to do, we stand here because of Abraham's faith.
And we know there are so many people coming behind us that will find a pathway of faith that has already been curved and that will also make their journey easy, because somebody has already gone through.
I thank you for every family represented here. That will receive a blessing from thy Lord. Because of who is here in the midst of the congregation. Bless everyone with this skill of obedience and execution.
Thank you for equipping us and giving us strength to be that which you have called us to become. Now I ask you, Lord that as we go through this day continue to bless us mightily as we enjoy the spirit of faithfulness that comes with the blessing of Abraham.
So we are blessed because of his obedience and we intend the Lord to enjoy the fruits of Abraham's obedience. And Father teach us his ways, teach us the ways of our patriarchs. So that we can become better and greater than them.
Now I ask you to start this week to bless us and everything that we do. With new ideas, with new ways of doing things. With the ability to understand Scripture. We pray for our children as they walk towards the start of school again.
That will this be a blessing., a blessed 2025 school year. And we pray, Lord that may you lead them when you ask them in their quiet times to join you in faith in the things that you desire to do.
Now, as we go throughout this day continue to teach us your ways. Lead us not into temptation, but to deliver us from the evil one, for thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory forever and ever, Amen.
Brothers and sisters, may the Lord bless you. May the Lord bless you children. May the Lord bless everything that you are doing in his name. We thank God for this family of faithful people that you will find ourselves part of.
Now as you order our steps may God gives you the wisdom to follow through on these instructions so that we can receive and walk in the blessing that God has. Have a wonderful day and have an incredible phenomenal week and we will see you tomorrow morning in Jesus name, Amen.
