"Waiting On The Holy Spirit - Getting Our Hearts Ready for Pentecost"
"The Holy Spirit And The Building Of The Tabernacle"
Good morning, family. Welcome to the Prayer Works Morning Devotion. Praise God for this day. Thank you, Father as we come before you, throughout this day to give you praise, honor and glory because you alone are worthy.
Family, we come together this day as we are looking at Pentecost Sunday. And as we prepare our hearts for Pentecost Sunday, we're going to be examining how the Holy Spirit has been an integral part of God's plan for creation down to the current day.
But before we do that, let's go to the throne of grace. Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you this day to give you thanks for this day, for waking us up to this new day that you've provided with new grace and new mercies, which we claim and are glad and will rejoice in.
Thank you, Father for allowing us to exercise strength and being able to get up out of the bed this morning on our own two feet and walk about freely. Father, thank you for the help that you've provided us.
Thank you for us most of all your Holy Spirit that leads us in our thanks. Father we are praying this day for your love and for your purpose and for your will to be done on earth as it is in Earth.
Father as we go through this morning's devotion I pray that the meditations of my heart and the words of my mouth are acceptable to you Oh, Lord, my Lord. I pray for all that what I will say is from you and if it is not please stop me from saying it.
Father I ask that your will be done and I pray that as we are on this call, your spirit will descend and cover this call and open the hearts and minds of all of those that are on this call to hear your words as you would like them to be spoken.
So Father as we go forth now, we pray your spirit take control of this call move me aside and allow your work to be done in Jesus name, we pray, Amen. One of the last things that Jesus told the disciples before his ascension at the end of Luke Chapter 24 was this.
I am going to send you what my Father has promised, but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high. We know that that power is the Holy Spirit the helper as Jesus referenced.
Today's verses are coming from the Old Testament, however in Exodus 31: 3-5 and it reads and I have filled him with the spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge and in all manner of workmanship to design artistic works to work in gold and silver and bronze and cutting jewels for setting in carving wood.
And to work in all manner of workmanship. Yesterday while we're on the call, Pastor Zee talked about creation from versus of one and two of the Book of Genesis. And how God's Holy Spirit was present.
How the earth was without form and void and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. This shows us that God's spirit is always present or ever present.
We can say then, that without the presence of God's spirit, based on what we see from these verses there is no form. Darkness exists, there is no light. There is a void that can't be filled except by God's Holy Spirit.
The body, for example, without the spirit is dead. It is void of life, no light so everything on the face of the Earth needs the life giving force that only comes from God's life giving spirit. In addition to the life giving properties of God's Holy Spirit.
Gifts are given to us through the spirit of God, as we see in the verses for today. God spoke to Moses in verses 1 and 2 of Exodus Chapter 31 and told him I have called by name Bezalel, the son of Uri of Ur, of the tribe of Judah.
Now, why did God call on Bezalel? Well, this was to aid in the construction of the Tabernacle, the Holy Tent where God would dwell in the midst of his people. Many craftsmen would be needed for this work.
God tells Moses that he had given many men the skills they would need to bring his plans for the Tabernacle to fruition.
Two of these men God mentions by name Bezalel, from the tribe of Judah and Oholiab from the tribe of Dan. Bezalel was filled with God's spirit, doing Old Testament times, and that was a rare occurrence.
God's spirit empowered Bezalel and Holy AB with talent and intelligence, giving them the ability to work in every kind of crafting just imagine.
It says and I have filled him with the spirit of God and wisdom and understanding and knowledge and in all manner of workmanship to design artistic works.
To work in gold and silver and bronze in cutting jewels for setting and carving wood and to work in all manner of workmanship. Just think about that. That having this gift of God's Holy Spirit could enable us to have this level of ability for the purpose of completing God's will.
This is what God's Holy Spirit can do in us. I have a few scriptures that I'm going to reference here, so just bear along with me and if you are able to write down these scriptures and research them later, that's also a good idea.
If not once this devotion is finished it will be uploaded and you can go back and listen and check these scriptures yourself. So as we go along here we know that the spirit of God was present and involved in creation as we learned yesterday.
In Psalms 33:6 it says by the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all the hosts of them by the breath of his mouth. We know, for example, in the Garden of Eden, when God created Adam, he blew into his nostrils and by this scripture says he became a living soul.
The Holy Spirit also moved the prophets of God with the words of God. And 2 Peter 1:21 it says, For prophecy never came by the will of man but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
1st Corinthians 6:19 says. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God and you are not your own?
Here we can see that as believers the Holy Spirit is in us, that we are a temple for him to reside in. Acts 5, we learn when Ananias lied about the price of a piece of property.
Peter said that Satan had filled anonymized his heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and ended by saying that Ananias had lied to God in verse 4. In this verse, Peter reveals that the Holy Spirit is God. Lying to the Holy Spirit is in fact lying to God.
Not something that we as believers should do. Our verse for today would seem to be a precursor to Jesus sending the helper to teach us and remind us that he is ever present in our lives.
Jesus told the disciples that the Holy Spirit, the helper, was different from himself. The Father would send the helper the spirit of truth after Christ departed. The spirit would speak through the disciples about Jesus as mentioned in the book of John, and I'll read a few of these just so that they're into your hearing.
We can go back, you can go back over them later on in your quiet. John 14: 25-26 from the ESV says these things I've spoken to you while I am still View But the helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach All things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
Chapter 15, verse 26 to 27 says, but when the helper comes whom I will send to you from the Father, the spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me and you will bear witness because you have been with me from the beginning.
And finally, John 16:7-15, Nevertheless, I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away for if I do not go away, the helper will not come to you.
But if I go away, I will send him to you and when he comes he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment. Because they do not believe in me concerning righteousness.
Righteousness because I go to the father and you will see me no longer than concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
So who is the Holy Spirit? as we prepare for Pentecost Sunday, we should be able to answer this question. The Bible describes the Holy Spirit as a person, not a mere force, as some in the world tend to believe. But can be as stated in Ephesians 4, verse 30.
He has a will which is also mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12:4- 7. He uses his mind to search the deep things of God as mentioned in 1 Corinthians 2:10. And he has fellowship with believers.
Also in 2nd Corinthians 13:14. So clearly the Holy Spirit is a person. Just as the Father and the Son are persons. The Holy Spirit is in fact God, just as Jesus Christ and the Father are God.
So from our verses today we see that God can provide his spirit to us anytime for his purpose and completion of tasks that he wants us to carry out. We should not fear or worry that we are not capable of carrying out God's will.
Only be willing to be used by God for his purpose. We can see from the verses today that the Holy Spirit is very capable of bestowing the necessary gifts to do the work that God requires of us.
Moses by example doubted his ability to do the work that God was asking him to carry. But God provided his spirit, and even when we fall short, God will still provide his spirit to help us complete the task if we are humble and walk in repentance.
The disciples received power of the Holy Spirit along with many others on the day of Pentecost, and by the power of the Holy Spirit were able to witness for Jesus over 2000 years ago so that we today can understand the existence of his power and depend on it to teach, preach and witness for Jesus and the Kingdom.
The very power that is not only in us, but on us to do the will of the father through Jesus our Lord. If God calls you today to do his work for his purpose remember, he will provide his spirit to prepare, instruct, guide, and encourage us to the completion of the task he has set before us.
Do not fear just trust that God will see you through. Let him be our guide, our preparer of the way rather are encouraged today as we navigate this world for the glory of Jesus our Lord.
As Pastor Zee brought out yesterday, the Holy Spirit was able to cover the entire earth at once in creation what can't he do for us? Let us pray. Heavenly Father, we come before you again to thank you for the knowledge and wisdom that you provide that through your word you give us.
You lead us and you show us all things, and even through your Holy Spirit, which is in us and on us to do the work that you've said before us to do Father. We are able to see you in all things every day, everywhere we go Father.
Your Holy Spirit leads us and protects us from the things in this world that are out to harm us. So, Father, we pray that as we go forth not only in this day but every day that we lean on this precious gift that you've given us Father.
Jesus is the precious gift that you gave to us over 2000 years ago, and in addition to Jesus, Jesus had promised that this spirit would come into the world and cover all believers and as your word shows.
This spirit lives not only in us, but is on us and fellowships with us. So, Father, we are praying that as we walk in the power and the might of your Holy Spirit, that we allow it to cover us with the peace that surpasses all understanding.
And that we ourselves, Father, will honor you and give you all the glory and all the honor Father that you so richly desire, we pray, Father this day now, for those that are on this call that may be ill or suffering from an addiction or a health concern.
Father, we pray for them and we ask that your Holy Spirit pour out on them and cover them. We pray for the blood of Jesus, while especially for those that might be in hospital right now, right where they are, Father, we are praying that you protect them and help them to recover according to your will from their lives Father.
We are praying Father especially for our loved ones, we are praying, especially for our children as we have dedicated them to you and we continue to lift them up to you, Father, because we know that you desire for all to be saved, all to become, or rather, come to repentance.
And so we know, Father, that by coming before you this way, each and every day and asking for your praise to fall upon us, leaning on you and lifting up those that cannot pray for themselves.
Father, that this pleases you because we know that you do not want to see any destroyer, but you want to see all come to repentance.
And so, Father, we are praying for your spirit. Now to be with those that can't pray for themselves or won't pray for themselves. And we ask you to cover them, too.
Touch their hearts and minds so that they too can come to a knowledge of who you are and worship you and feel the peace and the love that we as believers feel Father.
So now as we go forth in this day, lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one for yours is the Kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever, Amen.
Amen family, thank you for another wonderful day in the Lord and we pray that your day is blessed. Your day is graced and bathed in the love and protection of God through Holy Spirit. Have a wonderful day. Go in peace and know that we love you. God bless you.
