"Know The Names Of God"

We've been studying the names of God and the importance they have in our lives, and the overall gist of God's names is that he named himself for the problems that we will face in this life.

So every challenge, if you think about every challenge that your money will ever face, God named himself as such, so that when we call upon him, he then myths whatever challenge or circumstances that we find ourselves in. Hence the plethora of names.

But when you look at all those names, they kind of address the major significant issues and problems that humanity faces. That's why Scripture says, when you call on the name of the Lord, he will answer because out of his names we get solutions.

So I encourage you that let us get better at knowing all of God's names and to show us how important this is in Genesis, when everything was right between God and Adam, the scripture says Adam would name things and God would endorse.

So there was this relationship that they had where what God said Adam did what Adam said God endorsed it because there was no sin involved.

So when that relationship is tainted, we always say the Bible was written to address our way back to that original relationship. So when you see these names, they're coming out of the violation that Adam had made.

And in order to bring us back we find all these names in the scriptures, in order to get us back to the original state that's why Jesus, when you see his dying, he says now Father, as I come to you, glorify me and scripture says that when we die, we'll get glorified bodies.

Why? Because there will be a sense of purity that we have attained in order to get back to the presence of God. Hence, we had God's names, and then we also looked at the Lord's prayer.

Why the Lord's prayer was incredibly set and the doorway to all that, you'll get off the Lord's prayer was through God's names. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Then everything else that comes is seated on, or I could actually say the doorway to everything else in the Kingdom is through his name hence the idea of calling on his name.

Now, tomorrow we're going to start early morning devotion on the presence of God and when you call on God, he shows up when he comes, we get his presence. When we get his presence there's things that he comes with and bearing with and then there's things on our other side that we have to make sure that we abide by.

Because again as we look throughout this year, you realize the reason why God distanced himself or he moved his presence away from us in the 1st place was because of sin. Which meant originally, God's desire was that he be present.

Just like any father wants to be present for their children, God's desire was to be present. So Adam and Eve had intimate fellowship in the presence of God before the fall. Before Genesis Chapter 3:8, they had intimate presence where God shows up, they are in front of him, he is in front of them and they are exchanging ideas, right.

Then Genesis 3 happens. Adam and Eve had seen against God in direct disobedience to his command. They had eaten from the tree of knowledge of good and evil and the man and his wife hit themself from thee presence of God.

Now, why did they hide themselves from the presence of God because their eyes were opened to a whole world that was sinful and they realized the contrast between sin and God's presence cannot coexist thought they hid themselves away from his presence.

And then in response, God shut them out of the garden. In response of them hiding themselves from his presence. So which means that God's desire is for you and I to be in what? His presence.

If we hide ourselves from his presence, then he distance himself from us. And generally we will not hide ourselves from his presence if we haven't done anything. If you talk to anybody who doesn't believe in God.

Anytime you start talking about his presence they might debate you, but as the presence shows up they distance themselves away from and if there is one telltale sign as we interact, people where you really understand whether somebody is saved or not.

Is that when you interact, when you start getting deeper into the presence of anything that brings the presence of God. People automatically just back off or get out because it's the same thing that Adam and Eve did they hide.

And God says that's why the Scripture says draw near. So again, when you think about why the Bible was written, addressing us our way back, so now God says draw near to me and I will draw near to you.

If you hide from me, I would distance myself from you. So draw near and I will draw near to you in other words. If you long for my presence, then I will come because I love that. So sin has prevented our ability to be in the physical presence of God.

Because remember, Adam and Eve have a physical presence. This is not spiritual, this is physical sin enters the sin, God distance himself and that is what prevented human beings from being in the presence of God.

This is one of the reasons why we can see spiritual things. Everybody has an angel, the reason why we can't see it is not because we don't desire to see it, or because it's not present is because of what took place in Genesis, where we became blind.

So sin prevented us God meet Moses. Moses says it says come near and says you cannot see my face and live. Why? Because now you are in a state as a human, as a human species where you can't see my face and stay alert.

That's why if we are going to see God, we have to do what, we have to die. So he's telling Moses you can't see my face lest you die because they're prerequisite now of being in God's physical presence is that this sinful body, this sinful nature has to die so that this spirit arises without the body.

So we can get in front of God. So now only right now is we are live only the holy, sinless angels are in the physical presence of God. Luke 1:19. This is Michael, no, no this is Gabriel addressing Mary, right. And the Angel answered him, answer him.

I am Gabriel, I stand in the presence of God and I was sent to speak to you to bring you this good news. Why cause the angels their spiritual beings, hence they can see God. So we are trying to get back to our spirituality so we can see God.

So now when we really start talking about the presence of God because I want us to kind of really define this so when we get into it, we have a really an awareness of what we're talking about God is everywhere, his omnipresent means.

He is present everywhere simultaneously in New York right now at Nadia's house over here in Mississippi, he is present. This is a foundational character and aspect of God's nature. That he is everywhere.

You cannot hide from him. You cannot run away from him. He cannot go anywhere where he is not bad, even though God is everywhere, his presence is not always experienced in the same way even though he is everywhere.

His presence cannot be experienced in the same way this is how remarkable God is that you can go to a church where they're singing about God and they're having a good time in there. You can go to a church down the road and the Holy Spirit is so strong.

People are on the floor on the same block of street people are having a different experience. Because there is something about him that is drawn to a heart that is desperate or a longing for his presence.

So when we started church service God is there. Might it to serve but for a people who are desperate and hungry for his presence, they'll have a different experience and it might be in the same church.

One person on the corner, there is screaming and another one on the corner he's got his arms folded, wondering what is going on because the difference between the two is the longingness of his presence.

So God manifests, refers to specific God's manifest presence with space to specific times and places where he chooses to reveal himself in a more tangible way. Jesus is seen as the outward manifestation of God's presence.

John 1:14, God's manifest presence is also connected to the Holy Spirit, who dwells within believers. Romans 8:9, this indwelling presence is often described as a source of power, guidance, comfort.

In essence, the Bible teaches us that God is always present, but he also chooses to reveal himself in unique and powerful ways throughout history to believers for whatever reason. Jacob wakes up from his dream.

He says surely the presence of God was here and I did not know it. So his presence is what we desperately not need long. What we need to long for because again, right, if you always go back to the Garden of Eden, you have a clear understanding of this.

Every day there is this relationship that exists between Adam and Eve and God, where he appears before them every single day. So they get to see the glory, you know, all that what we experience in church, what we experienced on Pentecost Sunday.

That was a daily occurrence, every hour, every moment was like that. Sin happens God, they hide from God he distance himself and the scriptures were written to address our behavior from sin to life, from death to life.

So we are being drawn back to that's the idea behind God's presence that he is constantly drawing us back to that place. Where he longs for that intimate relationship with him. So when the scripture says draw near to me and I will draw near to you.

In other words, don't hide like Adam and Eve and if you do that, I will come and draw near to you. So we experienced God's presence because it's a promise, I'll never leave you nor forsake you. It's a promise and God upholds his promises.

We experience God's presence because it's part of our practice. Think about it, we are practicing one day to be in his presence forevermore. So every day that we encounter the Lord in different arenas, we are we are learning what shall become of us in his presence.

So his presence comes to work in us the things that he needs to get out of us. So that when the day comes we are pure before him back to original state Genesis 2. So we have to long for and that longing is what draws him.

Now I'm sure all of us can attest to this, that before you really kind of got serious with church. You it was kind of like, yeah, you know then it seems now that every day, the more you get into it, the more hungry you become.

Isn't it amazing that the more the more you study scripture, the more you worship the more hungry spiritually you become because your soul is now identifying with that original state and realizing not, I can't live without this.

Realizing that this is all that is there for me to live for. Remember, I always said there's 3 levels of surrender. First one oh, I didn't know I need this. Second one Oh my God, I cannot live without this.

The third one, I'm only here to experience the love of the Father to do his will. Again, if you look at the Scriptures, our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Why is that prayer structured in that way because his will was not being done on Earth and part of his will is intimate relationship and presence with his children. That's why presence is so important, because we're going to see when we start reading all these scriptures about his presence.

It's a way of him working in us the things that needs to be gone so that ultimately ultimately we get to be in his presence forevermore. Let's look at some scriptures, Psalm 16:11 says you make known to me.

The path of life in your presence, there is fullness of joy at your right hand, our pleasures forevermore. Now think about what's being said, he is says you make known to me, the path of life.

God makes known to us the, in other words, he reveals to us the path of life. Then it says in your presence there is fullness, so once you find the path to life, you then find what presence and in his presence there is fullness of joy and it's your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Then we know Exodus 33:14, Moses says now, I want you to think about Moses his first encounter with God. God tells him this is me. You cannot see my face and live, then he tells him how here's the plan.

I want you to go to Egypt this is what I want you to do and now they're back on the journey. Everything is going on the way that God is wanting them to go and Moses now, after he had tested that, he comes to this junction where he says man.

After what I experience, I'm not going anywhere God, I'm not moving until if your presence is not with us, if what took place over there is not here, I'm not going. This is why a lot of people nowadays are so frustrated with church because they experienced something before and they can't seem to find it anymore.

Acts 3:20-21, the times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord and that he may send Christ appointed for you Jesus, whom heaven must receive. This is right after Jesus died until the time of restoring all the things about which God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago.

In other words this is happening so that times of refreshing so God's presence bring refreshing refreshment. We are refreshed in his presence in other words, we are made anew again. Remember, God is trying to bring us back, where original state, right. So refreshment means that we are being made and new.

In other words, I'm trying to as my presence show up every day, I'm trying to remove things in you slowly and surely so that you are made new that's why the scripture says anybody who is in Christ is a new what creation, that's what his presence do for us.

He makes us new. Jeremiah 29:13 we know this one. You will seek me and find me. When you seek me with all your heart. In other words, we have to be intentional in longing and desiring for his presence inasmuch as the opposite of that is true, right?

That's what Adam and Eve did. What did they do, they hid. So now God says we have to be intentional seeking my presence. Matthew 5:8 we know this one, blessed are the pure in heart and we have looked at the heart, I think about two years ago, it says the heart is what the intent of a thing, your intent.

So blessed are the pure in intent, for they shall see God. Hebrews 4:16 let us then, with confidence drawn near to the throne of grace that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in the time of need.

That's one of the reasons why we need the longing of his presence because when we draw in confidence. What happened in the garden Adam and Eve lost confidence. So now the scripture is telling us that we have to gain confidence to draw near to the throne of grace that we may receive.

So in order to receive mercy, you have to long fall, his presence Hebrew 13:5, keep your life free from love of money and be content with what you have for he has said I will never leave you, nor forsake you.

Did you guys know that this scripture was joined with money? We say this alone God says I'll never leave you for a sake you, keep your life free from. So in other words, in order for God to never leave us nor forsake us, there's one thing that we have to keep our lives free from love of money.

Why love of money? Because the scripture tells us it is the root of all evil. So in other words, keep your life free from the root of all evil and when you do that be content with what you have for, he said I will never leave you nor forsake you.

Psalms 25:4, make me to know your ways oh Lord, teach me your path. Lead me in your truth and teach me for you are the God of my salvation, for I wait all day long. Showing us our posture for his presence, God awaited for all day long. Isiah 64:1-3 all that you would render the heavens and come down.

That the mountains might quack at your presence as when fire kindles brushwood and the fire causes water to boil to make your name known to your adversaries, and that the nations might tremble, tremble at your present.

When you did awesome things that we did not look for, you came down. The mountains quacked at your presence. Now we are now seeing what happens in his presence that all these issues that we are facing.

If we long for his presence, the scripture is telling us that all nations will pack. So our solutions to problems that we see is as longing for his presence, cause then when his presence shows up, he's telling us that evil people who quack.

Hebrews 9:24 for Christ has entered, not into holy places made with henge which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.

2 Timothy 4:1, I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus. Who is to judge the living and the dead and by his appearing and his Kingdom. So in other words, he was like I'm going to charge you in the presence of God.

I'm not doing this outside of, the problem with 21st century change is that we do it outside of instead of being in his presence. Because again, anytime you do anything or you reprimand anybody or you have a correct, correct, anybody in the presence.

What comes out of it is joy cause in the presence of God there is fullness of joy and it is right hand there are pleasures forevermore but if you reprimand the person upside of his presence. What you get back is resentment and everything else that is negative.

But if you do, it in the presence it brings fullness of joy, John 1:14 and the Word of God became flesh. The word of God became flesh and they dwelled amongst us and we have seen his glory as of the son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

And Faith was completed by his works and the scriptures fulfilled that says Abraham believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness. And he was called a friend of God. You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.

God’s desire of what was lost is that he had to send Christ as a word to become flesh so that he can appear to us in presence. Now I want you to imagine about this God distance himself in Genesis.

But his love for you and I causes him to send his son so he can appear before us in his presence. We were hiding. It's like, you know, Jesus, go find them and appear on them in my presence and then still yet we denied him.

And then still, yet, he says alright, come back. Let's send the Holy Spirit. Just for the desire to for us to be in his presence. Brothers and sisters we have to have a longing for God's presence.

I know this is no longer being taught, you can't find people teaching about God's presence and people are not even thinking about God's presence. I was having a conversation there about Bishop Tudor was talking about why 21st century songwriters and no longer about God's presence.

Says because we need Jesus in his word and scriptures in the songs. So that they when we are singing, we are calling on his presence 20 minutes singing the same lyric, no presence.

We have to long for this, we really have to long for this. Every time you pray, every time you sing, every time you worshipping in your own house you got to long for his presence because the scripture says draw near.

It's not dependent on him. He is everywhere anyway, so it's not like he has to do something but he says with if you long if you draw. If you draw near to me, then I will make myself visibly strong wherever you are because you are not hiding like Adam and Eve.

So as we start tomorrow and we're looking at his presence. We want to make this a habit. It's part of our culture, by the way. It's not even part making it a habit. It's part of the Kingdom culture.

So when Jesus tells the woman at the well, the time has come. This is it, the time has come that you want to worship God over the world spirit and truth that's presence. So that was activated 2000 years ago and it still stands today.

It hasn't changed. One of the reasons why people no longer long for his presence is because when he shows up everything that you hold on to has to go and people still want to hold on.

Again, when you look at the scriptures, they explain to you the stories in the Bible explain to you the attitude and character of humanity Lot, holding on attitude and character to humor is not just a story. It the reason it's in the Bible.

God is showing us humanity is character. So we have to long for we have to long for where you want to feel him, you want to touch him. You wanna smell him, you want to know he's here now.

This you know when I was looking at this earlier on in the morning I was like, it's sad that this has become like distant memory, when we start talking about men, church used to be oh, you know what happened in 1990 like somehow it's no longer a thing.

So presence is important and we need God's presence. We need to long for it because he's everywhere. He's just saying if you want me to show up, really in a very tangible way draw near and I’ll drawn near to you, so this is a person who is already present everywhere and is saying draw near and I'll draw near to you.

So as we start tomorrow, my prayer is that in our morning devotions, let's experience his presence. That's long for it. Let's long for it. Let's practice it because that's our ultimate destination, right.

So let's practice it. Let's practice and you know to show you that we all need this. You know how many times people in worship would try to conjure up? You know all the stuff that you see people trying to do, smoke machines, soft music and try to prolong it is because we don't know how to desire for it anymore.

So we try to manufacture it and God just stands and watch and wait because he's like, all right, that's more in your head. Do it in your heart because the scriptures we talked about the heart longing for and when we long for God he is going to show up.

I promise you, because it's in his word. He's not lying that when you draw me, I'm coming, I'll show up. But we're just we're just not desiring it.

Not that we don't want it. We just not desire intent. Intent is the heart, right? That's why you see his presence and heart go together. It's not his presence and your head. It's the presence anf your heart over here intention.

So let's develop intent like Lord, I wanna feel you. I want to touch you again, I remember so vividly and this is like an iconic moment in my life. Seven years old, my mother takes me to a prayer meeting and I'm like, why am I going.

Everybody else is staying home like that? Yeah, not you. I need somebody to work with to the church. I need a man, I'm like I'm seven that you are coming. We get to the church, she puts a blanket underneath the bench.

And it's like 9:00 PM by then, it's an all night prayer and she lays it over there a little mad. She's like, yeah now sleep over here and I went to bed. I'm laying on the floor. I'm like I should. Why? Don't we just sleep at home, instead of coming to and sleep on underneath this bench.

And the prayer meeting is going on and of course I fell asleep. I think 3:00 AM I'm like, why is the building shaking? I'm in my sleep, I'm like, why is the building shaking? I wake up from my slumber and I look, I roll out of underneath the bench.

This is 1990 something. There is no smoke machines then. All you could see is just mist a sprinkling and you could feel it on your hands. The Holy Spirit was so strong and people started just breaking out in tongues and I'm down there.

I'm breaking out in tongues. I don't know what's happened. It was so scary to me. That can’t be a memory. That can’t be a memory. Why not now? We got to long for it. That's where the answer is for his presence, longing for him. Cause that will cause you to draw near and he will draw near to you.

So we'll start early morning devotion different series on God's presence. We called on his names. Now we're going to desire his presence. So instructions from pastor Zee, when you get up in the morning and you get on the morning devotion.

Heart longing for God's presence. Your heart longing for God's presence. Because what we need now in this hour is for God to confirm some things. To put us at ease, to solve some problems for us because we are in his presence.

The scripture, we just read the scripture says when his presence shows up the mountains, the quiver we have done all the talking and the scripture in and telling people, Oh my God, this is what the word says.

Now what we need is presence and demonstration. Some people are not going to believe what we say. But they're going to believe his presence like, yeah, there's something different with this one. Like, I'm not arguing with you.

I'm just going to tell you what the Lord says. Remember I always say not all hallelujahs are the same, the Hallelujah with his presence, Amen. Deborah yes, Pastor Zee, how you doing?
