"Anointing"

O, good evening, everyone. Let me get this off the screen real quick. Ok, my topic is on anointing and I chose this topic because when I saw this selection, it just it just caught my eye. I know that God reveals things to us for a reason.

So I have to be honest when I say that I was not at all familiar with who the spirit Holy Spirit was, let alone what the anointing meant until a few years ago when I purchased the DVD and CD on this subject.

I probably became curious, but because of hearing a voice instructing me to do something in 2005, Now the voice was audible. That might seem strange to some people. I did hear it.

I could clearly hear man speaking to me, to which I replied I had many things to do and not enough time to do what I was instructed. Ok y'all, remember Jonah and all these people in the Bible. OK, well, the voice spoke again.

Not long after that. Maybe a day or two. So that may have piqued my curiosity because I needed to know who was speaking to me. I need to know if Jesus, God or whoever, but I could not answer.

But I went to a pastor. And I did not get the answer that I need. But I never stopped thinking about that voice. But I still cannot say that I understand anointing. However, because of this assignment, by the prayer works team.

I have become familiar with the one who anoints the one who anoints from what I learned through research on this topic of anointing, I have been so excited to keep learning and growing on this subject.

First of all, I came up with three words, anoint, anointing, and anointed, anointed and anointing. Anoint is a verb, which means to do something or to show action, for example, to smear, or to rub with oil, or to set apart for a special reason or a special purpose.

The word anointed, it is an adjective. Of course, we know that an adjective describes or now or a pronoun. For example, we're talking about something or someone becoming anointed, like the prayer works team is anointed.

So anointed describes someone or something that has been smeared with oil, as in the Old Testament. Whereas the New Testament we are referring to the Holy Spirit coming upon someone.

Then we have the word anointing. An example would be when God says I am annoying anointing so and so to preach, to teach, or to sing. Then that person would not be operating under their own power but under the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit.

Heavenly Father in your son Jesus name, we come before you today to touch on a subject so important that you had to create a book that would last until time eternity. So that one day somehow we will all study the scriptures.

And get to know Jesus, who told us of the person who would come to live on the inside of us, we thank you for this Bible study group where we can grow in the knowledge of the Almighty God, your Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit help me to know that these are not my words but your words today.

Help me to deliver a message that will resonate with me and the ones listening in Jesus name, I pray. I always got a  personal story, I know me. Let me start by sharing a personal story with you now that I am somewhat familiar with the Holy Spirit and the anointing.

When I was about 7 or 8 years old, my grandmother told me that I needed to get baptized. Let me tell you a little bit about the woman who started me on the journey of knowing who God and Jesus is. I never questioned her decisions because she is the one who taught me to pray and why I needed to pray.

So when she said I needed to be baptized, I said ok. Anyway, excuse me, that was no need to have a conversation with her, because when she spoke, she always did what she said. In our church, which was Pilgrim Home Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Cleophus Ware.

One Sunday I walked down those steps into the water where Reverend Ware and a Deacon was waiting for me along with my grandmother, who was standing at the top of the stairs holding a white towel, waiting for me to dry me off, what I remember were words spoken to me that said, do you accept Jesus as your Lord and savior? To which I probably said, yes.

I know that, I replied. In obedience to what I thought I should say after that, Reverend Ware said I now baptize you in the name of the father, the son and the Holy Spirit. Now that I'm familiar with how God works, how Jesus works and how the Holy Spirit works.

I believe my Heavenly Father used my grandmother at that time to bring the Holy Spirit into my life at a young age without personally knowning it. I had now accepted Jesus as my Lord and savior.

Anyone who believes in God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit know how important baptism is. Since I was young at that time and didn't, I realize was happening in my life, I would like to share what happened in the life of John and Luke 1 now I hope that this passage is not too long.

Like I explained to Veronica, I need to read all of this because even though we are familiar with the Bible, somebody might pick this message up and they may never have heard about John and Jesus, so bear with me.

I hope it's not too long. Ok, if it is, I'll just stop it. This is Luke's account. Ok, dear friend who loves God. Several biographies of Christ have already been written using their sources material.

The report circulating among us from the early disciples and early and other eyewitnesses. However, it occurred to me that it would be well to recheck all these accounts from first to. Class and after thorough investigation to pass this summary on to you, to reassure you of the truth of all you were taught.

My story begins with a Jewish priest, Zacharias, who lived when Herod was king of Judea. Zacharias was a member of the Abuja division of the Temple Service Corps. His wife Elizabeth was like himself a member of the priest tribe of the Jews, a descendant of Aaron. Zacharias and Elizabeth were godly folk.

careful to obey all the God's laws and spirit, as well as in letter, but they had no children, for Elizabeth was barren now they were both very old now one day. As Zachariah was going about his work in the temple.

For his division was on duty that week. The honor fell to him by Lot to enter the inner sanctuary and burned incense before the Lord. Meanwhile, a great crowd stood outside of the temple court, praying as they always did during that part of the service when the incense was being burned.

Zacharias was in the sanctuary when suddenly an Angel appeared. Standing at the right of the altar of Incense, Zachary was and terrified, but the Angel said, don't be afraid, Zacharias, for I have come to tell you that God has heard your prayer, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son and you are to name him John.

You will both have great joy and gladness at his birth, and many will rejoice with you, for he will be one of the Lord's great men. He must never touch wine or hard liquor, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from before his birth.

And he will persuade many a Jew to turn to the Lord his God. He will be a man of rugged spirit and power like Elijah, the prophet of oath, and he will precede the coming of the Messiah, preparing the people for his arrival. He will soften adults ears hearts to become like little children's.

And will change disobedient minds to the wisdom of faith. Ok, here's the interesting. Zachariah said to the Angel, but this is impossible, we know what's his name? Abraham and Sarah.

Ok, keep them in mind. But this is impossible. I am an old man now and my wife is also well along in years. Then the Angel said to Zacharias, I am Gabriel. I stand in the very presence of God.

It was he who sent me to you with the good news. And now, because you haven't believed me, you are to be stricken silent, unable to speak until the child is born for my words will certainly come true at the proper time.

Keep in mind everything that I'm saying is so important. We're talking about obedience. We're talking about promises. We're talking about prophecies. All of this, this. These are not just words.

Keep in mind what I'm what I'm reading to you here. That's why I want to read all of this. Meanwhile, the crowds outside were waiting for Zacharias to appear and wondered why he was taking so long.

When he finally came out, he couldn't speak to them, and they realized from his gestures that he must have seen a vision in the temple now, he stayed on at the temple for the remaining days of his temple duties and then returned home.

Soon afterwards Elizabeth, his wife, became pregnant and went into Seclusions for five months now, how kind is the Lord? She exclaimed. These are awesome people to take away my degree, disgrace of having no children.

Now here comes another miracle. The following month, God sent same Angel, Gabriel, because we know that Gabriel is a messenger Angel. He brings good news. The following month, God sent the Angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, to a Virgin Mary engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of King David.

Gabriel appeared to her and he said congratulations favorite lady, the Lord is with you. Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the Angel could mean, but don't be frightened again, he tells her because evidently they, they said, these angels are powerful beings, so it would frighten somebody.

I don't know if anybody ever encountered an Angel, but I have not. I have not done that. Don't be frightened Mary, the Angel told her for God has decided to wonderfully bless you very soon now you will become pregnant and have a baby boy.

And you are to name him Jesus. Keep in mind we're still talking about obedience. God sent Gabriel to give them a good message. But you gotta do what I say. He shall be very great and shall be called the son of God, and The Lord shall give him the throne of his ancestor David, and he shall reign over Israel forever and ever.

Mary asks the Angel, but how can I have a baby? I'm a virgin, the Angel replied the Holy Spirit shall come upon you and the power of God shall overshadow you. So the baby born to you will be utterly holy, the son of God.

Now, 6 months ago, the Angel told her that your cousin, your Aunt Elizabeth. I thought it was her cousin. But your Aunt Elizabeth, the barren one became pregnant in her old age. So he's showing her that hey, whatever God says will come to pass.

So we need to take note of how God has sent this our Angel to her to give her a message. So when we are encountered with an Angel and God gives us a message, we are to be obedient. We are to believe his promises will come true because we know as the scripture says He's a man that cannot lie.

Now, Mary says I am the Lord servant and I am willing to do whatever he wants. May everything you said come true, and then the Angel disappeared. Now I'm gonna skip down to where Mary, I mean Elizabeths he did name him John, just as just, just as the Angel Gabriel Extra instructed her.

But the people in her town they were trying to talk her out of, naming him John. They wanted him to be named Zacharias Junior probably, but she said they told her there's no one in the family.

So they asked the baby's father and he motioned for a piece of paper, and he wrote the name John. After that, he could speak. And you, my little son, shall be called the Prophet of the Glorious God, for you will prepare the way for the Messiah.

You will tell the people how to find salvation through forgiveness of their sin. And all of this will be called. The mercy of our God is very tender, and heavens done is about to break upon us.

The little boy greatly loved God, and when he grew up, he lived out his life in the wilderness until he began his public ministry. Ok, like I said, that's rather long.

But I wanted to make sure that I read all of that for people who are not familiar with the scriptures, we hope that there will be a lot of people that will come on to. Call and they can get the message of who John was. Now John identified himself by quoting Isaiah 43.

All four gospels attribute this quote to John John's ministry as we know was to proclaim the coming and Senate Kingdom. His baptism was to prepare for that Kingdom. Even Isaiah he said the voice of him that cry eth in the wilderness prepare you the will of the Lord.

Make straight in the desert a highway for thy God. Now Matthew details John the Baptist baptizing Jesus, including John's initial reluctance and Jesus insistence on fulfilling our righteousness.

To put this in some type of context, Matthew emphasizes that John baptism was a baptism of repentance and Jesus's baptism was a fulfillment of righteousness, marking the beginning of his public ministry. Let me read to you what it says from Matthew 3:13-17.

Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized there by John. John didn't want to do it. This is what Matthew wrote. This isn't proper, he said. I am the one who needs to be baptized by you, but Jesus said, please do it, for I must do all that is right.

So then John baptized him after his baptism as soon as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens will open up to him. And he saw the spirit of God coming down in the form of a dog and a FOID voice from Heaven said, this is my beloved son.

And I am wonderfully pleased with him. John the Baptist chose the Jordanian wilderness for his area of ministry. He wanted to separate himself and his message from the religious authorities in Jerusalem in a different wilderness.

The desert was a place where God had gathered his people from slavery in Egypt. I listened to a little bit of the service today from Brandon Love and he pointed out the wild Wilderness is a place of worship.

So I guess that's why God chose to send John to the wilderness rather than in a big city. John implied that there was nothing that he was nothing but a voice to speak for someone else, John said in effect, I am not the folk of the of this ministry.

John's role was to prepare the coming Messiah, so John went into the wilderness rather than the capital city of Jerusalem, to preach. The reason was that Israel as a nation was blind to true.

His call for the nation to be ready for the coming of the Messiah, had to be made where people could be objective in their thinking. Now our role in life is to direct attention, not to ourselves, so it gets easy to exaggerate our mission and ministry.

John the Baptist, he did not inflate who he was or what God called him to do. So we are merely a voice that speaks for Jesus.

Now these scriptures testify to the power of the Holy Spirit and the anointing that was placed upon John even before his birth, and his ability to tell the truth about the coming Messiah, who was the true anointed one.

Anointing whole significant biblical importance representing consecration, meaning being set aside for a specific purpose. Also, anointing means divine approval and empowerment for specific purposes.

In Exodus 29:7, it reads, take the anointing oil poured on his head and anoint him. This verse is part of the instructions for the consecration of Aaron and his sons as priests.

Ok, I'm going to skip down to first Samuel 16:3 now here we see the anointing of David by Samuel, accompanied by the empowering President of the Holy Spirit.

And here we're still talking about the anointing because the Holy Spirit is the one who anoints us. Ok, and this was. It wasn't something that I knew about, but I'm glad I do know. Now Acts 10:38 highlights how Jesus anointed with the Holy Spirit, went about doing good and healing the oppressed, and the anointing is not merely a historical practice.

But it's necessary for the life of the believer in the church today, and I wanted to stress this because we may go to church, we may worship and we may believe in God, we may believe in Jesus, but it's that third part of the Trinity that was just it just wasn't taught.

It's like it just went over everybody's head and that's why I said when I went to that pastor to tell him that I had heard a voice, I was expecting him to be able to just say, you know, Mary, I think that was the Holy Spirit speaking to you.

But he I didn't get what I needed. So I'm quite certain that a lot of us today, we don't know or we're not thoroughly familiar with the Holy Spirit and how it works, and that's not to belittle anybody.

I mean, you just don't hear people talk about it much. They talk about Jesus. They talk about, oh, I believe in God. I believe in Jesus. But you don't hear them talking because we weren't taught now.

In Psalms we read as we read a lot of scriptures that talk about anointing we hey we can quote scriptures but do we really know what the Holy Spirit's purpose is And I'm just going to go away from my notes for a minute because I want to dwell on this.

If God assigns you to and he gives us all gifts and talents and assignments. Yeah he gives us assignment. We may not obey them. We might. We might. They may go off our head, but he gives us assignment cause we're on Earth to do, like John, we're on Earth to be messengers.

To tell people about God and what is going on in this world today, I wish that all those people out there that are protesting would call on God and God would hear them. He would open up heaven and he will start to make a change.

But they're trying to make this one man do something. No call on the Holy Spirit reach out to him and tell him you know.

I'm going to tell you something and this ain't even in my notes I've been I've been going around and around with this. I know a lot of times when I ask God for something, he'll just do it, but a lot of times I keep struggling.

What is the right way to pray? Do I go to the Holy Spirit, talk to him, he take it to Jesus, Jesus, take it to God, or do we go to God in the name of Jesus? I just keep. I keep going around and around with this.

You know what I'm saying? So learning about the anointing, it is so important. It is very important that we know who the spirit is, who lives on the inside of us and Jesus told us, he told his disciples I have to go.

If I don't go, then the Holy Spirit will not come because we know when Jesus was on Earth, he walked as a man. He could only be in one place at one time. We know that the priests, when they were in the temple, they couldn't see everybody.

If you had a problem, you might have to wait a whole year to get seen. And Jesus did us a favor by dying on that cross and by going back to heaven to his Father taking his rightful place so that he could be our advocate and he could assist God in in solving our problems.

But we have somebody that lives with us day and night, night and day. And I hate it when I hear people say they're bored or I'm lonely because you're never alone because he said he would never leave you.

Ok, so that's why I'm saying that knowing who this third person is so important. We need to start talking about him more because a lot of people are hurting and they feel alone and they feel left out because they don't know that they have somebody on the inside of them that they can talk to.

He's got many names. He's the helper. He's the advocate. He's the guide. He's our leader. He's our teacher. And that's who I go to. And one of the messages that I have in here, I don't have it right now. But it just says you got something don't go out asking every.

Sorry go to the one that lives on the inside of you. Now if he sends you to that person, that's fine, but your first order of business is to talk to the one who is the closest to you. Ok, now I want to offer you some practical applications for the anointing, walking and anointing involves daily surrender to the holy spirits leading allowing his wisdom and power.

I want to emphasize those words. The Holy Spirit gives us power. He gives us everything. That power is so important to guide our actions and our decisions. One thing in anointing requires a deep intimacy with Jesus, allowing his nature and character to rub off on us.

Walking in anointing regards requires faith that surpasses. Our natural instincts and fears, trusting in God's promising and leading.

This example of baptism is laid before us to show the importance that we, excuse me, accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and then repent and then the Holy Spirit, it says will come upon us as it did Jesus.

This is what God wants for all of his children to be baptized. He gave us an example. John was out there in the wilderness, he was baptizing, but he told the people I can only baptize you with water.

The one that comes after me will baptize you with the Holy Spirit. You'll have power to do everything that you need to do. Ah, let's see. Let me see there. I'm trying to skip because I did so much. I don't want to keep y'all on here forever.

I want to point out that the power of the Holy Spirit is available to each of us. And yet he's often the most overlooked and underutilized person of the Trinity.

The Holy Spirit was sent to Minister to us to convict us, to teach us, to give us insight into God's death, death, to enable us to live a life of joy, love, and so much more.

We can come to know all the ways he is available to us as we pray to God concerning the many roles he intends for the Holy Spirit to manifest to us in us and through us, and I've got a lot of books Tony Evans. Yeah on the Holy Spirit.

So I know all of his names. I won't mention them right now, but y'all can look it pp also, in order to get to know the Holy Spirit and receive his anointing, we have to be obedient, and we know when Zacharias he doubted God, he shut his mouth and then after what he said, his name shall be John then he opened his mouth.

Mary, she immediately obeyed. And we don't always do that, but I want to tell you something. God is patient. He's loving. He knows we he knows us. We're not going to obey the first time he has to come back around and tell us again. Like with Jonah we know that story.

Most importantly, we have to study the Scriptures which requires reading of the word Pastor Zee always encourage us. That that's one thing he always tells us read. Ok, I want to point out we should be aware that Satan, who was the Angel in charge of worship.

So he's thoroughly familiar with God's word, so he is able to misspeak what God really means and what God says. That is why we need to examine the scriptures and ask the Holy Spirit for the anointing on our life so that we can discern what God's word really says.

Also, we know that Jesus told his disciples, and I mentioned this, that he had to leave them. But most importantly, he said I will not leave you alone, but we shall be glad that he left us with someone who's always in us. And most importantly, Jesus had to return to his father and take his rightful place.

Sitting on his right hand so that when Satan walks in and he willas the Scriptures say day and night, night and day. He Satan goes before God night and day to accuse Jesus is sitting right there to announce us innocent.

Ok, so I just want to encourage everybody to be sure to pray night and day. So that when the enemy goes through God for God and Jesus can save, my child has already told me what happened.

Go away, Satan. They've been baptized. They are obedient. They know God's word. So you know and I think in Matthews Chapter 4, after Jesus, Jesus rebuked Satan when he kept talking to him, saying no, no, no, no.

We must all live by the word of God. Satan went away and then the Angels came in. So that's a word for excuse me. That's a word for us. That's why Jesus is right there. He's already paid the price. Ok, I am going to close by where's my Bible? Oh, I want to read, excuse me.

I want to read Ephesians 5:15-20. Where in this particular Bible is the new living translation and the heading says living by the Spirit's power. So I'm going to end by saying be careful how you live.

Don't live like fools. Be like those who are wise, make the most of every opportunity in these evil days, and we know what's going on right now. Don't act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.

Don't be drunk with wine because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit singing songs and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves and making music to the Lord in your hearts and give thanks for everything to God the father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Oh. I feel good because I mean the Holy Spirit is so wonderful. And we probably need to start talking about him more because a lot of people got an idea who Jesus is and they go know God indirectly by what we see. We know he created everything, but we need to get people to know who the Holy Spirit is because he's everything to us.

So I'm going to wrap it up and say thank y'all for giving me this assignment. It was tough. Ooh, it was tough. But ok, all right. That was that was wonderful. Thank you, miss Mary. Thank you. Good that was nice, Amen.

So just thank you for allowing the Holy Spirit to speak through you to us because you're absolutely right. We have a baptism by water where we confess our sins, but there is a baptism with power and fire that we need.

As Jesus told his disciples before he sent them out cause remember before they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit they were hiding. They were on the run. There was, and likewise what a message to us, there's just no way we can do this work for the Kingdom without the power of the Holy Spirit.

And like you said, Satan wants to whisper in our ears and tell us everything we can't do, and we're not this. And I remember how you used to be, but we cannot allow Satan to have the last word. Jesus has the 1st and final say.

He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. But like you said we it's not taught enough in the church and we are in a time where we are just no going to be able to stand without the power of the Holy Spirit because we don't have it in us.

And if you think about each and every one of each and everyone of us think about what we're able to do right now that you weren't even able to do a year ago.

If someone would have told you a year ago on this call. You'll be giving this word. Remember, yes, responding to invitations from crazy Veronica, Pastor Zee and Calvin. And being able to say yes, even though inside you might be shaking inside, but you still say yes.

There's obedience, there's obedience. That's like you said, that's the Holy Spirit. So my word of encouragement to all of us is when you find you're doing something, no matter what it is for the Kingdom, for your job, for your family, if you find yourself struggling.

And trying to figure it out and you're hitting the wall, you're hitting the wall that is a signal stop, cry out, Father forgive me. I'm trying to do this in my own strength. How crazy is that? And you will see him work when you say all right, Holy Spirit, what am I supposed to do in this situation?

And trust me, he's going to answer you. And until he answers, you stand still and keep praying and praising. This is a lesson that I'm learning with everything. I'll tell you, I'm getting to the point with everything even said in the e-mail.

I'm like, Lord, give me the right words before meeting, Lord please be in this meeting. Holy Spirit please give me your wisdom, your insight, your discernment. Help me see what my eyes can't see before I, you know, get on the prayer call.

Lord, help us. Help us with this morning devotion, you know. So that's, that's Miss Mary thank you so much. That is such an important word for us in this time. Let's not go out unclothed and let us believe in every day ask for a fresh feeling of the holy spirits and believe it and you will receive it.

And the evidence of it is the fruit of the Holy Spirit will be manifested in your life, and some of us kind of get caught up into oh well, if I don't speak in tongues, that means I don't have the Holy Spirit.

Look at your life. What is the evidence of the Holy Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faith inclusive. So you gotta get used to that.

The battle is real, ok? And you know. Anyway, all I'm so happy for this fellowship, this family of faith. We can't do it alone.

I know when you need a word of encouragement. Get on the phone with any one of us here. Because we know each everybody that's here that shows up all the time can be trusted with the with God's Kingdom work.

Prayer works, prayer works. Yes, get yourself a prayer partner, Calvin. I can do this. Let me pray together. God help me. So yes, and just remember, if you're in doing something no matter what it is you're doing, if you're hitting the wall and you're trying to figure it out.

Stop, just stop and pray. Stop and pray, Father, forgive me. I'm trying to figure this out. How dare I. Holy Spirit, lead the way. Thank you Veronica. It's all good, it's all good, it's all good.

Listen, this is only a test. It's only a test. But I love my mom. She's come away, she's come away. She has but still, you know, the revelation of the importance of this.

And it's, you know, it's all I'm sure we all have people in our family who just don't understand. And as you were saying, Miss Mary, we have to witness to the families, our friends and as you were telling us today, wherever God has planted you, that's your mission field. It's not stake.

You might be miserable, there's a reason why he planted you where you are. So just keep praying Holy Spirit to show you and give you the words this season. Oh God you got me fired up right with Mary.

I'm gonna have to come out to disrupt things anyway. She's alright. Ok Lord, help me anyway, who will pray? Anyone feeling fired up? I pray. Oh Amen, Holy Spirit lead us. Lead us, Nadia.

Dear Heavenly Father, Elohim we come to you tonight with this word. Miss Mary gave us that touched my heart and I pray touched everyone else's heart. The anointing of the Holy Spirit is real. The gifts and talents and the understanding of your word on a level more than just physical meaning in the mind but in the heart, it's great.

We ask the Holy Spirit that you come into this earthly vessels and take over. Let your will be done on Earth, as it is in heaven and give us this day Our Daily Bread and that daily bread is not just for us, but for others to touch them and to feel your move in the earth, in their spirit.

Take them, hang in and walk them and guide them where you want them to go. Put oil on their head that flows to the top of their head, to the bottom of their feet Lord God, we walk on sacred ground to do your work in the Earth, Holy Spirit.

And we know that you are with us at all times. Like Miss Mary said, we are never alone. We always have the Holy Trinity with us, but we have to learn to lean on it. Eat from it every day and give it to others.

Share the daily bread. We ask that you understand that we have to move out the way for your will to be done and with that will greatness will subside, and this world would be a better place, and heaven and earth will be created through your sheep.

Here on Earth, Lord God, and we thank you for that. We thank you for the provisions that you've made Holy Spirit. The Holy Trinity that you've made for us to be where we are, to acknowledge what we are learning and to use it in everyday life.

And these blessings, we say thank you, Holy Trinity for all that you have done doing and about to do because you are the same then, today and forevermore, Amen, Amen, Amen. Thank you, Nadia. Welcome. Amen. Thank you, everybody. Oh, we love you so much.
